Wow, this car really dies down at higher speed versus the Z with the HR engine. This one did 0-200 in 23 seconds, and the HR does it in 17 seconds. I guess this motor doesn't have as much top end.

That's exactly right look at the numbers. On paper the hr has 306 hp. DE has 287. It's 19 more but when the hr came out they changed the way hp is calculated. Going by the old way it's more like 315. The torque on the hr is 268 the DE has 274.

ya, they all have the same hp except the nismo has a little more because they put the nismo exhaust on it. the only difference is the interior, and brakes. however from 03-06 i believe the automatics had 287 while the manual had 300 but im not 100% sure

i have an 05 roadster haven't really pushed it to the limit 140 the most its a 6 speed but to me its better than the 06 -07 models because the torque range is closer to the horse power 287hp with 274 of torque thats pretty scary if you ask me

my VQ35HR is pushing 290 to wheels after tuning. its in an 08 350Z and you can tell the big gap in the blocks. VQ35DE pushed maybe 265 if that. i had an 05 for my first Z. and i have to say 240kph is what 150mph the only thing i did to my 05 was trade gov chip that cut off top speed and K&N intake. and i maxed it at 165 not even close to red line. and did it alot faster. this is nothing to boast about.

i have an 03 Z... stock it does put out 287hp, but thats not at the wheels, its actually much less. Stock mine only hit 232whp on the dyno. The VQ35DE in this vid is a really versatile engine, and can be pushed pretty far, i have mine set up with a 50 shot of NOS and it gets up there pretty quick

There's a reason for that. The engine was different in the 03-04s.  That was the VQ35DE, the 05-06 was the Rev up edition of that (dual intakes) and then the VQ35HR is the current version which lays down about 275 at the wheels.

the revup doesnt have dual intakes, only the 07 and up (HR)..and my knowledge on this part is vague but i believe the only 05 with rev up was the 35anniversary model..but that mightve had 300hp but no rev up so not too sure about that...i know that in 06 the only cars that had the rev up engine was the manual transmission models

Well, the new 313ks is really much faster, more alive and more rev engine. If you want Z, buy the new one, its big difference.

But, next year is coming new Z, it will be 370Z, with VQ 3.7 engine, from Infinity . 330hp estimated to be, we dont know yet, but i think it will be 330-340hp , so it does not come too close to GTR .

Mines a 2004 and it's pure damn scary - faster than a Z4 - faster than a Audi TT Quatro Sport, Faster than a Scooby Doo. I've only had it two days and i've used quarter of a tank - most of the day I have been working. Attracts the police ( that's what cruise is for ). Mine has the red light which is programmable - you set it to a particular rev count. Same on the PlayStation3 too.

Not much. you can tell the weaker HP cars..... No muscle when you hit 3rd, 4th, and zero at 5th. That's why I had to upgrade my 7. What a difference an extra 110HP is. my 4th is better than this z's 3rd (by alot). It's probably that extra 700 pounds as well. I'm sure that doesn't help him.
