True Story: My mom works for some pharm company and was moved to Niantic, CT in 2004 for an assignment. At my mom's home on the beach you can even see an island in the distance. I work in facilities like Plum Island, and I must say people that don't conduct this level of work should really educate themselves on what goes into protecting the public, environment, and animals at these facilities. As I'm reading the comments, all I can do is shake my head at the level of ignorance and hope that some insight may be sought!

Not to offend you as someone with a great deal more experience than most people on this site, myself included, but the closest affiliation most people have to any goings on remotely near what may go on in Plum Island is foolish movies, video games, television shows, and horror / thriller novels. Most of those media involve some horrible accident that manages to surpass even the most advanced security. Sadly to say that my imagination like many of theirs has a stranglehold on my logic in this.

think about this .. why since this lab was openned in the 1950's have the US developed all of these illnesses: to start, MS, FM, CFS, EBV, ADHD, JRA, Lupus, RMSF, Rheumatic fever, bells Palsy, RA, PD, ALS, Lou Gehrigs Disease, The list is enormous to list here.. but all have surfaced since the openning of this LAb on this Island.. as a viralogy researcher plum island is actually an excellent site for a BS-04 facility due to the fact that it is on an island which is more isolated than most think...yes its a mile off shore but at the same time in the extremely unlikely chance that an accident were to happen that distance also acts as a safety buffer as for a virus to sustain for the time it would take to get to a population center it would need a host which there is a lack of in the area..the island is also heavily gaurded
