I saw Tim Kasher open up for Minus the Bear last year and I don't remember if he was supporting his solo album or just with The Good Life, either way, I fell in love right away. I had never heard of him (even though I knew about Saddle Creek and Bright Eyes), and I had front row. I'll never forget it. He's great.
i've been buying every saddle creek record for almost ten years, and i think why conor gets more national attention than kasher is because conor has a much more mainstream-friendly sound lately. a lot of cursive's music uses a lot of harsh sounds and discord, which is hard to digest for a lot of people. and conor's early work utilized similar techniques, but once he became the front man for the americana/folk revival he sort of went away from the cacophony approach to songwriting.
My uncle got Tim Kasher a job at Spaghetti Works back in the early 90's when he was just 19. Apparently, 2 hours into the job, Tim freaked out and quit on the spot.
He is way better at music I guess. I love Cursive and the Good Life!!!
@Munkilometer too right you are, though I don't understand how a person can feel justified in arguing with someone they'll never meet in their lives even if somehow they end up in the same lineup at the grocery store.
conor oberst is a person. bright eyes is a mixture of conor and mike and this other guy plus whoever they need for the other parts. like the drummers they had in lifted
I love Bright Eyes, don't get me wrong...but why is Oberst getting more attention than Tim Kasher? It makes no sense to me... In my personal opinion, Tim's songwriting is far superior and his voice is quite lovely.
@InLoveWithTheMoon88 Disclaimer: Tim Kasher is my favorite musical artist bar none... Now that has been said, self-deprecation only has such a large market.
"she got a job at the local bar giving handjobs to the local drunks" lmao. I love how he switched it up seeings how the song is about a failed relationship.
I don't think it's that, i know that at least the drummer is in neva dinova, idk about the other members but i'm betting they're in other bands too. It seems as though there's the possibility one day for a tour (maybe even sometime relatively soon) from the new album, but there's probably as much of a chance of that happening as the desaparecidos getting back together.
I'd love to see a new desaparecidos, but I think we're out of luck on that, too. It's too sad that these guys' side projects never stick around. I think the guy in this video playing bass is actually the bassist from cursive, the drummer and guitarist are the usual crew for The Goodlife, but I just realized who the bassist is.
Well, being the good life fan i am, i don't know how i haven't seen this until now, no matter, 5 stars, tim kashers alive and well and i love them with every inch of my being.
And p.s. Tim looks best with a moustache - he touched me during a concert and i didn't realize completely that was him because of that effing thing - CO springs indie concerts FTW! (of course that was for cursive, i swear i must see the good life in concert before i die)
I don't know, I think you may be out of luck... their website hasn't been updated in a year and there's no news about them... I think Kasher simply cares more about cursive.
What happened to Stephanie? That dude that is replacing her is one of the members of Consafos but i never heard about her leaving. Maybe she had something else come up...
yeah, it's from the german tv-show 'Sarah Kutner, Die Show' on the german music channel 'Viva'. It's no longer being aired and i believe this has to be one of the best all time performances on tv. Such a great video and song!
im pretty sure tim and conor grew up together played shows together in Omaha, idk i might be wrong but i do know that conor started a side project that sounded kinda like cursive called Desaparecidos.
You are absolutely right. They grew up together. They started Saddle Creek together. They also guest appear on each others albums. Although they are similar, they are also completely different....
ive had this video on my ipod for a while now... i listen to fucking grind.. yet i cant get enough of tim's lyrics.. and music... the new album is the SHIT..... each album is fucking brilliant...
this is a great video- one of my all-time favorite good life songs. i like how tim looks without facial hair too , like younger or something. i like the tele sound for the intro as well and the slightly slower tempo. groovy.
Is that Drake Bell?
