HD DVD won't be dead unless all of them were broken. GameCube isn't broken, the original XBOX isn't broken, the PlayStation (1) isn't broken. A better way to describe this is "no longer made."

@jurkis1, i don't think so, many people prefer having a physical copy, and many people don't have a fast enough internet connection for streaming, and then you have to worry about data storage, plus you don't get any special features with downloading.

Well I just heard an Update on Microsoft's Bluray addon. Microsoft said 'There are no plans on putting in a Bluray player and the reason why was only 3% of 360 owners have the HD DVD add on," so there not going to do it(currently). To be honest thats like the dumbest move ever they know it has a capacity of 50GB so why would they just throw away that idea. Im not a Sony fanboy but if Blu does become the norm than people are going to go for the PS3. It only cost $100 more than 360!
CONTINUED and really if you buy a PS3 as a Bluray player you saved a lot of money and you can use it for other reasons, Microsoft just doesn't want to have to kiss Sony's ass for it...which would be the best thing for there 360 owners.... :)

i think that it depends on what you want. blu-ray should be advertised more for gaming but they want to corner hd-dvd first. they are using this tactic to gain more money. but id like to add that read/write speeds are slower on blu-ray than hd-dvd or better:dl-dvd. i dont see a need for hd-dvd right now however, and blu-rays capacity is great for gaming, but sony wants to eliminate compitition. corperate assholes they are. they're getting thier goddamn wish.

*not trying to be a a**hole about it, so here I go* PS3 is good for a standard blu-ray player and the Xbox 360 and/or the Wii is good for games. So if the PS3 wins, dont say it's the best Game systems because it's not. I'll admit that Blu-ray is the best but not the PS3. It has a long way to go before it claims to be the best game system ever.

Well I just heard an Update on Microsoft's Bluray addon. Microsoft said 'There are no plans on putting in a Bluray player and the reason why was only 3% of 360 owners have the HD DVD add on," so there not going to do it(currently). To be honest thats like the dumbest move ever they know it has a capacity of 50GB so why would they just throw away that idea. Im not a Sony fanboy but if Blu does become the norm than people are going to go for the PS3. It only cost $100 more than 360!

Believe me unless you have a 100" HDTV you don't need HD that much.
normal DVD films look good on TV's up to 50"
so unless it looks grainy and shitty theres nothing to worry about.

btw the HDTV i got i tried my 360 on SD and it looks fine, all the HD did was sharpen the image a little.
funny really any screens under 40" aren't impacted greatly by HD.

Whatever UK pricing is, the 40gig costs as much as a 360 did. And if you factor in the cost for Xbox Live (PSN is free) then the 360 is the same price as the 40gig, not counting the continued yearly subscription of Live.

i think that it depends on what you want. blu-ray should be advertised more for gaming but they want to corner hd-dvd first. they are using this tactic to gain more money. but id like to add that read/write speeds are slower on blu-ray than hd-dvd or better:dl-dvd. i dont see a need for hd-dvd right now however, and blu-rays capacity is great for gaming, but sony wants to eliminate compitition. corperate assholes they are. they're getting thier goddamn wish.
