This is just a general comment. The character is tactless but he cuts to the chase. In a similar way, so is Jonathan Creek. "Now what kind of gibberish is that?"

What I love about both shows is the title characters are uncompromisingly scientific. When a hypothesis isn't working, you go for a different one, as Doc did when he misdiagnosed impetigo.

Wish we in America had the same respect for science and the consequent ability to say: "I was wrong."

I think it's because of his character. He's done it at other times as well, but unfortunately I couldn't remember in which episodes when I put these clips together.
