"Actually I found out, that on the 28th of December 1992, it de-railed at Roskilde Station due to highspeed and no ATC"
-- I remember seeing that loco at BC LV Vest (Locomotive Depot West) in Aarhus back then. It was beaten up rather badly. They laid a temporary track at the docks, to a shipyard. It was then shunted down there, where they rebuilt the front entirely.
At Roskilde, she was driven at 99 km/h where the limit was 40.
The smoke from the traction engins is probably exhaust from the diesel engine wich is leaking out around the muflers on the top of the engine, between the sylinder banks. (bad construction of the exhaust seals) The exhaust is then sucked in trough the traction motor cooling fans from the engineroom to the traction motors... Not good. The engine is also loosing a lot power when leaking exhaust before the turbocharger...
I like the the graffited long since withdrawn loco, acting as a load kind of makes the motive power stand out even more. Is this orginal as built condition or has it been re-engined? And is it brand new or nicked from DSB?
This is the original MZ1437. It was delivered to DSB in 1973 and in 2005, DSB restored and painted it for it's owners. It had been stored since 1999 on different locations. From 2001 - 2005 at Copenhagen Central Station along with many other MZ's. This is according to jernbanen dot dk
So I guess the Aussies were interested as its GM powered, and they have alot of experience with their engines. Makes a change from the UK where we have hundreds of brand new GM locos, be it totally different design, they certainly are reliable power plants.
Actually I found out, that on the 28th of December 1992, it de-railed at Roskilde Station due to highspeed and no ATC. Locodriver killed. Loco was in operation again in May 1993.
Going to take some getting used to seeing these things in Australia. I kinda think they'll look out of place in a consist with a 44 or 48 class. Adds to the variety of locos already in NSW I guess, be good once they put an actual paintscheme on it.

Those Danes. We give them a princess, and get a bunch of old locomotives in return.

Lots of smoke coming from under the frame, it seems. Maybe from thermal stress, lube-leak at traction-motors/gears/bearings? Or brake dragging?

Yeah, they are *so* ugly, they are almost pretty.
And this one is newly restored!
If you want ugly, then ugly you get, go search google with the following string :
"Jens Raaby DSB MZ 1426"
Enjoy the nitty gritty industrial look, of the grime smeared original paint scheme used in Denmark.
I kinda like it. :)
