Fab song - great to work-out to at the gym for the middle-age spread.....but how did they get talked into the daggy fairground thing - they are much too cool!
It was one of the greatest changes ever made by a band......brass/ tough look....to Fiddles/ celtic soul!......Not so great when kevin showed his feminine side!
hi, i have the UNIQUE and mega RARE ACETATE/PYRAL of this song on 7 inch vinyl with picture sleeve in FAB Condition for sale, interested?? then email offers to; billygould757@hotmail.com
Interesting to see that, although this is the single before Come On Eileen and is from the same album with the fiddle section added to the band at this stage they hadn't come up with the iconic dress sense they'd use in later months.
Is it just me? Or is there nothing more satisfying than cranking the subwoofers up and playing this song while the douchebag next to you is playing rap?
You have to say that EMI totally f@*ked up regarding the lack of promotion and support they gave Dexys. One of very very few bands whos music still sounds as cutting edge now, nearly 30 years later.
Go to Sligo for the Oingo Boingo, definitely a Celtic Soul when I hear this. Am I mistaken or did the Cure use some of the elements of this song for Love Cats? Could just be nostalgia for a different place in time and all the sounds I used to hear.
Your channels are true treasure chests! Thank you for collecting an sharing: Whatever I've stumbled across so far made me smile and go very nostalgic :o)

This song is the reason Dexy's Midnight Runners are *NOT* a one hit wonder in the United States. It did actually chart in the US.

I'm attempting to increase this song's view count, always come back to it. What a great tune, easily their most underrated track.

one of the greatest songs of all time...so far!
jonnie edwards on bass went into status Quo!!
the song got to No 20 when re-released in 1983....a travesty..had to be top 10 at least...
