As for now. Soviet Russia was dangerous oponent. Modern Russia is dangerous only to the natural enviroment. Even a dumb one knows that china never forgot that Russia abandon comunist values. In case Russia attacks any NATO country , China would be delighted to capture, vast areas of Russia, including Sibieria, with its natural resources.

its a shame the soviets tried to beat us in an economic war...they should have know they couldent beat capitalists at that....but had they invaded....started a non nuclear war....we would be eniterly on their turf....our soldiers are good...but theirs were just as good...only difference was they had 20 for everyone of ours

The move of desperation would've been to fire nukes straight up and incinerate them all, at the cost of spreading fallout over the US. I've no doubt the Soviets had something similar rigged up. A war between the two powers would've burned the world, and superior numbers may merely have meant more to loose.

I know what the idea of socialism is. The concept is making all equal. The goal is to eliminate common problems faced by countries that believe in free enterprise and capitalism. I theory it sounds great. However in practice it does not work. Human nature interferes with this. We all want to earn and achieve more than the guy next to us. But socialism is a political concept. While I serve the U.S. army, I wouldn't mind serving in the Soviet Army. I hate what has happened to my nation and my army

More people feel like 20 million is a better answer, however they usually do not take into account the Great Purges, Labor Camps, and the mass murder and rapes of German civilians. @Siava1374 There's have not been any country who has achieved what Marx called communism, the society without classes or a state. The leaders in the east block abused the communism for their own benefit. Compare that to the states today who is ruled by so called muslims. Is it a good idea to condemn and accuse Islam for what the talibans did to the Afghan people or what the Mullahs do to the people of Iran?

After the Soviet Union collapsed, 10 million orphan children now roam the streets of Russian cities. Millions more feral dogs have also claimed their territory in those cities.
Not only that, but the new capitalist government has slackened on drug prevention. Right after Communism left, the number of drug addicts increased by 600% within Russia.
Kinda shows how capitalism doesn't give a damn.

There was a Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact. Thus, Stalin viewed Nazi Germany as the closest trading partner who wouldn't backstab.

I know what the idea of socialism is. The concept is making all equal. The goal is to eliminate common problems faced by countries that believe in free enterprise and capitalism. I theory it sounds great. However in practice it does not work. Human nature interferes with this. We all want to earn and achieve more than the guy next to us. But socialism is a political concept. While I serve the U.S. army, I wouldn't mind serving in the Soviet Army. I hate what has happened to my nation and my army

Unlike it's predecessor, the Red Army, which was based more off of Communistic ideals. Oh and.. as the renowned Greek Philosopher Socrates once said "All I know is that I know nothing". Honestly, I'm not socialist. But for some odd reason I love Russian history and I love the Soviet Military. They had the power to run over Europe and Asia. And while I dont approve of communist ideals, I do wish I had command of a mixed Soviet Army. I could conquer anyone! Glory to the Soviet Army!

First of all, none of those were issued by the Government. The atomic bombings were not massacres, kid. Every casualty from both of those massacres comes to about 170. Thats not even comparable to the 50 or so million Russians that were murdered for RACE and RELIGION, not during war, such as what happened during the Holocaust. And I am not even adding to my argument the massacres the Russians committed during WWII. Nemmersdorf, Metgethen, Berlin, all rapes and murders on civilians. Sick dogs.

@alexganger NO WAY! Well between the time of 1937 and up until Stalins death, he was responsible for the murder of around 50 million people. More people feel like 20 million is a better answer, however they usually do not take into account the Great Purges, Labor Camps, and the mass murder and rapes of German civilians. Not to mention the MASSIVE amount of friendly fire that resulted from Stalin RUSHING to Berlin to beat the Americans. Read up, child. (Also the USSRs population was around 200k)
