@KoolJayJ It was a Romero thing, he likes covering social issues and there is always a black hero it seems (quite PC) - in his newer films its a bit more varied.. There are plenty of asian zombie movies, mostly Japanese but they generally don't take themselves seriously and are comedy/cult movies.

Damn....Im glad I found this flick here. I was like 9 or 10 when I first saw it. Its ruined watching the modern 'So Called' zombie movies for me. I guess with a higher pay grade...zombies all got personal trainers so they can run like the wind & home schooling so they can communicate,form plans, & use weapons...etc. Next thing we have to fear is them driving after us. The problem with the remake is that the characters are too over-the-top. Cooper is a pyschopath and that woman becomes Ms. Military by the end (a complete contrast from the original). Plus, they don't go into the cause of the whole zombie thing.

If you notice, in the remake she doesn't even mention Johnny after he dies for the rest of the movie. She's the total opposite of the character in the 1968 version.

@WikiSorcerer I prefer the original. It goes into the cause of the whole thing and it emphasizes how the zombie epidemic can be contained (showing clips of gunmen out shooting the zombies). Sequels made it look like it would be the end of the world. It really wouldn't unless they were fast zombies. This one doesn't say it's the end of the world either but it doesn't go into containment. The characters seem a little more realistic, especially Cooper. I've only seen this one and the original.
