  • Are those 1200s?

  • It gives me chills everytime I hear it.. damnnnnnnnnnnnnnn I love amens.

  • amen this shit is over ,, just wasted 1:20 of my life,,,,,

  • Awesome buddy! and nice deck!

  • Yep. This was sampled for the PowerPuff Girls theme song.

    Fun fact~

  • You SAID IT Brother! AMEN!!! BraaaP!!!

  • :58

  • is that an LP or 45?

  • It's not the "eh"men break, it's the "ah"men break

  • Woot Vintage Album * Crate Diving for too Long DragonWon*

  • love this video me. tremendous find!

  • like dj can

  • all so check out can for 1968 theft its so fucking sick.

  • amen to that!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice, you also got sanatanas first album!

  • never heard a sound so much in my life as much as Ive heard that one xD

  • Thank you.

  • masakra ;|

  • You show off! lol

  • People seem to forgetting Breakcore...breakcore uses this beat all the time..

  • @TehDaddyChris SO many people have said that to me! WTF

  • Gotta admit, this is enlightening. I love when I find things like this that show me how little drum beats or rhythms from older tunes have influenced so many. It reminds me of when I read about how Gary Numan's "Films", and the opening drumbeats, influenced some early hip hop. Very cool. Thanks for posting this.

  • it's 6 seconds

  • If the Winstons hadn't stuck it on the B side of the Color Him Father single, history might have been changed. It was too fast at it's regular speed. DJs wouldn't have used the LP version, and it probably would never had been included on Ultimate Breaks & Beats. Also, drum & bass may never have been born because they wouldn't have heard it from its use in hip hop.

  • no mention of Jungle or Drum & Bass ?

  • @PermT Not in the video but I mention it in my description! We can't leave out those two.

  • @PermT lol amen is drum & bass so i dunno how he missed that

  • @PermT that came much later. this one is from 1969.

  • @candygir7 Haha ! I know that ! My point is, the guy mentions that the breakbeat has been used in House, Hip Hop and Rock, but no mention of Drum & Bass. That is the genre that woz MOST influenced by this breakbeat as it woz the basis of pretty much every single tune that woz released in 1994 !

  • @PermT - haha, yup - that was like THE break used for the base loop on every other jungle record in the mid 90s :) as classic as it gets!

  • all you need to get is the 45 rpm, not that rare on ebay

i got a mono radio station copy for free when i was in jr high-the guy died

  • I like the montage of album covers on the wall dude :)

  • thank you

     Sir

  • Definitely 6 secs.

  • Thank you!!!

  • Hey Mr.D finally found your videos. Haha. Nice Videos!

  • nice record player

  • inspired the powerpuff girls intro music

  • inspired drum and bass, jungle, ragga wateva

  • obviously, the creators of that show had great taste in samples =)

  • Five seconds of music history. Congratulations on the great find. It needs to be up on the wall with your others.

  • 6 secs lol

  • 6 secs (AGREED)

  • @FrobblOo Thats because this is the break that was used in a huge amount of jungle and DnB tracks! Once you have the beat in your head you will hear it everywhere. NWA Straight out of Compton is a good example.

  • jungle sounds like IT.

  • go straight to 0:59

  • Dude thanks for uploading, Musial history being made on this piece!

  • ahh so thats where the break comes from. i hear it at bboy jams, dj's replay that break

  • powerpuff girls comes to mind lol

  • haha the good old amen break jungle music was born from that break more so than any other type of music , ive got a version of an amen kit but that one on the record sounds better believe it or not lool

  • dude they used that shit in tekan/teken whatever. And everywhere else

  • What it shows me is that you cannot beat a live drummer, especially a funky one.

  • play the fucking song you piece of shit!

  • It's in the Futurama theme.

  • I would rather have this record than any other in the world.

  • the most important drum break in modern history

  • @StackCityEntOfficial, I think you could probably say 'in ALL of history'. Don't think the ancient or medieval periods had a lot of drum breaks goin on.

  • haha nice one

  • cool! :)

  • WHAT!?!! 'used all over the place' !!!!??!!

This is LEGENDARY. The birth of over 10new genres of MUSIC. Genres man, not just some songs. Fuck; more than 5 LIFESTYLES evolved from this break.

    Nice post by the way,

    Peace

  • really dope

  • The best drum pattern ever made. Without this break my favourite genre of music would probably not exist.

    Mad respect for The Winstons!

  • What, jungle?

  • Yeah, jungle and drum & bass.

  • you know your clip cuts off just before the break comes in?

Is that the original you got there?

it must have cost an awful lot!!

  • thanks for the post!

  • You have one NICE camera....What brand?

    X

  • I also chopped it up.

  • cheers man. concise and informative.

  • yehh ive used this a few times

  • i love that break.

ive chopped it up,and its great.

  • Absolutely historic. Incredibly how 5 seconds revolutionized music!

  • Nice post man, 1969 !!!!

  • Thanks homie for the posting. Drum N Bass all the way.

  • siick! love this beat btw xD

  • that is a very rare record my friend. good find. that breakbeat may be the most influential of all time starting at 0:59. Straight Outta Compton comes to mind immediately.

  • rare?

    you mean the original right??

oh,and dont forget over 99.9999% of Jungle-drum n bass tracks used this break and used it heavily.

  • that must be EXACTLY what he means hahahahaha. i love that sample

  • Ide say about 75%.

  • it's a b-side off the record. There's a video on youtube telling the story of that beat and how it was and still is used.

  • good information about this Amen thing. I was just reading the dnb wikipedia where it is mentioned about this Amen breaks.

  • ditto

  • The drum solo was performed by Gregory Sylvester "G.C." Coleman.

  • @DragonWon His drumming will never die.

  • Sweet! I learned about this only recently. Does anyone know who played drums for this group?

  • must be the most famous drummer till now =)

  • look it up on wiki.
