@JazzChrissPL Yep, remember these were originally written to be danced to. The sheet music for every single Joplin rag clearly states 'slow', 'not fast' or the like.
Personal opinion: I find that increasing rag tempo is always at cost of expression / always makes it more mechanical. Increased tempo is not worth losing the ability to adjust the dynamics of each hand seperately.

Any song should be played just as the particular musician likes to play it. Slow, fast or whatever.
