i had this problem once, it was the screw adjustment on the master cylinder for the clutch. the nut has to be in a proper length of the treaded rod going into the firewall. if its too short, you're only going to get partial disengagement of the clutch when you apply the pressure all the way making it difficult for you to put it in gear. 1st, 2nd and reverse were the hardest to get in. I did this on a 5th gen prelude and a 2002-2005 civic. I had to pull out the master cyclinder again
oh really? the title is pretty misleading... auto to manual sounds like a tiptronic tranny lolol, but i guess i missed you shifting through the gears >.>.
most old m/t car's i've driven with a lot of miles on the tranny will give you trouble getting into gear when the car isn't moving, cuz the synchros can't sync the gears properly unless the car is in motion. sometimes i can't get into 1st or reverse so i just gently slip the clutch to get it in gear, then launch the car normally. if you want to eliminate the issue just buy a spare trans and have it fully rebuilt by a GOOD shop and use good fluid like Redline or Motul.
btw this applies regardless if your car was factory m/t or swapped from auto btw. my daily driver is a m/t maxima that i swapped from auto last year, but i notice the same thing on my other maxima that is factory manual. my friend's dad's mustang with just 70k miles does not really have this issue.
The transmission didn't have that many miles on it. The conversion was just done half assed, so there is no telling what it was. I had a suspicion that one of the springs on the clutch might have came loose though causing an issue.
it's possible that an insufficiently-disengaging clutch could make 1st hard to get into. do you still have the car or was it someone else's? if you still have it, is it still giving the same trouble getting into 1st?
youre right. i had a spring pop outta my clutch before and my tranny was making wierd noises. had no idea what it was until i just bought a new clutch. it was a pain in the ass after being in traffic and not being able to shift into certain gears. but this could be bad shift linkage, synchros gone on the tranny regardless of mileage, or just something really stupid like a spring popping. either way you made $700 and dont have to worry about it anymore

This car was sold soon after by the way. I even made $700 on top of my original purchase price, so I was glad to see it go.

I know this video is old. but the sports tiptronic trannys on the lude were prone to failure. looks like you were one of the unlucky ones

You are aware that this is a manual transmission? The tiptronic was the automatic model. I hope you know the difference.
