@blackvapour The corvettes' suspension is very different from the leaf spring you are thinking of. It's a double wishbone suspension just like a lot of other sports cars use, just not paired with coil springs over the dampers. Instead, the corvette has a single leaf running horizontally. The advantages to this suspension are that it is more durable than coil springs, and they are 1/3 of the weight of coil springs. The disadvantage is that they are more expensive than coil springs.

FYI, Switzer doesn't make P900 for the Porsche, but they do make the P800,which is the same as the one GT-R used for $33k. I don't know where you get your info from.. #LOL
Why does the base package matter so much to you? If you want I can take a 2012 GT-R for $90k and put the Alpha 12 package ($15k) and it would completely demolish almost anything on its path all for under $130k.

What your dealing with is 4 wheels of traction vs. 2. The Z06 is capable of getting 3.7 0-60, but you need warm level pavement with warm tires and full premium juice in the tank. Both cars are amazing tho! For those of you wanting a ZR1 vs. GT2. let me tell you that is one awesome showdown. ZR1 wins big time, but its awesome to see those things go! However the fair comparison for Porsche would be the ZR1 vs. GT2 RS

6 cylinder against a high performance V-8 and the 6 prevails. As a corvette Z06 owner I'm impressed with the Porsche. The Vette is bigger, wider, and heavier than the Porsche (with equal HP) so its not as aerodynamic or quick. However I do commend Chevrolet for that sweet small block engine.

The fact that this guy has literally never even seen one of these, explains why he gets such slow times... Corvette's especially the ZR1 and Z06 are not cars you can just get into and expect to be very quick in right off the bat. They take tons of time to perfect a driving style. While the GT2 is not necessarily easy to drive... It is more user friendly then the Vette.
The victory of the GT2 is hardly surprising vs. Z06, given the higher power (530 vs. 505), the superior traction due to the weight distro (RR vs. FR), and the flatter power band since it's a turbo vs. the normally-aspirated Z06. This is all perfectly fine, but what I cannot STAND is when journalists lament the "leaf" spring in the 'Vettes. The Vette has a high-tech COMPOSITE TRANSVERSE LEAF SPRING at the back, not the ELLIPTIC leaf springs found in trucks or "lorries"!!!!

And yes, spend the price difference on forced induction on the vette and it will be faster. Otherwise it would be weird given the advantage in both amount of cylinders and displacement.

Yawn... the only thing this proved is that the gt2 is easier to launch on any surface and it's easier for a random person to come along and get close to factory number claims. The best run in a z06 in the 1/4 mile(10.981) is better than the best 997 gt2 run. Not trying to start an argument but there is no substitute for actually owning the car and learning how to drive it. The regular 430 horspower c6's do 0-60 in 4.2 which is better than what this guy got with an additional 75 horsepower.

What they tested was straight line performance and this guy made it look like a regular c6 with a wide body kit on it, because like i said he ran slower than a base model c6. Take both cars to a drag strip line them up and watch the vette win by a no less than half a car. People get so wrapped up on factory numbers, but "OWNERS" run faster.

@TheArfdog search "ranger z06. He does a lot of z06 and zr1 runs, with stock tires and with slicks. Best I have seen on youtube with minimal searching was 11.02 on stock tires from him. But also like I said search the corvette forums and drag times because there are faster times than that on stock tires. Also a lot faster bone stock stock tires than 11.6. I only speak from proof and have nothing to gain by making things up.

But the sad thing, is though it is fast, and times are good on tracks, it is not a good car..... Exterior panels differ in spaces, alot of plastic... The cheap sort... And, seats are rubbish, speedo/tacho meter needle looks like shit, syncro in the gearbox is not good, leaf spring in the back, and mcperson in front (thats good), stiff back axle.

6 cylinder against a high performance V-8 and the 6 prevails. As a corvette Z06 owner I'm impressed with the Porsche. The Vette is bigger, wider, and heavier than the Porsche (with equal HP) so its not as aerodynamic or quick. However I do commend Chevrolet for that sweet small block engine.

The fact that this guy has literally never even seen one of these, explains why he gets such slow times... Corvette's especially the ZR1 and Z06 are not cars you can just get into and expect to be very quick in right off the bat. They take tons of time to perfect a driving style. While the GT2 is not necessarily easy to drive... It is more user friendly then the Vette.

The victory of the GT2 is hardly surprising vs. Z06, given the higher power (530 vs. 505), the superior traction due to the weight distro (RR vs. FR), and the flatter power band since it's a turbo vs. the normally-aspirated Z06. This is all perfectly fine, but what I cannot STAND is when journalists lament the "leaf" spring in the 'Vettes. The Vette has a high-tech COMPOSITE TRANSVERSE LEAF SPRING at the back, not the ELLIPTIC leaf springs found in trucks or "lorries"!!!!

Yes, the GT2 is twin turbocharged but the Z06 has almost twice the displacement, 7 liters vs 3,6 and two more cylinders, V8 vs H6. So engine wise at least I think it's a fair fight. And yes, spend the price difference on forced induction on the vette and it will be faster. Otherwise it would be weird given the advantage in both amount of cylinders and displacement.

Lots of people accusing Harris of not knowing what he's doing. I disagree. He's a professional racer- he knows exactly what he's doing. In this case, he's a professional PORSCHE racer with an agenda to intentionally sandbag the Vette. His deliberately slowed his shifts which and bumped the top of the tach in each gear, allowing the Porsche to pull ahead. Let's get someone equally experienced without an agenda. Andy Pilgrim comes to mind- veteran of both cars.

Yawn... the only thing this proved is that the gt2 is easier to launch on any surface and it's easier for a random person to come along and get close to factory number claims. The best run in a z06 in the 1/4 mile(10.981) is better than the best 997 gt2 run. Not trying to start an argument but there is no substitute for actually owning the car and learning how to drive it. The regular 430 horspower c6's do 0-60 in 4.2 which is better than what this guy got with an additional 75 horsepower.

But the Z06 still held its own against the GT2 considering that its not as powerful nor tech savy. But like I said the GT3 vs Z06 would be a much more suitable and better comparison, or the 911 turbo vs Z06. The ZR1 is the one in the GT2's stomping grounds.

What they tested was straight line performance and this guy made it look like a regular c6 with a wide body kit on it, because like i said he ran slower than a base model c6. Take both cars to a drag strip line them up and watch the vette win by a no less than half a car. People get so wrapped up on factory numbers, but "OWNERS" run faster.

But also like I said search the corvette forums and drag times because there are faster times than that on stock tires. Also a lot faster bone stock stock tires than 11.6. I only speak from proof and have nothing to gain by making things up.

@WhoDaManMe I love the fact that you can challenge ferrari's and lamborghini's and other goodies with a corvette for only 60 grand... But the sad thing, is though it is fast, and times are good on tracks, it is not a good car..... Exterior panels differ in spaces, alot of plastic... The cheap sort... And, seats are rubbish, speedo/tacho meter needle looks like shit, syncro in the gearbox is not good, leaf spring in the back, and mcperson in front (thats good), stiff back axle.

@WhoDaManMe The engine is closely in family with chevy truck engines.... But the worst thing is that it is awful to drive as an every day car..... A Porsche would do it gladly, a Ferrari would do it too, but the corvette is more of a track car, which is too stiff for everyday driving....
But, as i mentioned, a "supercar" for the people, with a nice praice tag, NICE! But, the price if deserved well, when looking at all the downsides.

@2URBO2 I'm not trying to be mean and don't take this the wrong way, but what does what you have to say have to do with anything? It’s not in response to anything I said nor does it have anything to do with the video. The video is comparing performance not build quality, so that’s what i commented on, the performance aspect. I don't care if a car is made out of soda cans performance is performance bottom line.

@WhoDaManMe Well, it has something to do with the price tag? Which is an important role for a customer? And for me, it matters, and it is important for others too. So dont be like this...
