I think it's great to know what sorts of standards RT has for someone to be interviewed so we know more accurately where RT stands. Nothing for or against this video. I often watch RT, but it doesn't mean I want to keep a blind's eye to RT's flaws.
On the other hand, I find TheRealNew's interviewees often rambles away. It's liberal, but too nitty gritty detailed for audience's attention.

The importance of RT is a good tool against US propaganda. It doesn't tell much about Russia but it says a lot about the US. Russia is not bombing the planet, US is.. I don't care if RT is biased and hides Russia's crimes, we will always know about those from the usual crappy BBC or Fox or whatever, but RT is about something else.

I'm so happy you brought this up Paul. I consider RT to be a cynical imitation of the superficiality and biased mediocrity offered by US MM. Now that I come to think of it, mediocrity probably also best describes the vast majority of other countries mainstream networks. It started by giving voice to outcasts of American politics and economics realm but the AMATEURISH STUPID QUESTIONS and SHORT RESPONSE TIME ALLOWANCE NEVER WENT AWAY.
So the question is really not about Russia's state funding, in my mind at least, it's about RT's own production staff and editorial management who produce pieces which do not conform to Russian state policy. Especially on foreign issues, I've seen many pieces which appear to either ignore, or actually contradict, Russian diplomacy.
Where RT does a better job though is through its RTAmerica wing, offering perspectives some Americans might see as a refreshing change from the Pentagon cabal.

I, for one, agree with your assessment of Russia Today. It's my impression that Russia Today not only has an anti-US bias, but in general, an anti-Western bias. I think the comparisons some have made to FOX News are right on the mark. He's calling out Russia Today for being what it is: a state-owned news channel. This is not American administration taking points, this is calling a duck a duck. I think it's great to know what sorts of standards RT has for someone to be interviewed so we know more accurately where RT stands. Nothing for or against this video. I often watch RT, but it doesn't mean I want to keep a blind's eye to RT's flaws.

In Russia, the situation is revered: CNN really is the most trusted name in news when it comes to Russian affairs, and RT is rightly seen as an arm of state propaganda. So the question is really not about Russia's state funding, in my mind at least, it's about RT's own production staff and editorial management who produce pieces which do not conform to Russian state policy. Especially on foreign issues, I've seen many pieces which appear to either ignore, or actually contradict, Russian diplomacy.
Where RT does a better job though is through its RTAmerica wing, offering perspectives some Americans might see as a refreshing change from the Pentagon cabal.

Not to mention the fact you never dig down deep into the cause of the issues. All of you media outlets are tainted. You do touch the surface on a lot of things but you have the same talking heads that lie to us on the MSM on here as well spewing propaganda. You don't drive home real issues like Al Queda in Libya.

I, for one, agree with your assessment of Russia Today. It's my impression that Russia Today not only has an anti-US bias, but in general, an anti-Western bias. I think the comparisons some have made to FOX News are right on the mark. Everyone knows FOX News has a strong conservative bias, and I don't think anyone has to watch Russia Today for long to figure out they've got an anti-US, anti-Western bias.

He's calling out Russia Today for being what it is: a state-owned news channel. This is not American administration taking points, this is calling a duck a duck. RT is excellent when it comes to showcasing poor US policy, for instance on Israel, and gives many great speakers like Finkelstein a podium. But you should never forget that Putin is not a hair better than any other leader out there and deserves just as much critique.
