I honestly CAN'T understand the bad reviews (or bad comments) of this. I LOVED this film! Great music, great performances and funny too! Lots of laughs in my cinema.

It's down to the script which is not up to the mark.

The actors were good but wasted on so thin a storyline.

The on-air swearing would not have happened and a government minister called 'Twatt' shows how pathetic the scrpt could be in places.

Branagh must have been embarrasssed by such a cliched role - they could have used a cardboard cutout with an articulated mouth.

Every bad review this got was fully deserved.

This film is based on Radio Caroline in the 60's only they have named it something different but its about the ship that began radio 1 in the mid 60's that the bbc tried to stop in the end they allowed it because it was more popular than any othr radio station.

Nearly but not quite - see my comment below. The Beeb did manage to get the pirates banned, despite their popularity. Then they set up Radio 1 as a pale imitation, with lots of the old DJs. I remember it well.

However, thank god at last someone has seen fit to commemorate the most exciting time British Radio has ever known, I lived it and my god I loved it, such a magical time.
