I love black & white photo images of NYC. This is baby-making music right here! Monk is so smooth on the keys. Trane is a beast as always. wilbur ware's bassline are on point!!! can't get enough of it!!
@TravisBIKES - That is likely possible, though I only buy albums so don't know. "Thelonious Monk - Complete 1957 Riverside Recordings" is the remastered two-cd set that this track comes from.
@paganmaestro Great, thanks. My high school big band is recording the bill hollman arrangement of this tune tomorrow morning for part of our audition for the Monterey Next Generation festival. A buddy of mine has been stealin' licks from this recording. Coltrane's a boss
@PorroFirst -Monk was a true musical genius who even dazzled Miles with his brilliance.I think he was one of those people who somehow are able to skip a century or two and bring back a taste of what is yet to come.A Visionary.
Thank you for that brilliant black and white slide show.

It doesn't get any better than this, just a fantastic piece of music.

This is just absolutely gorgeous. The original Monk composition is one of his most touching, but this takes it to another level.

Thelonious Monk's melodies are STILL hard to understand for ordinary people today. I wonder when history will catch up..

Trane's tone is fullsome yet restrained. This combined with his work ethic helped to inspire the best in other players. Thanks for posting.
