im not going to post spoilers, just theories. Peter is trying to change the future because Nathan's exposing the people with abilites caused a chain reaction with not so favorable results. Peter did get the scar but probably in a different way (different future, similar circumstances).

Notice when Claire wants to kill Peter, he has his face scar, so we're back to the future in this scene hehe
