Apple's website CLAIMS this dock supports video. However, I have tried 2 different universal docks. The older version apple sold 2 yrs ago has an S-video port. That one worked and supports video. I tried to use apples newer dock that requires their $30 AV cable and could not get video to go through to the TV. I tried on two different TV's using an iPhone 1st gen, an iPhone 3G, and a 160 gig iPod video. The results were alawys the same- S-vid dock worked, new universal dock is a piece of crap.

there's a way to assign your apple remote that came with your imac to your imac, and to assign the one that came with your dock to your dock, so I'd look at the apple website to see how this works

hey, i dont know if you've found this out already, but you can pair your remote to work with certain devices. ie: pair that iMac's remote to it, and this remote of yours won't control its front row

Okay. I now have the universal dock remote - to my 160GB classic. And I can say, that there are higher output from the dock, than from the iPod itself. Maybe because we have a 100db retriction here in europe, to protect the ears.

if iTunes is open on your Mac and you use the remote it doesn't open FrontRow...it just controls iTunes. i use it all the time. it does the same thing with the DVD Player App.

Just sync your iMac's remote with the iMac and then the iMac will only respond to the remote that came with the iMac and the remote that came with the dock will only work with the iPod.

Turn your ipod screen brightness to 0% when video taping it, it`ll focus better and wont be all high contrast.
