  • I just got a baby cockatiel today, the video helped me feed him for the first time today! thank you.

My parakeets are frightened of him. They're 4 years old and the cockatiel is already bigger than them. They're nice though, they're curious and was watching me feed the baby quietly.

  • i never knew that cockatiel babies can be this loud lol

  • @stargazrt4 is it okay to give a baby bird at night? or is it like a normal baby you got to get up?

  • so cute so grew up so fast

  • Hi,ive remove a baby cockatiel 3 weeks old from nest.when i put the syringe in front of it ,it does not beg for food.should i force the baby to eat?thnks

  • My cockatails Laid 4 eggs then two weeks later Chico was born. Then two days later lucky was born! Then a day later, Sunny was born! Now theres only one egg left and there parents are really good parents:) They feed them and cover them up even the last egg:) Just a question, Chico is about 4 days old he his the oldest. When do i start taking him out to feed him? or should i wait for the for the rest to be at least 2 weeks old? Thanks:)

  • Wait until the last baby is at least 10 days old.

  • @stargazrt4 hey i got a question i had two canarys that laided 4 eggs about 1 week later all the eggs were gone? and the cage isn't a open cage so nothing thats bigger then a size of a hand can get in can u please tell me wat happend to the eggs?

  • LOL shes like mooooooreee moooooooreee moooooreee and when u give her more Yum yum yum

  • hi.. help, help, help!!! My 2 babies (@ pin feather stage) have been rejected by mum! Although dad feeds them, mum has been beating the 2 babies up... even drawing blood! I can't rely too much on dad... he has a history of pulling feathers from his babies... SO... I need to hand feed them... BUT... I am in Thailand... no baby bird food, no baby human food.. what can I do? atm I am feeding them a cereal drink mixed with warm water and squashed up bananas! HELP! thanks folks - alan

  • @Samuilife Here you go: used by Dorothy Speed from back in the day (1969) 1/3 egg yolk, 1 teaspoon baby cereal, white corn flour, 1 teaspoon wheat germ. Add the banana also. Blend and mix into a thick gravy or to split pea soup look and serve from 104 F-110F degrees.

    ~Rodney

  • @stargazrt4 ... If you were here I would give you a humongous hug!!!!!! Thanx a million! I couldn't get the baby cereal, but found a shop selling sachets of cereal powder (no sugar/salt etc)... expensive, but perfect! The other stuff was no problem, and the babies are taking it easy... I'm even starting to get a feeding response from them now! (bobbing heads etc). I am one very happy chappy. BTW... 'mum' has already laid another egg! She couldn't wait! lol. Thanks again - peace - alan

  • That is wonderful!

    ~Rodney

  • awwee... ashley is adorible i was just wandering ... how much food do you need to give them at a timee... cause im planning on breeding my cockatiel sunshine.. but i dont know anything about the babies and stuff... although my grampa breeds canaries... but they are much smaller and dont eat as much as cockatiels do soo plzz answer me :) thank you

  • I'm sorry for the question but what do you call that kind of thermometer?

  • look please help me with this problem that i have. my little cocktails have babies but i don't know why they hit them, and well i know more than two moths heaved passed since they were hatched so, do i take them out of the cage??

  • @emmanuel4198 its because they want to nest again i suggest you get another cage though the parents will still persue it

  • @emmanuel4198 Yes you need to take them out if they are weaned.

  • roudybush

  • Dang! Their screeching is freaking loud!!! Cute bird though!

  • that was so much better than reading how 2 hand feed. thanks very much 4 that:) how old was ashly wen u started hand feeding her??

  • With most smaller parrots you start around 14 days.

  • Will cockatiels be nice to their roommate?

  • Most will if the space is large enough.

  • Very informative!! Thanks....

  • lol

  • its just so cute, i have a cockatiel too

  • hehehe so cute the whole time shes chirpin she wants food.

  • niceeee

  • do you have a cockatoo in the abck ground?

  • nope.

  • i love your videos!!!! i cant wait until i get my lovebird

  • She's a screamer :)

  • i have a question, your feeding it fast is that ok?

i mean when u feed it i see the food overflowing out of its mouth.

is it supposed to be that way or you can feed it slowly?

  • You should feed the tempo the birds' set. Our cockatie and amazon wanted it fast, our lovies want it mediu speed.

  • It's so cute! :3

  • WOW I am lucky as both mum and dad tiels here love their 4 bubs...i shall deffo use this as a reference just in case they stop feeding their bubs!

  • my cockatiel is 5 weeks old she eats small seeds but i sstill give katee 1 time every day

  • Kaytee is a horrible hand feeding formula.

  • i am hand feeding a female cockaieil thats 5 weeks old when i try to give her food with the syringe she's not paying so i grab her to feed her and she goes crazy she would shake her head and splatter her i need help please

  • Thanks so much for this vid. My female tiel just abandoned her eggs yesterday morning, so I have to hand-raise them. The daddy flew away a week ago, so I guess I am gonna be mommy.

    Again...Thanks. This helped.

  • where do i buy food?

  • OMG, THANKS!

I bought these 2 baby cockatiels called Chukie (boy 4 weeks) and Coco (girl 5 weeks) and i fed them with a spoon and im not sure how hot you need it to be so my birds don't eat much... again thxx!

  • what kind of baby food is that?

  • Roudybush

  • what do u mix that with water ?

  • My cockatiels HATE Kaytee :P well to be more pacific my birds :D

  • my cockatiel also hates katees exact

  • She is Adorable!!!!! I have a cocketeil and he is under 1 year!! Is that your cocketeil or do they all get adopted? :)

  • So, i know i just commented on another video about food for a cockatiel. I'm getting mine from a good friend and a co-worker to raises cockatiels. I know she's been feeding the Kaytee exact formula to the babies. When I get my new cockatiel, do you think it will benifit better in the long run to feed the Roudybush food after being hand fed the Kaytee food?

  • yes

  • Thank you!

  • my cockatiel does all the same noises when he wants my food XD

  • how old is she in here

  • 5 weeks

  • that noise!!...i can tell its on medication lol

  • i think ima get annoyed from my babys & omg messy but obidient & cute

  • Comment removed

  • omg that noise was coming from that??!!

  • @123eldest the babys that telling you that its hungry

  • My little Tigger was the messiest baby. I just love all their little sounds. My heart would just melt every time he did the little num, num, num sound swallowing the baby food.

  • this little one looks and sounds sooo precious. :) You seem to be a pro at this, but if it were me, I would be so afraid to handfeed incase I caused it to aspirate.

  • My goodness... Ashley's lungs certainly work perfect. lol. She's cute! And very well behaved.

  • I wanted to give you an update. YOU ARE RIGHT. I switched and the babies are much better. They are much happier and quieter. They do not cry and scream like they used to. They also have better stool. You were right. THank you SO MUCH for your help. Priceless. I don't see why everyone is arguing. Just try it. The food even tastes better to them. My birds hated Kaytee I think.

  • God bless you!

  • Aww! I remember when I used to feed my cockatiel like that. I only used kaytee and he is now 12 old and as healthy as cockatiely possible.

  • This is not going to turn into a debate about Kaytee formula, because I know the facts from college professors and board certified avian vets. Compared to Roudybush, Kaytee is a hard formula to digest and absorb the nutrients. Remember when your bird's poop was brown? That is not normal and the proof. Also, supporting Kaytee is supporting bird mills.

  • Please do not cuss. We have to remove those comments.

    ~Rodney

  • Babies fed on Kaytee have brown, almost human like poop.

  • Mine did not.

  • I knew you were going to say that. I am glad that you love your cockatiel and he is healthy.

  • Roudybush is the handfeeding formula we use. We used to use Exact Handfeeding formula before we were advised by our Board Certified Avian vet, Dr. Burkett, that Roudybush formula was way better for babies.

Wow, did we sure notice an immediate change in our babies! We, at first, were puzzled why a few babies in the first clutch we switched over were crying in the middle of the night. We were feeding them the same amount of Roudybush that we had with Exact.

  • In discussing the change further with Dr. Burkett, we discovered that the babies weren't getting enough food! Why was that? Well, the Exact Handfeeding formula did not digest very well and would stay in the crops for a long time (this can create complications alone). The Roudybush formula was actually digesting and the crop emptying faster!

The babies plumage and health has definitely improved since switching to this formula. We highly recommend it.

  • I am handfeeding 3 baby tiels since the mom was plucking out feathers from their heads :( there was some blood so I separated them. Feeding them has been difficult because they eat frequently - not when their crops are empty (only in the morning of course). I'm scared they're over eating but I can't deny them food!

  • Use Roudybush handfeeding formula only. Exact will give them a bacteria infection which will cause them to cry all the time. Cockatiels just from the nest around 2-3 weeks should be feed 4 times a day: 8, 12, 4, and 8. Feel up the crop until it looks like a full balloon.

  • What about kaytee?? I've been using kaytee. I'm going to look for Rougybush. Thank you so much for the info!

  • My bad!! I see that exact is kaytee. I never really looked at the box. Thanks again.

  • what the nosie

  • The parents are somewhere in Florida and we live in NC; we have never met them. We got Ashlee in NC when she was very young because we felt the need to bring her back to health. BTW, when baby birds wean, the parents, especially the mothers will drive them away. This is what "mother nature" does.

    ~Rodney

  • Some baby cockatiels were abandoned and dont have their mothers a fathers. When i got my first cockatiel he was 1 week old and his parents wouldnt take him in so the pet store owner put him up for adoption. I was his mother and he didn't have his ordanary father. so not every cockatiel has birth parents.

  • how long does it take for a baby cockatiel to hatch?

How long does it take for a baby cockatiel to be an adult?

  • 5 or 6 months it becomes an adult and now can eat seeds

  • Ashley's loud!I think its because she saying FEED MEE!! lol she's very cute =D

  • omg i just got a beautiful 115$ white faced pearl cinnamon cockatiel he is just awesome but he hissis and he has some blood on his wing, but i called the guy and he said thats normal whenthey grow feathers hes 2 days old now and starting to come around:).

  • hey i need help my cockteil got a eye infencuion but i can't find a ven anywhere so what can i do or what can i give him please if anybody got an idea please send me a email

  • Please take them to an avian vet.

  • I wasn't hand fed, but I know you'd make a fine mother cockatiel.

  • you are feeding it too fast...I am worried the baby can get choked

  • No worries. We were feeding her just as fast as she could take the formula. :)

  • Where are parents?

  • Man, that screeching is pretty hard on the ears

I guess you got used to it, heh

  • it is just wonderful!

  • hi, i have a female 3 year old cockateil.

i am a bit worried because she has quite big bald patches with fluff underneath her wings. can someone tell me why or what this is?

  • Is that the cockatiel screaming? if it is then lolz

  • cute but the noise ahhhhhh

  • do you use the same cerinch as the one from the lovebirds

  • i used to feed my cockatiel the same way but i had a small pipe with that injector so the sood goes all in

  • I have a question. How long is it before they'll wean?

I have four to feed, and I'll be feeding them Kaytee Exact.

  • Exact is hard for the babies to digest and is a main cause for sour crop. Our board certified avian vet recommends Roudybush.

  • Hm... well is it okay? Because I just bought it and my Mom will be angry if I tell her I can't feed it to them.

Maybe should I try putting more water into it?

  • It will not make a difference with more water; that would actually make it worse. Just take it back and order Roudybush.

  • i just bought 1 2day she is a cinnamon pearl pied her name is ashley 2

  • LOL THE HEAD KEEPS MOVING UP AND DOWN BACK AND FORTH UP AND DOWN BACK AND FORTH lol

  • oh my gosh! i miss my little arnie as a baby! hes such a brat now! how sweet they are!

  • The noise they make when they're young are Horrendous...

    But they are cute

  • What are you feeding your new born cockatiel i have one that has been born today.

  • aww so cute

  • that guy aint that small... lol

  • hi my teils had just had 2 new baby and then didnt look after them and we left them becuz we tought that they would start 2 look after them shortly but they didnt :( and they died and there are 2 more eggs in the box now and we are going to hand reer them becuz there parents dont no wht 2 do wid them but we dont no wht 2 feed them plz cud u tell me plz??

  • DO NOT attempt to feed them yourself. You could drown them if you make even the slightest error. Instead, you should let an experienced breeder care for them.

  • well for what i know, some people ask the vet, but for me you but a special powder at the pet store. Then you mix it woth hot water and that's baby food, be sure you know how much to feed it! (ask a vet

  • Do you have any other breeders that you know of in the area of harford county, my grandmom is looking for a cockatiel for some company. I raised one from this age as well and it was wonderful experience to have.

    Thanks for your response. Karen

  • lol he didn't sound to happy to be set down

  • but his mother can feed him right?

  • Normally yes, but her mother is not present, so we have to feed her!

  • Why can't you just feed her seeds?

  • Because she is a baby. Seed should never be the only diet for a bird anyways. That is very unhealthy.

  • What all can you feed a bird?

  • We have a daily food regimen video. Check it out on our channel (can't post a link). It's the same as what we give our lovebirds as for our other birds too.

  • im thinkin uv gettin a cockatiel this december but im gone from 8:30 am 2 3:10 pm should i have some one thats home more often 2 take care uv it wile im gon?

  • i am not at home from 8.15 till 4.15 and no1 is at home with my cockatiel. but my cockatiel does just fine. u just gotta feed him and fill up his water bottle or nething that contains water in his cage and thats about it. just make sure u give him enuf love when u get home.lol

  • lol @ tiel Ashley says: "HUUUUUUNGRYYYYYYYY HUUUUNNNNNGRYYYYYYYYYYY STOP TALKING I CAN'T UNDERSTAND YOU JUST FEEEEEEEEED MEEEEEEE"

  • how old are they suppose to be to eat on there own? and how often should you feed baby cockatiels a day? cause my friend breeds them and she wants me to have one.

  • y does Ashlee keep making the noise through oput the video?

  • she was just hungry!

  • baby food as In human baby food.

    Any kind rigt?

  • No, definitely not. We use Roudybush Handfeeding Formula, especially formulated for birds.

  • i found a cokatiel is a baby so i feed it baby bird food but how do i bathe it cause it was wild i think but it doesnt bite

  • You don't bathe it.

  • y not

  • Number one, you don't want him to get cold or sick. Also, cockatiels produce dust and that is how they clean themselves.

  • but it gets baby food on its body and gets hard to tke of

  • You can let it dry and pick it off gently or you can just use a damp (not soaked) paper towel to wipe him off. Babies are just naturally messy!

  • hey cool my name is ashley but i spell it a-s-h-l-e-y cute and loud!! :)

  • My cockatiel is 13 yrs old, and it won't even budge to eat a seed off my hand

  • LOUD BUT CUTE. its a baby so of course its cute :)

  • Omg that baby Cockatiel is so cute i love it and also nice name that bird has ^_^ I love Birds alot any good types of them also i have pet and they are budgie. I love playing with them when i have freetime.

  • How I can make that my COCKATIELES have babys

  • Is that a stove?

  • yes.

  • No we did not. The breeder did and it was horrible. She is finally growing them back!

  • why would they clip a baby birds wings thats just mean

  • I don't know, but thankfully, Ashlee is getting her feathers back now (molting) and flying around here like a crazy bird!!! We love her!!

  • its not mean, its to prevent it from flying out a open window. -.-

  • If you are referring to wing clipping, there is a right way and a wrong way. The right way is so the bird can still glide down safely to the floor, but can not get lift. Also, an unweaned baby bird should never be clipped until after they are eating on their own for several weeks or months depending on the species. If they are clipped before they are weaned they can suffer improper muscle growth, insecurity, and less self-confidence. We have let Ashlee grow out her wing feathers.

    ~Rodney

  • Oh sorry I meant your demonstrations. ;)

  • I have seen your other hanfeeding videos and I am just wondering, Why is it wrong to have air bubbles? Does the bird get sick? Just curious. I love your handfeeding videos. People who have little experience can handfeed because of you demonstrations. ;) 5 stars.

  • If you get air bubbles in the crop it can hurt or kill the baby.

  • i hav cockatiel birds and they had little babies T.T but sadly we had to sell the baby cockatiels but i still hav my 2 grown cockatiel birds ^_^

  • when I moved out I took a weened baby teil with me. He drives my roomates nuts when he screams.

  • Baby Cockatiels Are So Cool. I wish I Had Got Mine When They Was Baby's

  • Aww i remember handfeeding my guys. It's that they the breeder sold me a unweaned babies they just didn't want to wean even at 11 weeks old. I think it was mainly comfort food. She sounds so much like my noisey boy hugs when he was being handfed.

  • Ahh the gift of life......

I have two cockatiels, although they keep fighting and it drives me insane

  • ok if i get a cocketiel, i have one, if i get another one would that one i have like it? it it cause a fight? or anything? i would looking for a male? i have a femal tiel. someone send me a message. i wont be looking back here

  • i have one named thunder

  • I almost started crying, I wouldn't be able to breed cockatiels. XD

I have one Tiel now and I'm getting another soon, in like a few days, my name one will be a beautiful white-face. I can't wait to bring him home! <3

  • You're so cute... We couldn't breed them either. We rescued this little girl and she was unweaned when we got her.

  • I used to breed cockatiels. This video makes me want to do it again. I miss that noise. I also hand reared all of the ones I had bought from the store. They're great pets.

  • Oh she is so sweet! You made a wonderful job, thank you!

  • That must've drone you insane o_O

did she always scream? Even when it wasnt feeding time?

oh well, her cuteness makes up for it :)

  • what a great idea and dat bird is so cute

  • god he screams xD

  • i think she said where is my food where is my dam food oh there it is yum

  • i have a 50 cockatials in an avrey

you do a beautiful job.... very well done.

this looks like a white faced --

    normal?

I lost my white faced male last year.

    I miss him soooo much....

  • We are sorry to hear about your loss. Ashlee is a female white-face cinnamon split to pied.

  • your bird is so funny
