im sort of like the votes on this. I like and dislike it. Im pagan by birth being native american but with a love of Christ teachings my morals are a bit different. So i combined the 2 . Jesus the witch.. blessed be.
I think its awesome that there is actually finally some real light shed on the wiccan life, people need to understand how we really are, there is WAY too much ignorance and animosity out there for witches. Blessed be
I'm a solitary for 16 years I need more interaction other than the occasional or the lady in the little known witch shop in town D: I live near the Dells in Wisconsin I hopw we get something like this there.
i am a teenager and am interested in wicca. i really appreciate that you are posting a series on youtube so that people can learn about it. thank you ^_^
It was intresting when talk of initiations came. I'm cureently a solitairy ecletic pagan, myself. But I respect those who are in covens and wish everyone luck on their own indivisual paths.
I was a solitary eclectic for around 6 years before I found a coven that I felt truly comfortable with. Many were good, but it's not easy finding the one that fits best. There's nothing wrong with being solitary either, lol.
I enjoyed the interview. I know that Bonewits said that Grimassi was a sloppy scholar, but I have read many of his books and have always been impressed.
I think he is a good speaker as well as the second person being interviewed at the paganpicnic. She was a real natural on camera. She should speak more often. The interviewer seems so respectful. I appreciated this episode and am glad to hear that ellen dugan made it out there!
Certain ceremonies are fine public - you can even find them on Youtube. But initiation ceremonies are incredibly personal, life transforming experiences. Broadcasting someone's soul laid bare would be considered by most to be incredibly rude if not actually a violation of their person. The only thing that springs to mind as a mundane parallel would be to broadcast someone's wedding night lovemaking.
The second degree is like "Physical boot camp" where you go through a few trials. Your faith is tested against reality... and after that experience, the instructors would decide if your sanity is intact and can move to the 3rd degree.
They are different levels within an organized coven. It's practiced by all the original traditions, but may or may not be practiced in newer or eclectic traditions. 1st degree is obtained upon initiation into the coven. The other two degrees vary from one coven to another.
Ok, clue a girl in. 1st degree? 2nd degree? 3rd degree? what in the world does that mean? whats a degree stand for? I find this stuff facinating. I had a councilor who was pagan, she was AWESOME. I was living in a domestic violence shelter and she really supported me threw that. Anyways, good vid. Very interesting.

Curious, I know nothing of Wicca, but why can you not show the ceremony so people that don't know what it's all about can see?

First degree - pentacle head is pointed upwards.
Second degree - the point is downwards.
Third degree - is placed pointed upwards again.
The second degree is like "Physical boot camp" where you go through a few trials. Your faith is tested against reality... and after that experience, the instructors would decide if your sanity is intact and can move to the 3rd degree.

Yes, what is 1st degree and such? I am quite unfamiliar with those terms. What kind of Wicca is it included in?

Oh, I see. I am an eclectic Wiccan, and that explains why I did not know. :)
