i think as many others do that as a musician and singer, john may have had the edge over tom. however, tom was a vital part of ccr, and without him, the music we still enjoy from ccr would not be the same. ccr could never have been ccr without tom fogerty. regardless of the circumstances, how long did ccr last after tom left?

It is so good to see Tom, Randy, Bobby and Anthony. I was Tom's secretary when he formed Ruby. I have some great black and whites of the group. Tom was a good guy.

Methinks this was a very sensitive man and as mentioned below on some posts - seriously underrated! I love John Fogerty and his music but Tom certainly had his own thing to offer. Thanks for the post.

wildhorse... these things are obviously a matter of taste. John better now then then? in terms of his skills he certainly has kept up admirably- and his performances are amazing- I have seen him live twice. but his albums are not as good as CCR. great bands have synergy. Ringo far better than Cosmo? I don't know, both great drummers in my opinion. THis TF song good? dont hear it myself.. but that is just my two bit opinion... respect

It's back to my statement of people falling in the trap of comparing to the past. John's last few albums have been every bit as good as CCR. And much better than Mardi Gras where he let the others sing. Cosmo isn't a bad drummer but he is not as steady as Ringo. That might be my opinion but it comes from many years of playing along with them both. I've seen him live in both CCR and just last year as himself. No comparison, todays band is much tighter and his vocals are superb.

thanks for that.. I don't think it's a "trap". I don't think you woud get much support for your statement that John's last few albums are as good as CCRs. the songwriting and urgency just isn't there. again, I think he is in great form. saw him again last month and he was fab. as for the drummer comparison... you are obviously more qualified to judge so I will bow to your expertise.

Not looking for support kerpin. It's a pretty well known fact that people have the tendancy to prefer the original recording that they first heard. You could take Creedence Song or Wicked Old Witch and stick it on the original album 40 yrs ago and noone would have been the wiser. There was crap then and there is crap now but I like it all.

John backing Clifford and Cook into contributing equally to Mardis Gras (last CCR album). the only point I am trying to make here is that if there had been a bit more democracy in the band they might have lasted longer and we would have been spared the nastiness in the legacy.

a number of comments show up on youtube insisting that Tom was the real talent, not John- sorry not rational. admittledly he deserves credit for co founding CCR and John should have been less controlling and let the other members contribute a song here and there. But really, this song is not that great

- listen to "joyfull resurection" to hear a good TF song. most of his solo stuff is middling.

John is what made the group and he has proved that over and over and over again. He did what he had to do. If the others were so great and Tom (God love him) was the real talent then CCR could have gone on without John. The fact is that was impossible. Tom's vocals are weak compared to

John's. The best I've heard Tom do is Rock Road Blues which is hard pressed to tell it's not John. Hearing them live in 70 though all the parts were there even tho John overdubbedin the studio

I think you are essentially agreeing with me. all I am suggesting is that if each member had been given a song or two on CCR albums they may have lasted longer. even Ringo got to sing one once in awhile. John did his best work with Creedence so, though he is the main force and one of Rock's greatest- the CCR rhythym section brought out the best in him.

Essentially agreeing regarding John Fogerty's talent yes. But John's work today is just as good without them. The real problems is that critics fall into the trap of always trying to compare to the past, and errantly thinking the past was always the best. Listening to John today he is even better than he was in 1970 both vocally and musically.

As far as Ringo goes he's a better singer than Cook or Cosmo. And a much better drummer. The albums those guys sang on weren't all that good.

Cook and Clifford always have and still praise Johns writting and singing. It was Johns idea to have them write and sing. They didnt want to, it was tom that wanted a shot at singing a song or two after all he was the bands original lead singer when they started as the golliwogs and blue velvets It was Johns bad business sense and crappy contract and the fighting between the brothers that lead to the break up. John figured it was an out from his contract but that backfired on him

Tom was my first love in this band. As a performer, he was very underrated. I haven't heard this song, nor seen any video of him beyond the CCR days. His voice made me sit up and listen then, and still does. I have acquired most, but not all of his LPs/CDs through the years. So thankful to see and hear this remarkable video. He passed away the same year as my father, so this is poignant. Thanks for posting!

Cool! I read about this video's existence in the Bad Moon Rising book. I like alot of Tom's solo material; I've got his best-of CD and copies of his first 3 solo albums. I would recommend his solo music to any and all CCR listeners.

Thanks Theresa! The sound, made famous by CCR, was more his work than John's! And the rythm section Doug and Stu, TOGETHER they made CCR famous ! It's still a pity that they, had to..., break up so early!
