Cool kick,but you really should weigh the risks when throwing those.high kicks lose force the higher they go unless its a jump kick and most importantly the kicker becomes off balance during the kick.a reverse foot sweep this kicker would be toast.in my opinion mma fighters should shy away from them /balance is everything at all times,in mma every second is crucial -but u gotta say they look good though

Then I see different Combat Sambo comps like this one where the point system is different and no head/shin protection is worn. Can anyone explain?

that kick looked fine to me, a snap is usually applied for speed but it was fast and effective anyways. the technique was fine, theres just multiple ways of throwing a hook kick depending on which style you take, so think before you go saying its wrong.

I agree, boxing is a martial art... however, it's not very useful for much other than sport.

For example, most fights end up grappling and on the ground. Punching a hard surface on the body with a closed fist is also a tactical mistake, because of... boxer's fracture.

Boxing is better than nothing, and most definitely better than a martial art that simply teaches forms and katas... but in todays world, where a lot of people are trained fighters, boxing just doesn't cover everything...

I disagree. I think boxing is a prerequiste to fighting in general. Even today when the UFC and grappling arts are popular, punching is still a major part of street-fighting.

It's true that you could injure your hand if you hit the forehead or the top of the head with your fist, but the general face area below the eye brows is a very viable target. Not to mention the torso.
