Half Life 2 is one of those games with a soundtrack that perfectly fits. Hearing this, with the waves rolling up on a coast littered with scorched cars and ruined cottages, is way creepier and more disturbing than a game like Dead Space.
This game is very powerful, Its Gameplay, storyline, very strong Structure, Gordon Freeman is yet the best character created, Ravenholm is something everyone would remember if they played the game, those who havent played this game should get a crowbar to the face...
This plays in the chapter 'Sandtraps' shortly after you leave the zombie infested tunnel and come across a house with some combine outside and a lot of charred corpses.
@Blasphemisaurusaoe3 there is a part where you come across a old house on the sea side, there are several burned corpses in a fire pit. a few combine and one of their APC's are there, so its pretty easy to imagine what they were doing earlier.
@Blasphemisaurusaoe3 there is no footage of them burning it, but there are charred bodies which sow the cremators are in the game just u cant find or see them
There was only one part of Half-Life 2 that truly scared me. On Highway 17, I came across a large house overlooking a cliff and, per Freeman tradition, entered and began to explore. Inside I found several health kits, suit power cells, and every kind of ammo in the game. Then I heard a squeaking sound somewhere behind me. I turned around and shot a poison headcrab. Then I nearly shat myself as a poison zombie lumbered into view. I barreled out of the nearest window as fast as I could.
The most powerful part in the highway part was the house on the edge of the road with couple of rollermines inside, and combine burning former inhabitants of that house just outside...
I just lost the last bits of empathy for the combine, all i could feel was irresistible rage
Highway 17 is by far my most favorite part of the game. After all the hustle of surviving Ravenholm you are now presented with a desolate road where there are hardly any places to find refuge in, and the places you do find you see the corpses of Resistance members at the feet of Combine soldiers.
It truly made me feel I was all alone. Almost hopeless.
@canertwo you mean rollermines, right? The balls to roll towards you and zap you? The Hoppermines appear when you return to City 17, those things that hop towards you and explode when you get too close.
This sounds sad, it makes me think about what happend to Ravenholm. How it once was a peaceful town, until the Combine shelled it. Which made it Hell on Earth.
I think i'm going to put this in my mod i'm making, since my mod is Action, Horror. I guess it fits the mood
omg some one please respond! what is the name of the song when just after u get pulse rifle secondary ammo and the guy is hit just bfore u get the car
@AngelOfDeath454 good. and the [insert adjective here] part is that i found out that it was triage at dawn later that session, but I didnt remember exactly were you posted, so i couldn't tell you. oh well, good thing that someone told you!
I don't know why, but one of the most impactful moments of the entire game for me was when I went off road and found a destitute house with some combine over a fire pit. I dispatched the combine and got out of the car, seeing bodies in the pit that had been ripped apart and burned, the house full of bodies and blood.
u guys do realize valve just took the very ending of the dark energy credits song from the game ost and played it over n over to make this track, right?
@CripChillinz You come out the tunnel thinking ravenholm is all over then Ravenholm gets its last laugh with a fkin black headcrab that jumps off the legde then once you think your safe with your ten or so hp you get sniped by a combine and i forgot about the fast zombie :'C. This bit in the level remminds you that it is not over yet :/
Yeah, I *finally* got to play HL2 recently. I bought the Orange Box on Steam during the Holiday Sale. Six years late, but I finally got around to it, and it is an awesome game. I have played through HL1 at least a dozen times, but there's just no comparison. HL2 is a classic to be remembered forever.
At the moment, however, I am a bit stuck on the big strider battle to save the silo, near the end of Ep2...
@CripChillinz I agree with you, it reminds you of what the Combine have done to Earth, the rusting cars presenting those who use to travel along the coast before or during the Combine's invasion...powerful.
