  • I love this version! Staying true to the original!! :D

  • @danaaa130 Thanks! :) Ironically this trailer doesn't bear much resemblance to the book OR our movie, but it represents the first time we combined our collective skills to make some footage, and it was good practice. It's always nice when people like you get what we were doing, though.

  • Believe it or not...I did or I do want your version of The Wizard of Oz to be Wonderful and a beloved classic in it's own right, which is why I had wanted to be a major part of it, contribute and help make sure it was a success. The only email response I got back was Sorry that their was no way for me to audition- just that. I personally know and am friends with John Fricke ( Judy Garland & MGM Oz Author) & all the remaining little people "MGM Munchkins" and VIP people who could have helped you!

  • @AStarryKnight I just browsed back through my inbox. I never told you we didn't have a way to audition you, in fact I never responded to your e-mail at all. Yours came at a time where we happened to get many others, and got lost in the shuffle. Had you sent me a follow-up, I would have apologized and been glad to audition you, but you instead chose to spam our videos with insulting comments. If our film is so awful you'll be glad to learn you don't have to follow it obsessively.

  • You made this look like a horror movie

  • @DreamsofCentaurs We have our reasons for that. Give us a little time and we'll show you the other side of things.

  • how far along is this project now ? Im still most dubious of the midget witch business but i have not seen any desgins. I think everyone has there invisoment of oz i never viewed it as a tiny person land mostly because mombi was big in qaudling land and ozma was normal size and the winkies well they never specified the size anwyas good luck

  • @jayjayhibsybones Thanks for the well wishes. If you'll bear with us for just a little while longer, you can judge for yourself whether or not our Witch height is a mistake. Keep an eye on this channel in the coming weeks.

  • omg it sticks to the original story

  • Looks Like its going to be a crappy remake.. HOLLYWOOD JUST STOP just because you own the rights to a move and can remake it dose not mean you should.

  • @michaelsilberstein We're not Hollywood, chief. But thanks for the compliment.

  • Either that, or a pair of shoes. :-p

In fact it's both; but yes, an actual movie. Most likely a direct-to-video release, but our plan when we finish it is to enter it in some film festivals and see what kind of attention it gets. And maybe we'll wear the shoes...

  • Are ANY scenes completed and finished yet? Also I REALLY wanted to be part of this project, sent emails and photo's and resume with experience ( I was in a Mark Harmon Movie) and was told their is no way to audtion me. When I emailed you easy solutions I never heard back, I am from Massachusetts. Someone on your project is from Maine I read. Where is this being filmed and cast? You should post that in your possible auditons section cause that sucks. MGM Oz will be hard to beat it's depth & love

  • @AStarryKnight - You corresponded with Clayton, the director. He is, indeed, from Maine. We're filming in Virginia, mostly, and he's paying for his own commute here. Clayton told you he couldn't really set up in an in-person audition but you could send him a video, which is how we've handled most of our auditions on this thing since we're working across such great distances. You'd have to either pay your way to get here for filming or do a voice role by telecommuting.

  • No one ever sent me this email nor told me about Virginia or doing a voice role by telecommuting!! That is BS. Sorry I of all people really wanted your production to be a success instead it looks like a mess and a horror movie! MGM works because their are many characters everyone can relate to and like even the Wicked Witch. Your Dorothy is good ( looks more like Dorothy in her head-shot photo thou then in this movie ), but none of your other characters are likable or relatable!

  • @AStarryKnight You know nothing about cinema, you GlaDOS?

  • i watched other clips of her on green screen she just seemed to overactive

  • @jayjayhibsybones Oh. Well...we'll see how you feel about it when you see some finished scenes. Most of the audio we recorded on-set is being replaced in post because we didn't have the option of shooting someplace quiet, so the audio often got spoiled. And since she had to act, usually, opposite someone like her mother reading for the other characters, a lot of the audio was never going to be used anyway.

  • @KeyserSushi Regardless it is hard to judge based on the clips seen, she needs to pull of all the acting necessities i.e. crying. Of all the dorothy's i have watched on other film adaptions cartoon or live Faruizza Baulk's dorothy was the best to date she managed to act the role with maturity yet innoncence. dorothy needs great pitch in voice oz fans should expect it, i just saw a girl acting but no pitch meaning her voice acting wasn't stong enough. good luck with this film it's got promise.

  • any responses would be liked also can i ask will this dorothy be hyperactive all the way through 'i thought all witches where dead' sounded way too 'acted' where is the worry the enjoyment she just seems to happy. i get dorothy was on an adventure in the book but i don't imagine a girl just causually being so happy after a twister.

  • @jayjayhibsybones I don't know how you can tell anything from that one audio clip...not only is it one line, but it's buried under a lot of distortion and echoes. She was twelve at the time of filming, and while she had a lot of acting experience, and talent, she didn't have a lot of training. However she was already better than many of the college drama students who auditioned for roles - her line deliveries tended to be very natural, while the students over-acted...and didn't get roles.

  • i wonder why you have decided to make all oz character her height minus the illustrations in the first book. there was never any mention that the oz characters where the same height as dorothy. in fact in later books i think they specified they were taller such as the scarecrow and so on.

  • @jayjayhibsybones well except the munchkins

  • @jayjayhibsybones From a storytelling point of view it made sense to me to have all the people of Oz be short. Dorothy is the light and color in Henry and Em's world, but everybody in Kansas is so serious and dour all the time, there's no time to play games or laugh with her. In Oz, she fits. Her arrival is heralded and she's treated like an equal, not as a child. Having everybody be her size is a nice visual cue that ties back to that.

  • @jayjayhibsybones In at least the first three Oz books, most of the characters were shown to be short. Even the Wizard himself appears to be a little person. Also consider that the Scarecrow was made by a Munchkin, and thus from Munchkin clothes, so of course he'd be short. And the Woodman used to be a Munchkin. So he'd be short as well.

  • is this going to released into a cinema or DVD? I like aspects of your oz sticking by the book and the original illustrations which i adored reading as a child. However i do feel certain aspects don't work as well. For example this dorothy looks to modern still she needs vunerabilty, from other videos i watched she's not how i invisioned dorothy. i still think she and this production has potentail though. it is hard to ever compare to the mgm version although it is not like the book it is iconic

  • @jayjayhibsybones Wow, you've been busy. Hi there. I'm writer/producer Sean Gates. I'll try to answer your questions as best I can.

We don't have any distribution deals, so we can't make any promises about theaters, though when the film is done we'd like to take it to Sundance and see if we can get any attention. Failing that it'll certainly be available on DVD and Blu-Ray.

  • @KeyserSushi OMG Dude...think outside the box. Your avenues and options are endless! Have you been to any Wizard of Oz festivals and set of up a booth to promote it. Their is one in Indiana every year and thruogh out the counrty, California, chicago ect. Also Comic book conventions. Comic Con, The Shy Fi Channel, Dinsey, Nike, Oprah's new net work, the International Wizard of Oz club, network, network, network, BE SEEN, SHOW MORE, also it's difficult to find you in searches.

  • @AStarryKnight - Believe it or not we've been invited to present at an Oz convention this summer in Banner Elk, NC, which is an official International Wizard of Oz Club event. We'd like to be seen, AND to show more, but honestly we've shown everything we can at this point. There's more coming but with our small crew it takes time, man. How can we make ourselves easier to find in searches? We did take your advice about tags.

  • Damn, more of the twisted darker side of Oz. I love it! Can't wait! Although, there seems to be a lot of Oz movies coming out, very strange but very cool, too.

  • This seems like its going to be horrifying...

  • @chad2CCC Don't let the teaser fool you -- we went with the tornado as the big idea for the teaser, and tornadoes are frightening. Doesn't mean the whole movie will be. This also doesn't actually feature any footage from the film.

  • I know the girl who plays dorthy!! She is my babes buddy!! Love ya mare!! :)

  • @AStarryKnight You can find our contact information on the website. Shoot us an e-mail and we can see about an audition.

  • The Wonderfull Wizard of Oz O_o.??

this movie looks likeThe Dreadfull Wizard of Oz

  • @Fearsome0ne If you're referring to the horror elements in the teaser... eh, tornadoes are scary. Hang tight for a bit and we'll have something that displays the lighter side of our project.

If you just think the trailer itself is dreadful, then... uh... sorry?

  • Ok Guys it's 2012 can be get a month in 2012 that this dreadful horror version of Oz will be released? I know you can sell it on Amazon at the very least and all Oz fans will want to see it even if it sucks and possibly Sci-fy or AMC channel could buy it. I see what you are trying to do,but Oz is for everyone and your version is not. Their are many dark comic book versions of Oz which yours seems more like so that is the crowd you'll attract, but family's you will not so limited

  • @AStarryKnight u mad-er?

  • I am so up-set like I said that no one ever said to me that I could audition by getting to Virginia or telecommuting. I wanted any role in this movie and especially the voice of the Great and Powerful Oz Head, which is Oz. Also you lost many possible investors when you went to whatever Oz convention it was- with the bad and not completely finished clip of the Wicked Witch reveal not being done and making her TOO GROSS!! I even offered you Oz author contacts & the MGM Munchkins.

  • @AStarryKnight u mad?

  • che schifo

  • A brunette Dorothy? Ah, MGM Oz...

  • @ilnaras:

I can assure you that our Dorothy's hair color has NOTHING to do with the MGM Oz.

It has EVERYTHING to do with the fact that our actress is a brunette.

  • So is this one of the offical films? Looks more like the "Dark Oz" series anyway, but a scary Oz? Well if this is one of the films, alot of offical are coming out around 2011-2013.

  • @TVOYFT :

    1.) Define official

2.) Our film is NOT a "scary" film. We made a teaser about the tornado. Tornadoes are scary. Except for the ones that heal sick people and give puppies to children. Oh, wait...

  • this would also make an awsome video game

  • SUPER EXCITED ABOUT IT =D

  • Excellent. I've never read the book, but you definitely put an idea in my head of just how different it is.

  • @VaportrailFilms The book isn't like this trailer. The finished film may be more like the book, but I assure you, this trailer isn't.

  • @MaskedMan66 - That's true. The trailer is basically made up of spare footage, none of what you see there is even FROM the movie. We scrambled to get some shots that looked more or less finished so that we could put out a trailer to drum up some interest, but none of the shots in the trailer are going to be in the film, at least not exactly as you see them here. Whenever we decide to put out a second trailer it'll be with actual footage from the film.

  • Wow. This looks really interesting. I just made a version of 'The Wizard of Oz,' But this teaser alone blows my version out of the water.

  • Love it! Dorothy did look older somehow. I was chatting with another fan about it and he pointed that out too. He also thought there was a gun at 1:06 but we finally figured out it was an oil can.

  • @nightmarecrazy08 - all of the Dorothy footage in this teaser was shot on July 4th, 2009.

  • Watched it twice . . . . Love the opening Music!

    What did Dorothy say?

    LOVE the FLASHES!!

It's like "Tin Man" and "Twister" combined into the Oz we like to see!

    I'm surprised how Dorothy looks a bit older 0:40, and I thought there'd be more thunder during 0:47 . . . .

    BUT I LOVE THIS!!!

  • @VideoSam16 - Glad you love it, Sam. Perplexing that Dorothy looks older to you; this footage was all shot the same day! :)

The Dorothy line really isn't meant to be clearly decipherable as it's kind of like the flahes, a piece of the future coming with the storm.

But it's, "I thought all the witches were dead - at least that's what Aunt Em told me..."

  • is there going to be anything on the witch in the silver shoes cause i really want to see what they look like

  • @nicholasbarwick - Perhaps you've discovered this already, Nicholas, but the silver shoes are used in the graphics on the new website. As for the Wicked Witch of the East... you'll just have to be patient. But she IS in the movie.

  • @KeyserSushi om i have not seen it on the website or the wicked witch of the east i think you are reffering to the wicked witch of the west

  • @nicholasbarwick - when you click through from the splash page to the main site, and you see the window in the center of the page with the welcome message, scroll down to the end of that and you'll see the Silver Shoes.

The Wicked Witch of the West is on the site, but the Wicked Witch of the East is not. However, it's the Witch of the East who had the silver shoes before Dorothy, until the farmhouse fell on her. I assumed that's what you meant by "The witch in the silver shoes."

  • Interesting blurb on the back of that newspaper...

  • @jaredofmo - Which blurb you referring to, Jared?

  • @KeyserSushi Seeing the front, there's quite a bit... References to "Return to Oz" and the MGM movie all in one piece. Nice!

  • @jaredofmo - Man, I'm just glad somebody took the time to read all that. It was both fun and somewhat difficult to write enough material to fill that page. I hope you can read the one about the missing Omaha man...

  • @KeyserSushi I can barely read it, even going frame by frame. I can see what the headline says. Clever!

  • @jaredofmo - well, I'll tell you, because you seem like the kind who would appreciate it... we name-dropped Ozzy Diggs. :)

  • cool
