the gp5 was first manufactured in 1970s, manufacturing of them stoped in 1986... same really all tho it was cheap, it was good at doing alot from common to more uncommon tasks

the chinese mask is a russian GP5, and is the same one in your first gas mask vid posing as the "German" gas mask, do yu know your gas mask facts?Anyway i love gas masks alot.I dont know how many othe rpeople collect them.

@machogrunty117 It's a Schm 41, not a GP5. GP5 is civilian, and has a brown-colored filter coupling instead of the Schm's elongated snout that is usually green colored where the filter coupling is. The Russian masks were used throughout the Warsaw pact nations, including East Germany while under Soviet control after WW2.

Might seem like a weird thing to say but the ww1 filters wear huge and flat.the ww2 filters wear slightly smallerand more lightweight but still flat...the majoriy that is.then they had mostly round filters.both tall and small...

um no. only the the SBRs and the russian zilinsky model had bigger square filters. the german ones were small round ones (like normal ones today).

and in ww2 only the russians and americans used the bigger flask, box style filters. the americans switched to a smaller round filter during the latter half of the war.

the bigger filters dont mean it is an old outdated design, just means it can last longer and filter more. Big filters are still used today.

the tf-1 is not a copy of the gp-5.the gp-5 is a newer model.there is somewhat of a series of tf-1 like gas masks like the gp-5 type though...you can tell by the variations in the filters.i consider the filters to be a time line

theres a possibility that your tf-1 gas mask filter could have espestos...the chinese gov halted the production of espestos in 2001...that puts the filter in tht year.just a safe precaution

The Mk1, aka MI-I-5, is getting substantially more difficult to find on ebay as it is. Last time I saw one in decent condition was over a month ago. Just keep an eye out for one. They show up every now and again. Expect to pay $30 to $70. Cheers.
