A barrel floating in the ocean will grow a seaweed farm. It would be easy to create rainforest sized algae farms mid ocean. The seaweed farms would photosynthesize, as well as the lifeforms themselves would be made of carbon.

Cheap. Proactive. Harmless.

Also mid ocean seaweed (algae) farms could be towed to countries in need for emergency food, fuel.

Creating a mid-ocean rainforest would be proactive and alleviate fears to many voters. Companies with high carbon imprints would gladly sponsor for PR reasons. These fields could also be used in emergencies for food/fuel.

This suggestion is very practical to Pro and Con advocates of Global Warming.

Chu, a Nobel Laureate in physics knows that there is another greenhouse gas that will be far more destructive than CO2. Methane that is currently frozen in tundra and under the ocean, will be released unless CO2 is controlled. Then, you would have runaway climate change.

CO2 is a GHG. Where it goes to work is on the light that is absorbed by the surface of the earth. That energy is converted to heat and reradiated. Then, CO2 absorbs it in the atmosphere. It takes up a band of the IR spectrum that water vapor does not.

This very basic science has been on record since 1896, Arrhenius. It is not all politics, it is proven, tested science.

Its a matter of absorption. CO2 and most other gases are soluble in water. As the temperature of water decreases it can hold more CO2. When the temperature rises it can't hold as much. I believe that this has to do with how well water stabilizes bicarbonate (most CO2 is stored in water as this--its a salt that forms by combing CO2 with OH).
