The other attraction of doing somethinglike this is that most of the time it is completely invisible. Unlike mad body kits of OTT graphics which are there all the time, the lights can be switched on or off at will depending on my mood and the effect I want to create.
i like neon lights... but thats kinda far out wild for me, id go with a regular eon underglow kit that i might be able to change the color but as 1 solid color, and i wouldnt go crazy like that for the interior, i only do the lights to make them shine on the floors but thats it
This is done mainly for fun and for shows/competition. I dont use them on the road and the LEDs can be switched to just single colours if needed (10 different programmable channels). Mind you, wild was what I was aiming for, LOL
nice headlights, santa just brought me the angel eyes for my zr its yellow too lol. just got my windows tinted the other day so it will look nice a reckon!nice vid too the lights r amazin. where did u get the mg zr glow lights?
If I run just the lights with no sounds/screens/PS2 then I can run it all for around 3 hours or so. Once I start running the head unit, amps, PS2 etc then it drops to around an hour or less depending on the weather and how high I have it cranked.
Just seen you are from New Zealand (I am in the UK) so dont know how easy it would be for you to get the systems I have used. You can try looking at the IceLed website or litewave (google them both). They may send international but the cost might make it too expensive.
Neons are great if you want a soft even glow but you cant get the same colour changing effects and patterns as you can wit LED's. Neons also tend to use a lot more power due to the inverters, can be a lot more fragile and dont have the same working life.
Be cool if the words were that but I think they are just the standard 'Mr Sandman' lyrics. The track has good a neat twist to it though as done my 'Oranger'
Thank you for the kind comments. It has been an uphill struggle at times to get it all working together and it has been (and still is) a gradual evolution. I have got quite a few more things planned but it is finding the time and money to do it. Your comments are really appreciated thank you
its ok, changed your username then?!? you used to the lightsabre if i remember right from my themgzr days :) what else have you got planned if you dont mind me asking
Long before I was Light Sabre, I used to be dR0Og (an old internet gaiming name based on Clockwork Orange). The car is far from the machine I bought and I dont just mean the lighting as there has been extensive work to the engine, brakes, suspension etc. I have got a few ideas to come with an update to the boot and the interior along with a few more lighting effects to the interior and exterior. Even this video needs updating from some of the effects it has had added since I made this
The engine is modded, and not just all the bling (www.mgzr.zoomshare.com)!
It has been to PTP (the guys resonsible for 220BHP racing Lotus Elise). It has new 1.8 wet liners, pistons cranks, con rods etc, high lift cams, gas flowed head and plenium chamber, 52mm TB, ITG Maxogen carbon fibre induction kit with a remapped ECU. Will do over 130mph which is quick enough for me!
The engine is modded. It has been worked on by PTP and converted from a 1.4 to a 1.8 with high lift cams, 52mm TB, gas flowed plenium chamber and an ECU re-map. Add to that an ITG maxogen carbon fibre induction system and it is one hell of a lot quicker with so much more torque. It has been clocked at over 130mph on track which is plenty fast enough for me.
Not really as most of the lighting effects are LED so the current draw is less than a standard light bulbs. That said I have uprated the battery but that is more for the ICE than the lights. The 2 screens pull 10 amps each and monoblock for the sub and amp for the fronts pull maore than that. Still I can run for an hour or 2 before I need to run the engine up to recharge everything.
Only problem is that the rest of the car trim is chrome and alloy so black rims would look a little of out place. I have seen some TY ZR's with balck wheels and they do look good so maybe if I ever change them I might consider it. Thanks for the suggestions though, they are appreciated and welcome.
Watch out as some of the cheap ones use resistors to stabiles the 'dirty' volatges that you get on a car. They dont last long and can burn out quickly. Watch out for those on FleaBay, although there are bargains to be had. Litewave do some good ones from VARAD as well
The lights are actually LED tubes rather than NEON andcost around £500 for the underfloor (UFO) system alone. There are lots of other lighting effects that are all integrated with this system as well as a lot of stuff I have designed and built myself.
The lights are made by IceLed and are sold by www.litewave.co.uk which is where I got mine from.
Hope that helps and if you need any more information just let me know.
Thanks for looking and commenting, it is appreciated

The MG ZR glow lights I made myself using electroluminescent sheet, an inverter and designed and printed the mask on my computer.

ohh thats hot,get some rims and it would be hotter!!

I am running 17" Wolfrace urban racers with Yokohama Prada Spec 2 tyres. What rims do you suggest? Any larger and the performace will suffer

I think some 17''black and chrome rims will really make your car look like a true turner car!!
