I am post op 2 weeks, and although I am so proud of my progress (45 lbs since starting opti-fast, 15 since surgery) I still have that "fat" mentality. I find myself looking/craving anything and everything that it is bad for me..I feel like its consuming my thoughts...I am hoping this feeling subsides...did you encounter anything like this?
Thank you for sharing your story...gives me hope!!!
Wow, I can see how much that weight gains emotionally affecting you, even though from the outside you can't tell. Your videos are the best on YouTube and I watched some of them before deciding to have it done myself. I'm having it done on 22nd October 2011 (12 days away) and I'm nervous, but excited. At least you're recognising the problem and videos like this one will really help yourself others in desperate times.
You are such an inspiration because you have struggles but are still doing great! I am having gastric bypass in January. I have been on a supervised diet and I am doing not so good. I hope this gets easier after the surgery even though I understand I will always be battleing. Do you have any advice I could use? I love your vids thank you for the inspiration.
how are you doing today A.J.? thanks for sharing your journey. I just rounded the 2.5 year post op marker and live with a 9 year rny post op guy (my husband) and i get where you are coming from. keep the videos coming and take good care of yourself. Onward!
Oh hey! Have you tried - fast abs magic (google it)? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my brother in law got ripped 6 pack abs and lost lots of weight with it.
I too am 3 years out and I wish I could say that I have had no sugars. I have been eating sugar since I was about a year out. However, I do not eat sweets on a normal basis. I still eat healthy most of the time. Sweets just don't have the appeal that they used to have before I has RNY. Instead of eating 40 cookies, I have one or two. I have not gained any more than 7 or 8 pounds and have been able to lose it. Hang in there bud! You can get through this.
You recognize your slip ups and you know what you feel you need to improve. You've done much harder work than this in the beginning and we are all here for you to give you the support and encouragement you need. You are an inspiration and your honesty is refreshing. Take care and here's to continuing the journey...
Hi matey, I don't want to pat you on the back and say it's ok, however 15 pounds is now easier to lose than it would have been for you 5 years ago, you already have the knowledge and the tools to lose it. Don't go punishing yourself, fact is food is yummy and everyone has there slides. BUT small amounts of yummy are ok, your back on track now so chin up, be proud of yourself even when your feeling not so proud. xxxxx.
AJ you so great for being this honest! Please eat your vitamins OK? These videos are a great way to get back your accountability! Yes your doing the right thing now!
my grandma used to say, god bless her, it was just to kill the belly bug craving that food xD Of course you should not eat bad things at all, but since we have to educate ourselves all over again it was a way i could stop thinking about bad foods so much and after a while there were weeks i didn't eat bad things at all.. old habbits die hard, and we have to find a way so we can cut them off gradually. We're here with you, you'll never go to battle alone :)
I don't know after bypass but when i was dieting i had a system so i didn't start to eat wrong everyday, if i exercise and eat like i should for a week i could eat one small no-no-food, small amount always, like one square of chocolate, or one glass of chocolate milk, and one day a month if everything did well i could eat a no-no-meal, that way i didn't crave the bad things so much cause i could eat it once instead of cutting all off completly and it gets your mind off of it a bit
Hang in there! Thank you for putting an honest face on a problem most people don't even know exists. Most people think gastric bypass is a cure for obesity. It's not. It's a tool - and like any tool it can be misused or become ineffective. Kudos to you for stepping up, taking ownership, admitting you slipped... and making a commitment to get back in the fight swinging!
You know what they say, "you can't change what you don't admit". You look great & I'm glad you are getting back on the wagon. 15 lbs. isn't much, but it can lead to 20, 25, 30+. I know from personal experience how easy it is for old habits to sneak back in---btw, I think that fast food is one of the biggest enemies of weight loss/maintenance. Yes, you can find healthy choices at fast food joints, but I find that I'm more successful when I stay away completely. Preparing meals at home is better!
Your honesty is amazing...theres alot of people who wont fess up to mistakes and I admire people who do!! I know you will get to where you want to be!!! Stay strong :-)
Thanks for the honest discussion and the news or information that the battle is never over. Glad you realize it at 15 lbs instead of 60. Keep posting have enjoyed your old videos
2 days ago I finally got my surgery date. I have my bypass on 10/19 and I really appreciate the fact that you have taken the time to make these videos. There's a LOT of things people don't tell you and things that you wouldn't ever think to ask so thank you for this. When I start making my videos, which will be soon (after I get over this awful cold) I want to put the bad out there too, because I know it will not all be rainbows and sunshine.
Wow... I am proud of you for telling us that... I had my surgery May 20 and as of today I have lost 66lbs. I am so freaked out if I put anything that I shouldn't and gain my weight back... I admire you for telling us that and we are all human and we make mistakes.. I hope that I don't eat anything or drink anything I am not suppose to before I would fall backwards and gain all my weight back. I know to many people who had this surgery and gain it all back and more. Thank you for telling us that
