  • I wish there were some videos of Horseshoe during the last years of the Pennsylvania Railroad...circa 1966-1968....SD40's, SD45's, etc. They seem to be nonexistant.

  • @meccaturbo

I would love to see those also! All I got is memories of back in the 60's, visiting my grandparents in Johnstown. They hand a house on a hill with a back porch that had a great view looking down onto the 4 track mainline. Also a great view of the local trains going in & out of the stealmills. I spent many hours on that back porch. And when mom & dad said time for bed, I would peak out the bedroom window watching trains. In bed the sound on the trains put me right to sleep!

  • The altoona area used to be the third busiest railway in the world. I used to go there when I was a little kid. That's how I fell in love with trains.

  • Love the horn on the second train's leader

  • Its just Horseshoe not HorseShoe

  • Notice the lack of graffiti on railcars back then, apparently that was not

the thing to do in 1995.

  • @JSTONE9352 Not everything has to be grafittied on

  • Beautiful film. Bravo. 5 *

  • blue!

  • Looks like a C30-7 on first consist, then second one looks like a pair of SD60M's or SD60I's and a CW40-8 on the lead and SD40-2's on the rear.

  • 6509 is a SD40-2, the 2nd locomotive is probably a C30-7. 5520 and the 2nd unit on the 2nd train is a SD60M, with a C40-8W and the helpers on the rear are also SD40-2.

  • @iceman977th No, the second helper is an SD45-2.

  • @meccaturbo I know that now lol. that was back when I was just starting railfanning again. :P

  • @iceman977th No problem! It's good we can all enjoy trains :)

  • The first engine in the first coal consist looks to be a SD-40-2 and the locomotive helping it appears to be a GE of some sort. What kind of engines made up the 2nd consist?

  • I have heard of Horshoe curve I have never been there but want to go there. excellent video Bob I enjoyed watching every bit of it

  • worked on them old engines thanks good vid

  • i miss the Conrail Blue!!!

  • Actually all of them had Leslie horns.

  • Nice train video! My favorite type of locos!

  • I live in Catonsville MD and we have a place were about 40 trains come through in a day

  • amazing video, what a heavy long reighttrains.

  • Wow I really need to get there some day. I live about 40 miles south of Chicago and you never see railroading like this. where I am it is mostly METRA commuter trains all day but still you can see some freights. Even for 1995 that Camera still shoots some pretty good video.

I'm looking forward to seeing those other videos Bob! I'm sure they will be great.

  • Nice! Thanks for sharing

  • Your Welcome BF!

I spent 8 hrs there that day. I shot Video of about 30 trains. 75 to 100 trians go by each day. Even though I uploaded 3 train videos I got better ones then this of that day. But My device I use to tranfer vidoes from VCR Or Camara went bonkers on Me. As soon as I get another device I will upload the rest that are even better then this!

  • sweet that was a great job
