  • I agree with this! I have one set of knives i havn't thrown straight yet. Lot's of times the sides of them would hit the would and the metal would bend a little.

Then i'd have to bend it back straight. I agree with this idea because if some knives are thrown wrong, they can take more of a beating. Knives will last longer if they keep sticking straight into the wood.

  • Thank you.

You are right, this video is very important way.

  • Dear Suzuki Sensei,

A safe and progressive training method, impressive. 5(000) stars.

    Arigato from Singapore

  • Thank you.

The difficulty that a lot of people experience first of a beginner of No-spin-throw is a rotation of knife.

At first I offer a way restraining a rotation as a practice first.

After this was enabled, if you wanted to stab, please change one of next factors

Please do some positions which knife divides from a hand in late place.

Please incline some angles to forward,of the knife which you held.

Please move to the position a little front which had knife.

    Then knife comes to stick.

  • Arigato Houzan Sama! ^_^

  • How can I get the knives you use? Do you make them yourself?

  • A knife in this video is marketed in America.

It is a knife of Mr."Bobby Branton".

In addition, you can produce the throwing knife which I designed in site of "Dragon Hoshi Defense".

When it is necessary for you, please search Internet.

  • hello..

may I ask: do you think training with chopsticks is a bad idea, bad technique, or is it just different to how you practice?

    Regards..DB

  • Chopsticks are "too light".

Some people use chopsticks for indoor safety.

However, Japanese, there are few people practicing it with chopsticks indoors.

    ___

It is not limited to chopsticks, some light dart(Shuriken) and knives than 50g have danger for our arm.

    I experienced it.

After having thrown dart of a weight more than 100g, I threw light dart and hurt an elbow.

Some people broke down in elbow in the same reason in Japan.

Light Shuriken is so that "force does overrun".

  • For example, he hurts arm if he threw ball of table tennis in force the same as a player of baseball throwing ball of 145g.

Even if heavy dart(more than 100g) throws 300 or 500, it do not hurt an arm.

The reason is because "moderate force and balance of body are kept."

A weight more than "about 80g is a safety zone"

There is a very interesting phenomenon.

I threw Shuriken of 100g for the first several years

I threw Shuriken of 200g once

Several times of a beginning were very heavy and felt it

  • However, I do not feel it heavy in three days.

Our body fits it immediately and can adapt ourself to a weight.

A lot of people experienced this thing in Japan.

But this is in case of man(than 15 years old).

I consider a woman and a child to be good by 150g from 100g.

    ____

I do not deny a practice with chopsticks.

However, when used light chopsticks for a practice, please pay attention to "practice too much it".

If your arm elbow became painful, please stop it.

  • Please take a rest "if you felt sting on arm and an elbow a little".

The force that remained can hurt muscle tissue of our arm.

We swing an arm fast, in case of light Shuriken.

Therefore there is a person hurting an elbow between unconsciousness occasionally.

Probably Chinese people are ancestors of this skill. Because old days they used chopsticks of ivory. Ivory is limited by Washington Convention now.

Chopsticks of ivory and plastic are slightly heavier than tree, there have a force.

  • By the way Mumyou-ryu does not use chopsticks.

    We use heavy Shuriken.

But it is very dangerous to practice heavy Shuriken indoors.

Therefore, this time I upload an approach to do it safely for all of you.

Heavy Shuriken(100g--200g) works naturally and becomes slightly late speed.

It acts on safety for our arm.

    Warm regards.

  • thank you for this explanation. I will take care not to throw to hard or too often with my 60-70 gram shuriken, until i get heavier ones.

  • Mr.Shawn

    Thank you. (^-^)/

  • thank you very much Mr.Suzuki you helped me very much cause i practice in doors and cant practice outside yet cause the weather is very bad.

  • great video...

  • Thank you very much. Excellent video.

  • Sugoi Shishou...I usually train in my basement when its dark out or whatever. By the way, do you make your own shuriken, or do you have a blacksmith make them?

  • There are three kinds of case.

    1-I make it with myself.

    2-I order from a smith.

3-I finish it by myself after having order from a factory processing metal.

  • Wow, then you make them really good...what do you use to sharpen them? I use a grinder. Just out of curiosity

  • Grinder and file and grinding stone.

  • Cool, and to get back on topic, good video, and thats a good way to train. I alsi find training at night to be good to...just a suggestion^^.

  • okay than it is like my Bakken Kamikaze ryu kenjutsu which litterally has no translation but when u split it up into

bake - ghost and ken -sword it means "the art of the godly blowing ghost sword"

    really interessting to hear that

  • "Darkness of nothing that there is nothing" that I said is not an ominous(negative) meaning.

There are not sacredness and evilness there.

There are not God and gods there.

There are not a denial and affirmation there.

Because it means state of the essence that the world and light do not begin yet.

  • i didnt want to say that your and my style are the same please forgive if i eyplained it wrong

what i wanted to say is that the name of your ryu has no meaning literally but it has one in your mind

and the term "godly" in the name of my ryu doesnt refer to "the god" its just a meaning of its goal to be perfect in the use of the sword at the end of its study (which never ends)

anyways your ryu is named the style in the state of perfect peace

which means it doesnt have to be used to fight?

  • great video Suzuki Sensei 5 stars

  • Thank you Richard('y')

  • thanks suzuki sensei

i love the shurikenjutsu u represent im getting better and better at throwing with no spin every day with a combination of your and park sensei's tutorials they are just the best instructions i ever got

are you a descendant of an old ninja-clan or did you just learn the mumyou-ryu because you wanted to?

    greetings and my biggest respect

    *bow*

    Cheerok

  • DearTimo,

I am not a descendant of an old ninja-clan.

And I did not learn Mumyou-ryu.

    I invented Mumyou-ryu.

    Thank you.

  • you invented it?

you get even more respect from me for this ^^

what does momyou mean translated in english?

    im curious to know that

  • With "myou" of Mu myou-ryu, it mean a world and the state that it do not make dark clearly after death of "the other world"or "world of the dead".

And, with "Mumyou" which I named, it is not determined in a meaning "there is not darkness" or to "light up blackness in a light".

It is "world of the dead"or "darkness of nothing" of nothing", in other words, a meaning of "the world that there is nothing".

Mumyou-ryu has purpose to boil that throw "a sword of acardia" of a state of "Zen".

  • In addition, Mumyou-ryu is own way that I name.

There is not a connection with a school of tradition.

  • thanks for the video upload

  • Thank you Sensei, I will start doing this tomorrow. It is very cold where I live right now, and I cant throw for very long outside. This came at the perfect time for me.

    Thank You again. James

  • Dear James,

    Timing was good.

It is just the good time.(`u^)

  • This is an interesting concept Houzan! I will try practicing like this soon.

  • Thank you once again for these instructional films.

Far from boring, these techniques have re-awakened my interest in shuriken and throwing knives.

I have always used the "spin throw" in my practice, but this method has been very rewarding and meditative for me.

    Domo arigato gozaimasu.

  • ありがとうございます、先生!

  • Mr.Phil,

    Thank you.

    I say repeatedly many times.____

Please make gap of 3 inches between target and towels.

Shuriken does not bound by this and becomes safe indoor.

And please hit Shuriken(or Knife)to target with in a perpendicular position.

If you learn this control, a flying distance of Shuriken by No-spin will grow up(remote).

  • Ah, thank you. That helps a lot.
