i was reading about Bell Witch, in the film the Ghost is betsy herself like her soul trying to get her to tell her mother and also punish her father for melestering her. But books say there was 4 different ghosts that enjoyed hurting the dad and in the end killed him. And got more violent torward Betsy/Elizabeth. JUST GO ON GOOGLE. =]

This movie was good and maybe even underrated a little bit. Of course it wasn't The Exorcist level but still worth watching. Donald Sutherland and Sissy Spacek were wonderful as usual but Rachel Hurd-Wood made this film - phenomenal acting!!!

i just watched this movie and i seriously dont understand it. i get that her father raped her but who lifts her up in the air and beats her? argg i hate horror movies..

After her father raped her part of herself died it was that part that became a spirit of its own and caused the hauntings for not telling what happened. so it forces her and her family to come to terms with what happened to her and get her to stand up against it. I personally think it was a representation of the courage and strength she lost and the stuggle between telling and fear. It was at the end when she gets her courage back that she is finally free.
