  • I'm saving for this right now! What an awesome plane - functional LED lights & beacon, flaps that work. Wow!!! I can't wait - at $150 this is a real value man!!! I've been a 4 & 6-ch RC Heli pilot for 2-yrs. now, having just graduated to CCPM 6-ch flight, but seeing this Cessna really takes me back as I learned to fly in '74 in a 172 Cessna and then started renting 150's... Love it!

  • @crazylegs973 this plane is great for beginners like me hahah but im pretty sure you can turn them on in flight. Ill have to double check that for you.

  • Hey im wondering of getting this plane or the skybus can you please help me decide? Thanks that will help me alot

  • Is this good for beginners? And also can you turn on the lights while it's in flight?

  • @TheVinnyisawsome I ordered it from these guys (Nitro Planes)

  • i want one were do we order it from???

  • Do you think it would be possible to install a light FPV rig into this plane?(live feed via antenna)

  • @Scar527Outdoors It depends on how heavy the equipment is but if it's pretty light it should be fine.

  • This video was the reason I ordered this RTF. I watched a ton of videos and looked at a million different planes, but I kept coming back to this one. Can't wait to get it in.

  • @tomgillotti were did you order it from??

  • Just ordered a red ARF, $118.19 delivered. Looking forward to doing tricks with this sleeper. Last 3 planes have been from NP, no problems at all, thanks for providing nice aircraft at affordable prices guys!

  • fuk flying my plane near a rifle range, i want my plane to stay in the air, and not to be a shooting duck pmsllllllllllllllllll

  • Awesome video. How big of a field do you need to fly In? How about a high school football field?

  • @1511116 I would say the field that we fly in is about 1000ft x 1000ft. You might run out of room pretty quick if you fly it at a football field.

  • It's very much like my cessna182.They fly very stable but i feel you need to fly off hard strips it will go off grass but struggles.nice plane.

  • i just got this yesterday in red, took out taxied around and after getting the rudder trimmed out i took off and the thing pitched way up and stalled which i recovered from then did a stall and a wing dip and into the ground! i repaired today but im worried about the next flight!

how much deflection should i have on aileron and elevator? aileron seems too slight as does rudder! also on checking the CG should the plane balance about 1 inch begind leading edge?

  • questions. 1. Are the flaps better or worse for a beginner? 2. Because i have a mac i cant buy a flight simulator thats reasonably priced. Is it necessary to use a flight sim if i use a beginner plane like this? I have flown a little before. 3. How much space does this need to fly? I live near a golf course, so will that work?

  • @jayandjake Get good on a 3 channel like the mini super cub (what I did) then move on to this when you feel confident. Can't comment on the flaps.

  • Would this plane be able to support the weight of a GoPro camera?

  • @Dabears2323 I don't think the plane will support the weight of the GoPro, we do sell a dice cam that really light, check it out the item number is 86P-988-Dice-MiniCam

  • The battery hatch can trick you- you can put it on real tight, and it will still fly off unexpectedly. I suggest securing it with tape as a precaution

  • Like that guy in the bottom said, where is the receiver supposed to go? at the moment i just have it squished on top of the battery.

  • @Weezing818 if you're really anal about saving space, the wires can be folded, tied up, and stuffed in the back towards the stabilizer servos. the receiver can then be stuffed into one of the little compartments on either side

  • wow really great plane im picking one up guys thanks

  • Wow. Seems really stable in the video, just as it says in the description.

  • if thats scale flying.....the full scale plane must fly along at 400 mph.

  • I instructions are VERY lame. Where is the receiver suppose to be mounted? Cockpit? Battery compartment? In the under side servo door?

    Thanks,,,

  • @wjb111

Umm.. this plane comes RTF.. which u don;t have to move around the receiver.. just plug in the cables and it;s ready to go... Hope this helps!!

  • @diaphanoux

    I have the ARF.

  • beautiful baby

  • You guys should get another camera so we can see the controls while you are flying.

  • well dilighting if you read most of these post most are begginers im sure you didnt just jump right into your super scale, just my opinion

    1278army

  • nice flight just ordered one ,i use sky lipo 3s 1800 on my j-3 will these work on this as well

    thanks

    1278army

  • I want to get this plane for my first plane ever would this be good?

  • Just got this plane. Flies very well and has more than enough power. The plane is huge but requires ery littlre runway for take off. Dont let the size intimidate you. Its a great flyer capable of 3D acrobatics.

  • What is this plane made of? Foam, or plastic?

  • @gemster18 foam

  • hi guys i was looking at getting this plane so i was wondering how well this plane will land on grass and gravle

  • @johnmw13 it is possible depending on how rough the gravel is or how tall the grass is

  • @nitroplanes would a 2650mah lipo fit

  • @DarkJet101 A 11.1v 2650mah battery should fit the battery compartment.

  • How big of a battery can you fit in it?

  • is this the same airfield pete from Bananahobby uses??

  • Next video can you do more slow flying for beginners?

  • dose the remote control comes with the plane?

  • Hey Antonia, would a 11.1V 2400MaH 30c 3s work in this also or compartment to small/

  • Awesome but a little hard to see for beginners

  • is this a 6ch cessna or it's just your tx? and is this the newer version of the 4 ch one?

  • I bought this plane, the instructions are very vague, dont tell you 1 thing to do besides the obvious. When you start the engine...it will pick up and go in 10ft or less. Landing gear IS FIXED! The old wire they had for the landing gear is now 1/8 Inch SOLID steel!

  • Wow. I'm getting this.

  • Awesome! just got this plane yesterday! was a slight hassle to get it built but now its up and flying!

  • how do you know when the battery is about to die

  • Love the new Airfiled Cessna 182 sky trainer I soloed in a reel Cessna 182 about 4 hours I love Flying!!!!!

  • Awesome video!

We could all learn from you on your landings. Flyzone makes a cessna 182 that is similar to this one. However, I hope the front gear is more durable on this plane than Flyzone's.

  • I need a new motor which one would u recommend

  • I really need another prop for this I have no idea where to find it I have looked all over please help I will buy one it something

  • Why battery should I get as a spare for this plane can u please send me a link

  • @noobslayer009 any 3S 1800mah from Blue, Sky, and Gens Ace will do

  • @nitroplanes you can get at least a 2200, if not a 3300 mah 3S 11.1V, there's enough room in the battery compartment if you move the receiver and wires out of the way

  • do i have to cut bit of the tail to put the elevator on like the older versions?

  • Absolutely love this plane and this video. Pilot makes it look so easy as the plane flies perfectly and does nice little aerobatics. Makes me want it badly.

I agree... this dude should post up some tips and tricks videos on rc flight instruction.

  • WTF i mean WTF flaps on a stupid foam model i mean come on i have a 5ft Cessna 182 Skylane powered by 62 Four Stroke WITH NO FLAPS now try and land that Takes triple the amount to land than take off lol all high Torque servos as well lol

  • @DILightning scale reasons thats why there is flaps there should be flaps on every scale plane in my opinion. to atleast have you used to flaps for all planes

  • @johanbipbop nope and never fitted them comes in fast for a landing but takes that bit more skill to get it down cos if u cut the engine on a nitro theres no way u can take another attempt at landing :)

  • AWESOME LANDING!

  • Again,,nice NICE VERY NICE!!!!!! haha

  • haha that dude cheerleads for himself on his crappy landings

  • @mineburg Please post a video of your great landings so that we may learn from you. Thank you!

  • Electronics are bad always lose connection dont get it, mine came with the nose wheel set skrews stripped out so i couldnt tighten the skrews my front wheel was loose i didnt know it and when i came in for a landing the wheel turned and i crashed right into a car and lets just say hot glue isnt ganna fix that

  • nice nice very nice!!!!

  • Would a 11.1V 2200mah 25c battery work

  • @LexLex0987654321 Yes it will i use a sky lipo 2200 mah 3 cell 11.1v 30c battery..

  • What kind of battery connectors does it have?

  • Hi everyone. I've just but one of those and I have too questions. Does anyone know a good place in San Francisco to fly this plane? What's a good wind speed for this plane?

    Thanks!

  • can the navigation lights, anti collision beacons and landing lights be turned on and off by flicking a switch on the extra channel?

  • Comment removed

  • At the beginning of April 2011 I ordered the Dynam Sky Surfer from the banana boys; that still hasn't been shipped (May) so I canceled the order last night and ordered a HorizonZone Super Cub from Amazon last night... then found out it didn't have a brushless motor and was onlyr 3 ch. Then I found the Airfield 55" 4ch Sky Trainer! 55" wingspan is bigger than the hz Super Cub and it's brushless AND beautiful. C'mon Nitro guys send it quick!

  • Just ordered one I'm sooo psyched.

  • Actually, no. I take that back. It came with a small 2-3 cell balance charger with a wire to hook up to a car battery. I never used it. I just use my Thunder ac6 charger.

  • Yep.

  • does this baby comes with wall charger for the plane?

  • I HAD one of these. The build was pretty easy. The tail light connector would not mate up, so I left it hanging out till later. One of the main gear screws would not tighten into anything. Once together and taxing around, the motor stopped responding. All other controls were working, just not the motor. I had to unplug the battery and plug it back in. This happened about three time before my first flight. On the first flight, the plane pitched up on climb out with a slow barrel roll right.

  • @jazhunt21 Then what?

  • Hello.... McFly...... is there anybody in there?

  • Does anyone know if using a 14.8v instead of an 11.1v battery will damage the lights, ESC, receiver?

  • how much flight time did you guys get out of that 30c 2200 mAh battery?

  • I finally had a chance to fly mine due to the weather.I'm fairly new to flying so I was nervous about taking it up..it flew great and was pretty smooth. the flaps actually do make a big difference on landings . I did bring it down hard on the front wheel..no damage at all as far as assembly the only problem I had was with the back wheel screws not holding onto anything. other than that assembly was easy. wish there were more videos of this plane

  • When will u get these back in stock tony??

  • Does wing and braces come off for transporting?

  • @madhouse740 Yes there are two screws on top of the wings right above the fuselage.I Would recomend labeling and connecting the wires inside of the cockpit opposed toconnecting them in the belly of the plane. Thatll give u more room to take off the wings and transport them parallel with the body and you wont have to disconnect the wires. hope that works for you.

  • @IbnAir23 You're right. I also attach the wires inside the cockpit for the same reasons and it leaves more room in the battery compartment and less chance of the wires interfering with the mechanics and in addition, allows for better ventilation. I also moved the ESC forward, directly behind the lower intake of the cowl so it stays cooler. These little tricks and adjustments will keep your plane in the air longer.

  • I love your videos. But what would happen if you fly over the shooting rang? Would they blast you out the sky lol.

Keep up the good work. i see in the forum a question about the lights. Eric commented you did a build on this. Have you or is he just giving you more work?

  • You dudes need to keep these in stock. I've been working the wife to okay the purchase and it would help me if they were stocked at NP! ;-)

  • when will this plane be back in stock?? I am dying to buy one.

  • Not happy at all with this airplane. Instructions were absolutly terrible. The support bar that runs through the wings prevented the wings from connecting flush together. There were no instructions on how to connect the servos so I pretty much had to figure that out on my own (not great for beginners). The biggest problem I found was that there were NO instructions on how to do the balancing of the airplane. So when I took it out to fly, it crashed immediatly and damaged lots of parts.

  • @rpalinka I crashed mine on my maiden flight also.

  • i picked mine up on Sat. at the wram show...first, i would like to say thanks to Tony, for selling it to me..it was nice to meet u after watching all ur videos..n also Antonino!! if was also my first show, but definitely not my last!! Second, when putting mine together, is there a special glue to use on the foam piece that u attach to the main wing?.....it is also where the landing gear bar attaches to!!! thanks again for all ur help..n with the purchase!!

  • Can you remove the pilot if you want for weight reduction?

  • Just received mine today and assembled. No cutting is required at all, very simple build even for a beginner.

  • CAn someone tell me if this new model need to be cut in the taol to put the elevators ?!

  • Nice, nice , very nice....

  • i wanna buy my first plane this summer..im planing on buying this one..is this a good plane for beginners??

  • Is that a good beginner plane

  • ib422000 The people are called Asian. The food is oriental. It is very rude and incorrect to call a person oriental. Don't worry I didn't know until an Army buddy who had been to Korea explained this to me too. So, no worries...

But, this guy does NOT look Asian... So, I'm not sure where your "oriental" comment was based on...?

Of course you are right... they do use "NICE" excessively. LOL I had to laugh when I listened to it after reading your comment. Fly safe!

  • Hey, Tony! Do you know there are other words besides 'NICE' to describe something? You and that other oriental guy for Nitro planes say 'nice' about everything! Is it because you are not really thinking about what to say? Better to have someone write the script for you guys!

  • Good flying, good plane.

  • when will this be avaliable?

    and also is it brushless?

  • when will this be avaliable?

  • i defiantly like the improvement very good job. and that rifle range is a bothersome hazard ha ha. could get expensive .

  • Cool flight Boss.

  • Is there a smaller version of this? Something with a 35-40 inch wingspan.

  • Ok I don't get it the asian Tony is from Nitro planes and the same guy is named Pette is on Banana hobby's and they both have the same planes?????? WTF

  • Hey we can all be Tony for a day of flying Ha Ha,OMG this is a very nice plane I want one of them when will they be in stock.

  • Here's the new version.

Seems they discontinued the flaps, light connections.

    nitroplanesdotcom/60a-dy8938-trainer182-new-rtf-24g.html

  • @16Sammie THAT IS THE DYNAM VERSION, NOT AIRFIELD.

  • @wittpilot

Nitroplanes has a new skytrainer online now, are you saying that dynam will have a new version also.

  • YEAH YEAH YEAH.....WHEN IS IT GOING ON SALE??????

  • When is this plane coming available for sale?

  • that looks awesome to fly :)

  • when will it be for sale?

  • beautiful plane, my brother bought one and I really enjoy the flight but this new version rocks!!!

  • nice and very smooth landing

  • nice flying want one

  • Comment removed

  • New Tony rules.....

  • @catamaranman333 racist, lol

  • I like it a whole lot. I have the previous Skytrainer, which is nice, but I think I just have to have this one. I love the flaps, 3 bladed prop and the nice windows.

  • Everything about this airplane is just NICE! ;)

  • Very nice plane. Details look very good, too. How much? Nice flying too, Tony!

  • don´t go to far, or the scale-pilot will throw up, and make a mess into that plane! lol.

  • Every Body is is named Tony @ Nitroplanes

  • Great video. Can't wait for the production version.

  • Nice!!!! I love Airfield products!!!!

  • Awesome! Please be sure offer an ARF version minus the TX/RX and battery.

  • I'd like to see a full size Cessna do this.

  • This would probably make a good scale FPV plane... Could mount the camera right behind the windshield with just a small hole cut for the lens to barely stick through...

  • So make sure you do nice scale landings and your good to go

  • Make sure you do a range check as my transmitter was faulty

  • The nose wheel breaks very easily if you have a hard landing

  • Mine was boxed from st models

  • I CANT FIND IT ON THE WEBSI HELP!!!!

  • @3560IKEY It's not for sale yet

  • @silverberber thanks

  • Nice flying.

  • Very Nice flying Tony, looks like a very stable flyer too

  • you get what you pay for........nitro planes don't give a shit about their customers. Search for customer reviews on google and you'll see what i mean

  • @free533 i agree 100%

  • Its asian tony with fully body suit

  • @GPNflyman1 he still with us we just been really busy getting ready for AMA:)

  • This is an excellent plane =) ,and also do you guys know when you will be getting the airfield f4u corsair in stock? Thanks

    -52kyt

PS: if you get both in stick im deferentially going to buy them =D

  • Wow, what a great looking model!

  • Remember, NEVER FLY OVER THE RIFLE RANGE!

  • Very Nice..Scale..Power and lights Thumbs up!!

  • Kool

  • Nice looking bird!

I still wonder why the model makers avoid making a scale version of the legendary Cessna 180/185 taildragger or the most commonplace 172/172XP or the strutless Cardinal/Cardinal RG. Nothing against the 182, but in the model world it's as if these others don't exist.

  • @321RCHeli Yeah, same here. I love the 180. My Dad had a real one for years, and the late 50's early 60's models had a nice bit of chrome on them as well. I would love to see some 180's.

  • Awesome plane. :)

  • I have to ask, will Nitroplaines carry this as a ready to fly or would I have to get a controller?

The lights are a nice add on.

    Great video.

  • @Crowinblack2001 i believe we will have it as receiver ready as well :)

  • @XHELIBIGT, Ok good because I think I will add this to my want list when my taxes come in. :-)

  • that lands very smooth

    gj

  • I like the flybys and the sound the aircraft makes as it

  • Great review again. I'm getting my 3th cessna now from the local sponsor. 1.6 meter wingspan. These planes are great beginnersplane. Greetings from Bengt

  • I love planes like this. Jets are great, but nothing beats the smooth flying of props.

  • battery voltage was 11.96 i actually ended up flying 7 min :)

  • Good report, thanx.

  • Great stuff dude. I was wondering why you guys never demonstrate the stalling of each aircraft. Every aircraft stalls differently and I feel it would be a feature most need to see how the aircraft flies.Lets face it we all stall sometime . Just wondering thanks guys.

  • @lewandlo i actually did that but i guess our video guys left it out i will make sure they leave it for next video
