I'm saving for this right now! What an awesome plane - functional LED lights & beacon, flaps that work. Wow!!! I can't wait - at $150 this is a real value man!!! I've been a 4 & 6-ch RC Heli pilot for 2-yrs. now, having just graduated to CCPM 6-ch flight, but seeing this Cessna really takes me back as I learned to fly in '74 in a 172 Cessna and then started renting 150's... Love it!
@crazylegs973 this plane is great for beginners like me hahah but im pretty sure you can turn them on in flight. Ill have to double check that for you.
This video was the reason I ordered this RTF. I watched a ton of videos and looked at a million different planes, but I kept coming back to this one. Can't wait to get it in.
Just ordered a red ARF, $118.19 delivered. Looking forward to doing tricks with this sleeper. Last 3 planes have been from NP, no problems at all, thanks for providing nice aircraft at affordable prices guys!
i just got this yesterday in red, took out taxied around and after getting the rudder trimmed out i took off and the thing pitched way up and stalled which i recovered from then did a stall and a wing dip and into the ground! i repaired today but im worried about the next flight!
how much deflection should i have on aileron and elevator? aileron seems too slight as does rudder! also on checking the CG should the plane balance about 1 inch begind leading edge?
questions. 1. Are the flaps better or worse for a beginner? 2. Because i have a mac i cant buy a flight simulator thats reasonably priced. Is it necessary to use a flight sim if i use a beginner plane like this? I have flown a little before. 3. How much space does this need to fly? I live near a golf course, so will that work?
@Dabears2323 I don't think the plane will support the weight of the GoPro, we do sell a dice cam that really light, check it out the item number is 86P-988-Dice-MiniCam
The battery hatch can trick you- you can put it on real tight, and it will still fly off unexpectedly. I suggest securing it with tape as a precaution
@Weezing818 if you're really anal about saving space, the wires can be folded, tied up, and stuffed in the back towards the stabilizer servos. the receiver can then be stuffed into one of the little compartments on either side
Just got this plane. Flies very well and has more than enough power. The plane is huge but requires ery littlre runway for take off. Dont let the size intimidate you. Its a great flyer capable of 3D acrobatics.
I bought this plane, the instructions are very vague, dont tell you 1 thing to do besides the obvious. When you start the engine...it will pick up and go in 10ft or less. Landing gear IS FIXED! The old wire they had for the landing gear is now 1/8 Inch SOLID steel!
We could all learn from you on your landings. Flyzone makes a cessna 182 that is similar to this one. However, I hope the front gear is more durable on this plane than Flyzone's.
@nitroplanes you can get at least a 2200, if not a 3300 mah 3S 11.1V, there's enough room in the battery compartment if you move the receiver and wires out of the way
Absolutely love this plane and this video. Pilot makes it look so easy as the plane flies perfectly and does nice little aerobatics. Makes me want it badly.
I agree... this dude should post up some tips and tricks videos on rc flight instruction.
WTF i mean WTF flaps on a stupid foam model i mean come on i have a 5ft Cessna 182 Skylane powered by 62 Four Stroke WITH NO FLAPS now try and land that Takes triple the amount to land than take off lol all high Torque servos as well lol
@DILightning scale reasons thats why there is flaps there should be flaps on every scale plane in my opinion. to atleast have you used to flaps for all planes
@johanbipbop nope and never fitted them comes in fast for a landing but takes that bit more skill to get it down cos if u cut the engine on a nitro theres no way u can take another attempt at landing :)
Electronics are bad always lose connection dont get it, mine came with the nose wheel set skrews stripped out so i couldnt tighten the skrews my front wheel was loose i didnt know it and when i came in for a landing the wheel turned and i crashed right into a car and lets just say hot glue isnt ganna fix that
Hi everyone. I've just but one of those and I have too questions. Does anyone know a good place in San Francisco to fly this plane? What's a good wind speed for this plane?
Hey Tony I would say this is as nice as my Art Tech 182 Cessna 500 class the only thing mine had was hard covers over the flap servos and my flags were connected to a device that you could control the flap speed and angle. Do you know if this plane could handle a 2400Mah 20C 3s battery? This is defaintly my next plane to buy. I perfer the high wings over all
At the beginning of April 2011 I ordered the Dynam Sky Surfer from the banana boys; that still hasn't been shipped (May) so I canceled the order last night and ordered a HorizonZone Super Cub from Amazon last night... then found out it didn't have a brushless motor and was onlyr 3 ch. Then I found the Airfield 55" 4ch Sky Trainer! 55" wingspan is bigger than the hz Super Cub and it's brushless AND beautiful. C'mon Nitro guys send it quick!
Actually, no. I take that back. It came with a small 2-3 cell balance charger with a wire to hook up to a car battery. I never used it. I just use my Thunder ac6 charger.
I HAD one of these. The build was pretty easy. The tail light connector would not mate up, so I left it hanging out till later. One of the main gear screws would not tighten into anything. Once together and taxing around, the motor stopped responding. All other controls were working, just not the motor. I had to unplug the battery and plug it back in. This happened about three time before my first flight. On the first flight, the plane pitched up on climb out with a slow barrel roll right.
I finally had a chance to fly mine due to the weather.I'm fairly new to flying so I was nervous about taking it up..it flew great and was pretty smooth. the flaps actually do make a big difference on landings . I did bring it down hard on the front wheel..no damage at all as far as assembly the only problem I had was with the back wheel screws not holding onto anything. other than that assembly was easy. wish there were more videos of this plane
@madhouse740 Yes there are two screws on top of the wings right above the fuselage.I Would recomend labeling and connecting the wires inside of the cockpit opposed toconnecting them in the belly of the plane. Thatll give u more room to take off the wings and transport them parallel with the body and you wont have to disconnect the wires. hope that works for you.
@IbnAir23 You're right. I also attach the wires inside the cockpit for the same reasons and it leaves more room in the battery compartment and less chance of the wires interfering with the mechanics and in addition, allows for better ventilation. I also moved the ESC forward, directly behind the lower intake of the cowl so it stays cooler. These little tricks and adjustments will keep your plane in the air longer.
I love your videos. But what would happen if you fly over the shooting rang? Would they blast you out the sky lol.
Keep up the good work. i see in the forum a question about the lights. Eric commented you did a build on this. Have you or is he just giving you more work?
Not happy at all with this airplane. Instructions were absolutly terrible. The support bar that runs through the wings prevented the wings from connecting flush together. There were no instructions on how to connect the servos so I pretty much had to figure that out on my own (not great for beginners). The biggest problem I found was that there were NO instructions on how to do the balancing of the airplane. So when I took it out to fly, it crashed immediatly and damaged lots of parts.
i picked mine up on Sat. at the wram show...first, i would like to say thanks to Tony, for selling it to me..it was nice to meet u after watching all ur videos..n also Antonino!! if was also my first show, but definitely not my last!! Second, when putting mine together, is there a special glue to use on the foam piece that u attach to the main wing?.....it is also where the landing gear bar attaches to!!! thanks again for all ur help..n with the purchase!!
ib422000 The people are called Asian. The food is oriental. It is very rude and incorrect to call a person oriental. Don't worry I didn't know until an Army buddy who had been to Korea explained this to me too. So, no worries...
But, this guy does NOT look Asian... So, I'm not sure where your "oriental" comment was based on...?
Of course you are right... they do use "NICE" excessively. LOL I had to laugh when I listened to it after reading your comment. Fly safe!
Hey, Tony! Do you know there are other words besides 'NICE' to describe something? You and that other oriental guy for Nitro planes say 'nice' about everything! Is it because you are not really thinking about what to say? Better to have someone write the script for you guys!
Ok I don't get it the asian Tony is from Nitro planes and the same guy is named Pette is on Banana hobby's and they both have the same planes?????? WTF
I like it a whole lot. I have the previous Skytrainer, which is nice, but I think I just have to have this one. I love the flaps, 3 bladed prop and the nice windows.
This would probably make a good scale FPV plane... Could mount the camera right behind the windshield with just a small hole cut for the lens to barely stick through...
you get what you pay for........nitro planes don't give a shit about their customers. Search for customer reviews on google and you'll see what i mean
I still wonder why the model makers avoid making a scale version of the legendary Cessna 180/185 taildragger or the most commonplace 172/172XP or the strutless Cardinal/Cardinal RG. Nothing against the 182, but in the model world it's as if these others don't exist.
@321RCHeli Yeah, same here. I love the 180. My Dad had a real one for years, and the late 50's early 60's models had a nice bit of chrome on them as well. I would love to see some 180's.
Great review again. I'm getting my 3th cessna now from the local sponsor. 1.6 meter wingspan. These planes are great beginnersplane. Greetings from Bengt
Great stuff dude. I was wondering why you guys never demonstrate the stalling of each aircraft. Every aircraft stalls differently and I feel it would be a feature most need to see how the aircraft flies.Lets face it we all stall sometime . Just wondering thanks guys.

I like it a whole lot. I have the previous Skytrainer, which is nice, but I think I just have to have this one. I love the flaps, 3 bladed prop and the nice windows.

Very nice plane. Details look very good, too. How much? Nice flying too, Tony!

don´t go to far, or the scale-pilot will throw up, and make a mess into that plane! lol.

Awesome! Please be sure offer an ARF version minus the TX/RX and battery.

I'd like to see a full size Cessna do this.

This would probably make a good scale FPV plane... Could mount the camera right behind the windshield with just a small hole cut for the lens to barely stick through...
just4playin1 1 year ago
So make sure you do nice scale landings and your good to go

you get what you pay for........nitro planes don't give a shit about their customers. Search for customer reviews on google and you'll see what i mean

Nice looking bird!
I still wonder why the model makers avoid making a scale version of the legendary Cessna 180/185 taildragger or the most commonplace 172/172XP or the strutless Cardinal/Cardinal RG. Nothing against the 182, but in the model world it's as if these others don't exist.
321RCHeli 1 year ago 2
@321RCHeli Yeah, same here. I love the 180. My Dad had a real one for years, and the late 50's early 60's models had a nice bit of chrome on them as well. I would love to see some 180's.

Awesome plane. :)

I have to ask, will Nitroplaines carry this as a ready to fly or would I have to get a controller?
The lights are a nice add on.
Great video.

Great review again. I'm getting my 3th cessna now from the local sponsor. 1.6 meter wingspan. These planes are great beginnersplane. Greetings from Bengt

I love planes like this. Jets are great, but nothing beats the smooth flying of props.

Great stuff dude. I was wondering why you guys never demonstrate the stalling of each aircraft. Every aircraft stalls differently and I feel it would be a feature most need to see how the aircraft flies.Lets face it we all stall sometime . Just wondering thanks guys.
lewandlo 1 year ago
@lewandlo i actually did that but i guess our video guys left it out i will make sure they leave it for next video
