I rather have Adam Malkovich in the next Smash Bros. than Ridley. And there are big chances that he will appear. Other M opened a new door of possible Metroid characters in a new Smash Bros. so either Adam or Anthony will be in Smash Bros. Wii U. Or both....

This probably the only time in the history of the Metroid series that Ridley has ever used any kind specific fighing skills against Samus Aran, most prior games had him relying on his firebreath, his tail, picking up Samus and breating fire on her.
Ridley isn't that hard in this battle. You can get him out of his invulnerability with a Super Missile, and his tail attacks are easily dodged. You just have to know. My first attempt, I was slaughtered. Second, nailed the bitch!

I think the reason that she didn't freeze up during prior encounters with Ridley was because after every defeat prior to Super Metroid Samus Aran knew Ridley was still alive but in Super Metroid Samus Aran truly killed Ridley and fought he was gone for good, so when when he she appeared in front of her in this game she was totally unexpecting it and fought that no matter what she would do she would never be rid of him and it was all enought to trigger her Post Trama Stress Disorder.

2. After being defeated in the original, the space pirates brought Ridley back in a metal body which he was then named Meta Ridley in metroid prime
3. Ridley didn't appear in metroid prime 2:echoes because he was getting his body repaired

@NorfairPrince It's because while she encountered Ridley many times, she didn't succeed in killing him until Super Metroid. When she saw he was dead, she was relieved. Seeing Ridley come out of nowhere in this game caused her to freak because she thought she'd never see him again. This is evidenced when she says "It can't be." She says that because it's completely impossible for him to be alive. I hope this clears things up :)

@NorfairPrince Because Samus is human and she can feel fear. Most players don't think she is and enjoy that unbreakable aspect of her. Here, we see a more vulnerable and narrative Samus who is capable of contemplation. I don't see why people despise that and equate it with "weak" and "sissy". I can understand certain points such as the seemingly random insertion of Samus' fear but Chozo genes didn't make her psychologically unbreakable, only genetically more capable of doing physical tasks.
@MATxVP Well one problem is the scene before this. I don't know the Metroid timeline, but I know she has seen and killed Ridley more than once before this. Yet here she has a nervous breakdown. That would have made sense the first time she saw him, but not now.

The story sucked hardcore, Sakamoto took all the information that was in the Metroid Manga and rather then make that game he put it out of place and screwed up the characters and events, such as why Samus really left the military and Adam's personality.
@LiveitRivet920 It absolutely is a good game I played it myself, and had a great time playing it. it gets the hate it gets because of the potrail of Samus (which I admit was bad) but gameplay wises and grapchise this is as close to an old school Metroid game as any of the Prime games. Gameplay wise I enjoyed Metroid Other M just as much as Metroid Prime 2 Echoes, Metroid Prime 3 Corruption and Metroid Prime Hunters, If it wasn't for Samus godawful potrail it wouldn't have so much hate at all.
Super Metroid is one of the best games of all time of course its better then Metroid Other M, infact its better then every other Metroid game to date. That being said this is still an extremely good game in its own right and a decent Metroid game.

@MrMetroid1998 well for one the games so easy it plays itself. i mean having the dodge move mapped to the d pad mean you'll be avoiding everything by accident. on top of that the auto targeting practically does all the work for you. in the end this game was a disappointing button masher.
metroid other m made a nice change with ridley...on hard mode he was actually one hell of a challenge, the only other time he was even moderatly difficult was on metroid prime on hypermode

Apparently, if the timeline is correct, the true Ridley OFFICIALLY died in "Super Metroid". This Ridley is just an oversized furby from hell, and the X version is just a cheap clone.

He's in Prime 3, but not 2. Nintendo did a good job making a timeline with this, although there's still some mistakes. It's pretty obvious that his ENTIRE body burned to nothing in Super Metroid, yet he apparently retain a carcass in Metroid Fusion... Unless it's WOODPECKER Ridley! Wait, Metroid Queen ate him...

@Zamy56478 I think the reason she was afraid of him was because she was so sure that she killed him on Zebes in Super Metroid so it was more so shock that he was alive than fear...But I could be wrong.
@ConcreteEskimo Looking back on the history of Samus kills vs. Ridley, she "killed" him in the original Metroid. He came back in Metroid Prime as the cybernetic Meta-Ridley, at which point she "killed" him again. He was repaired and returned in Metroid Prime 3, then upgraded to Omega Ridley, at which point she outright killed him permanently. His clone then returned in Super Metroid, which she also outright killed.
Showing shock at his return in Other M is horribly out of character for her now.

(She did, quite literally, KILL him twice over at this point, and beaten him many additional times.)

I'm calling shenanigans, Nintendo hasn't even offered an explanation for his return in Super Metroid. He was only there as a "bring back the enemies" kind of thing.
@Watermark0n There seems to only be 2 logical explanations of Ridley's return. Corruption suggests Ridley's alive, since his body doesn't completely disintegrate and, infact, he appears to be moving into the ground when the camera then focuses on Samus so it doesn't show him completely vaporizing. One theory is that the phazon restored his biological body before disappearing. The other is that Ridley is still Meta in Super Metroid.
@brianhennen2 I meant on Super Metroid. Obviously, Other M Ridley is a clone but Space Pirates lack the technology to regenerate him via cloning. They're not exactly as technologically capable as the Federation.

@MrMetroid1998 ya but apparently people hated it because it degraded samuses role, this game made her appear more of a child and a wimp unlike her other games were she is almost unbreakable.

@MrMetroid1998 Because the gameplay was good, expect for the first person shoot missle mechanics. The story sucked hardcore, Sakamoto took all the information that was in the Metroid Manga and rather then make that game he put it out of place and screwed up the characters and events, such as why Samus really left the military and Adam's personality.

@LiveitRivet920 It absolutely is a good game I played it myself, and had a great time playing it. it gets the hate it gets because of the potrail of Samus (which I admit was bad) but gameplay wises and grapchise this is as close to an old school Metroid game as any of the Prime games. Gameplay wise I enjoyed Metroid Other M just as much as Metroid Prime 2 Echoes, Metroid Prime 3 Corruption and Metroid Prime Hunters, If it wasn't for Samus godawful potrail it wouldn't have so much hate at all.

Super Metroid is one of the best games of all time of course its better then Metroid Other M, infact its better then every other Metroid game to date. That being said this is still an extremely good game in its own right and a decent Metroid game.

@Flintkarson Yes I have beaten Corruption on Hypermode, and Dark Samus was the hardest boss ever on the hypermode of that game, but I'm still stuck in the elevator area on hardmode in Metroid Other M.

@MrMetroid1998 well for one the games so easy it plays itself. i mean having the dodge move mapped to the d pad mean you'll be avoiding everything by accident. on top of that the auto targeting practically does all the work for you. in the end this game was a disappointing button masher.

metroid other m made a nice change with ridley...on hard mode he was actually one hell of a challenge, the only other time he was even moderatly difficult was on metroid prime on hypermode

@MrPivotjuggalo I think he gets cloned and every one of his cells has his whole memory on it, that way he always can come back as good as new (until they stop cloning him from his remains).

Apparently, if the timeline is correct, the true Ridley OFFICIALLY died in "Super Metroid". This Ridley is just an oversized furby from hell, and the X version is just a cheap clone.

He's in Prime 3, but not 2. Nintendo did a good job making a timeline with this, although there's still some mistakes. It's pretty obvious that his ENTIRE body burned to nothing in Super Metroid, yet he apparently retain a carcass in Metroid Fusion... Unless it's WOODPECKER Ridley! Wait, Metroid Queen ate him...
I wonder how many of those chickens they have...

Does this guy not realize that Ridley has impenatrable shileds that you need to use your super missiles on. It would have been alot easier instead of waiting for him to lower them.

@Zamy56478 I think the reason she was afraid of him was because she was so sure that she killed him on Zebes in Super Metroid so it was more so shock that he was alive than fear...But I could be wrong.

@ConcreteEskimo Looking back on the history of Samus kills vs. Ridley, she "killed" him in the original Metroid. He came back in Metroid Prime as the cybernetic Meta-Ridley, at which point she "killed" him again. He was repaired and returned in Metroid Prime 3, then upgraded to Omega Ridley, at which point she outright killed him permanently. His clone then returned in Super Metroid, which she also outright killed.
Showing shock at his return in Other M is horribly out of character for her now.

@JoeCallahan Yes, I do believe you're right. I was still in the middle of Other M and hadn't realized it was a clone. And I had gotten the Metroid timeline out of order. I should have done more research into this kind of stuff before I made an assumption. Sorry for my insolence.

I was actually just trying to spell out a history of all the times Samus has faced (and defeated) Ridley at this point in the timeline, so that anyone who read it would know the facts. Either way you slice it, having beaten Ridley so many times already, it doesn't make sense for her to suddenly be afraid at the mere sight of him. (She did, quite literally, KILL him twice over at this point, and beaten him many additional times.)

@JoeCallahan So.... space pirates need a living metroid and, even then, struggle with bastard clones (Mocktroids) before finally getting it right, yet we're supposed to believe they can revive Ridley with genetics like the Galactic Federation can? I'm calling shenanigans, Nintendo hasn't even offered an explanation for his return in Super Metroid. He was only there as a "bring back the enemies" kind of thing.

@Watermark0n There seems to only be 2 logical explanations of Ridley's return. Corruption suggests Ridley's alive, since his body doesn't completely disintegrate and, infact, he appears to be moving into the ground when the camera then focuses on Samus so it doesn't show him completely vaporizing. One theory is that the phazon restored his biological body before disappearing. The other is that Ridley is still Meta in Super Metroid.

@brianhennen2 I meant on Super Metroid. Obviously, Other M Ridley is a clone but Space Pirates lack the technology to regenerate him via cloning. They're not exactly as technologically capable as the Federation.
