It's big. The biggest one here. You know what else? It's got a lot of range. You know what I mean by range, don't you? I mean it can stay up for a long time. A very long time. And it's built firm and solid. Because it has to be because of it's tremendous forward thrust. And when this baby delivers its payload . . . devastating.
Captain Loomis Birkhead to Donna Stratton
You get me up in that plane, then we'll talk about forward thrust.
Yes, excuse your ignorant sidetrack. Don't like your local school board? How come you're not running for a spot on it then? Rather just gripe about it on Youtube I suppose.
The B-58 design isn't used today because it's hopelessly obsolete. It had a radar signature the size of Texas, and was really good at one thing - going really really fast. The reason old aeronautical technology like that isn't used is because newer technology is so much better.
Awesome bomber, a shame it became obsolete so soon...awesome video thanks dude..a lil history, something these kids know nothing about, with all of their nintendo, smartphones, ipads, ipods whatever they know nothing about history..thanks to our COMMUNIST Run public school halls of indoctrination..err, excuse my sidetrack..nice video.. fascinating..good day sir
This video doesn't violate anything. Don't worry about it. It's interesting to see old fort worth carswell in the 50's. Now it's all houses, trees, roads and stores. The base is a lot different.
Timeless piece of history. Thanks for posting. I actually think this airframe design could be used today, and still be very viable. We can only imagine!
You can sure tell this is an authentic 1950's era film. The announcer is a professional, reading a script in some studio with no idea, visually oF what he is describing. And, of course, the Dallas Symphony orchestra is continually playing somehting really upbeat in the background. And playing right up till "THE END".
Great video. Always thought the Hustler was a beautiful jet.

That beauty was obsolete because the transcontinental missiles: faster and cheaper but without personality. B-58 was so gorgeous!

160 knots takeoff speed!? That's insane!

Pretty typical for a delta winged aircraft, that and the high alpha (angle of attack) required for take off and land approaches.
