Depends on what you want...Right now. Im satisfied with FS9. But eventually I will transfer to FSX. Get both and see what you want.

if you're just interested in some quality aircraft and don't want to get bogged down, buy FSX and get any aircrafts you want.

Keep in mind, that developers are making the transition to FSX, but computers nowadays will run FS9 beautifully.
