This animation contains references to Nick Gibbons' other creations. The Mystery Machine is a reference to Nick Gibbons' cartoon short that's another parody of the same fictional vehicle. The words "3rd cousin" are also heard in Wierd-O-Torium at the part "Punch your 3rd cousin and get him for HALF PRICE!"

What the appeal of the original hilariously bad show that this is parodying was I will never know. I always hear the animation historians rhapsodysing about how it was the greatest piece of animation in history. It's just because it was the first Japanese animation to be dubbed in English! The only reason its remembered is because it's so easy to parody.

I saw this for the first time at Project A-Kon around 2000. Everyone loved it. I laughed so much tears were streaming down my face. Gave myself the hiccups too. Then I was trying to laugh and hiccup at the same time. It got painful. But I didnt care. I had a great time.

SNL started in 1975, which is quite far in the past for high-quality cartoons like this one you made, even though it has very few frames and was drawn in a simple way. TV Funhouse's Speed Racer parody is the one starring George Clooney.

Definately fits Speed Racer to a "t". I remeber eating up that show when I was in third grade, then I watched an episode in '97. I now realize how easy to please I was as a child; the dialogue was rancid, the voice acting rancider (not a word, I know, but it fits) the animation choppy, and half the characters looked like the shit the other half had eaten that made them look like they had eaten shit and would soon die.
