When will people learn the difference between, claymores, long sword, and broadswords come on people do some research I own a very nice hand made broadsword if another person calls it a claymore I will run them thru
i have a beautiful scottish great sword rosewood handle with thistle pommel but i cannot get the stubborn thing apart at all it is not flimsy or loose very strong to use for what it was intended for maybe you can give me some ideas
I have a Katana sword made in the 1300s.it 70 cm long.I bought this 15 years ago, gave 15000 dollars for it.the history of the sword.it was carried in the feudal dynasty.I also so have some sword made in the Roman ERA.one of them still has blood stain on it.and have 5 Roman shield with blood stain on it.now I'm looking for a King Arthur era sword and looking from the King Tuts ear.been looking for one of these sword for a long time no one can seem to come up with one.
I started collecting swords a few years ago, and before I knew good from bad quality, I bought this exact same blade off of Ebay. This YouTube channel stole the same description of the product off of the website, complete with the same typos and everything. Let me just say:
This thing is terrible. It isn't carbon steel, it's just terrible quality stainless. The handle is plastic, and the "wing" on the hilt broke right off. Stay away from this sword!
look up what is often called a "lowlander sword" online, that is what the real william wallace used, he used a lowlander style claymore, not the typical highlander model you know of and neither one looked like the sword here.. this is just a holywood abortion... not even full tang, cant even hit something with this sword without snapping the blade off.. how cheap
@megadeth22885 The idea of William Wallace using a six foot Lowlander is even more implausible than the idea of him using a five foot claymore, one of which is claimed to have belonged to Wallace himself. The lowlander is simply too large to have likely been made with the technologies and known swordmaking methods of the time. While large swords did get made, a six foot blade would simply take too much crafting to be made properly.
@Mandolinpossum umm, they made swords that large during and after the medieval period, they actually became more common in the late medieval, early renaissance... if wallace had a two handed sword, he would have had a lowlander claymore
@megadeth22885 They made large swords, yes, but they were difficult to make, and even more difficult to get a hold of. William Wallace was around in the 13th century, not anywhere near the early Renaissance.
@megadeth22885 Come to think of it, the Zweihander was around at that time (Slightly after Wallace, still), which closely resembles the "lowlander", but it's a German blade and I'm sure not many made their way into Scotland that early on.
@Mandolinpossum there were other large two handed swords prior to that period as well, but they were not common within the military since the sword and shield was the most common way to fight if using a sword.. the scottish did use two handed claymores in combat.. highland clans used them a lot since the late medieval period up until around 1700... 55" was the average length for the highland claymore though... lowlander claymores were longer
@megadeth22885 although lowland claymores were longer... 6 feet was still pretty rare... though they would have existed, probably for those with more ego as even today everyone wants to carry a bigger gun
it really scares me when they take the hilt off to reveal a tang that's so thin. Geez Wall hanger but I'd like to have a real working one hanging if I want one at all. But I do have to say it's a nice looking wall hanger
i bought this sword years ago from the noble collection, it is stainless steel and is for decoration. i wish i had known the difference between battle ready and wallhanger swords before i bought it. the biggest problem i have with it is that it is no where near the demensions of the real sword from the film. its better to save up and buy the real thing than have a bunch of cheap wall hangers.
the only problem with "flexiness" is it breaks down the structural integrity if it is too flexible. But you are right. its just a wall hanger. Perfect on the wall for decoration.
Also, If you want one that does both, Look into a coapany called cold steel. Pricier than this one (although a great price, IMO), but they look great on the wall as well as very functional.
the problem with this sword is that it is stainless steel which is why it felx so much and why it is so flimsy. Stainless steel works for smal to medium. And it looks like shit, the chrome makes to shiny to be considered a tool of war.
Also this is a fantasy sword which would probable send the blade flaying the second you try to cut something with (even if it is a small water bottle)
All in all, you should spend the extra money on a high carbon steel model, it<s alot safer and more rewarding
@Gilber5463 actually this particular sword is Germanic. Its called a Zweilhander. Notice how theres no blade immediately comming from the crossgaurd? The movie is inaccurate to a fault. In reality they would have used a claymore though.
@lilmanc14 actually this particular sword is germanic. Its called a Zweilhander. Notice how theres no blade immediately comming from the crossgaurd? The movie is inaccurate to a fault. In reality they would have used a claymore though.
A real sword is made out of High Carbon Steel, heat treated and tempered, and has the tang forged as part of the blade.. anyone who has a stainless steel sword, with a tang like that, should never use it as a sword, it is art for the wall. Also, The term "Full-tang" is for a sword with a tang forged with the blade, and fitted between two handle "Slabs".. It is full width of the handle..
@epicfantasy not to be a knowitall but a "WilliamWallace" sword as you put it is called a Claymore and he was famous mostly for lobbing heads wiht it. He is even able to lob more than 1 head with 1 slice.

i own this sword, it was the first one i ever bought, i did not realise it was a wall hanger at the time.( i was only 13) it has sentimental value to me but now i only buy a sword if i know its battle ready. the windlass version which i also own is really good and more acurate, the del tin is probably the best constructed however.
Pity its not like the real wallace sword. the real design looks much better! they had to use a smaller sword because mel gibson wasnt fit to lift a replica of the true wallace sword!
ya that sword duznt look to good....u prolly bought it for wut it was worth....any sword under 100 bucks isnt worth the money...and flexibility isnt that much of a good thing when it bends that much..and fail on the tip protector...if ur gunna mount it take that thing off
Also, if you hand worked a blade with good sword or tool steel, it wouldn't be flimsy like that. it would be solid. I also am a firm believer in that swords and weapons should never be wall-hangers. You only keep weapons that you use (for war, or for practice). Not denigrating you or anything. That's just the way I feel.
The term claymore is all over the place but usually refers to either a specific profile of late-medieval Scottish 2 handers (especially with the little honeycomb ornaments on the cross) or rennaissance basket hilts. I don't think I'd call this fairly conventional 2 hander a claymore. Either way, however played-out this design is, its still quite beautiful and functional. The leather over the ricasso is nice to handle.
I have a handmade sword bigger better and more beautiful than that of your

this is what you call a "rat tail tang" yes it is technically full tang, but if you try to use it it will SNAP! this is ONLY good for mounting on your wall.
True, that tang is the size of a noodle and would break under real usage. But if this sword is really made of stainless steel (most flexible stainless steel ive ever seen..) its not meant to be used anyway.
It's just wall hanger junk. Stainless steel swords suck... that shit will snap in two if you play too hard. European swords were never meant to be taken apart and cleaned. This notion is inspired by the Japanese sword community (were it is appropriate - but not needed often). It would be impossible to do that on a properly made Euro sword and seems totally pointless for this silly sword like object.
It does look good though a real sword would not be that flexible. Flexibility in a sword is not a bad thing though it should not bend under it's own weight. Not to mention that it has a rat-tail tang, which means the part which extends into the hilt is a small rod. There are plenty of videos showing rat-tail swords breaking by just swinging it at nothing. Since it is a bastard sword it shouldn't be that flexible. I guess that you definitly get what you pay for.
the fact that yuu can take off the hndle is proof that its not a proper sword.
proper swords are made out of carbon steel and do not flex as much as this and it would be stiffer because opf the force needed to swing the sword and take any impact from the force
yh this is a cheap wall hanger thats not good for much else
but also, its not even a two handed sword model.. thats called the "bastard sword" which is not two handed and not one handed either.. it has a handing and lenght between two-handed and one-handed, thats why its called as the bastard sword :)
I would suggest looking into Sword buyers guide... Everyone who wants a sword can check for the manufacturer and it's credibility as a good sword maker. I would suggest to everyone out there to avoid Stainless steel reproductions of all swords if you expect to be able to swing the sword around or even take it off the wall display. I used To be a rather ignorant sword enthusiast who wasted good money on bad swords. If you want a good sword for under $100, check out the musashi sword line.
man... this is not a sword. :) its ment to be hanging on the wall and left there on the wall. if you would try to do some sword-sparring you would see the difference between carbon steel forged blade and this stainless steel. but looks good bro. :)
A good Sword is supposed to be 'flexible'.. if it does not flex and bend-back and forth, then it will break and warp eventually- like an axe blade that is over used.
A quality sword will flex back and forth, and should always snap back to its Original position.
this is no quality sword. a threaded stick the size of a twig is welded on the "blade"...ur better off wrapping the blade in duct tape and just use that as the handle
Dud it is not could a William Wallice sword it is could a claymore. the reason that it might of bean could that in the store (or where ever you got it ) is because it is like the one he had in the movie. But that was William Wallices favrite weapon.
As the man says " This is not something you would USE!" I'm glad he was clear on that.
This is not a sword, but an ornament, meant for display only. There are better quality Wallace Claymores available ( Full tang, carbon steel, etc.) if you want something you can swing around a bit.
Another note to anyone wanting to get a sword "Stainless steel" is not used for real swords as it is too heavy and breaks as it is far too brittle. Also the rat tail tang when it breaks will cause the helicopter of death when it breaks if you ever try to use it. It is an ornament and that is all.
If you are thinking of getting a two hander get one made of high carbon steel with a full Tang (the part of the sword under the grip).
Rat tail tang. note: If any one gets this sword DO NOT SWING IT ROUND. A rat tail tang will break it is just a matter of time. If you want a sword to swing round and cut with make sure it has a full tang.
It is Like the man says "A Wall Hanger" for that is all it is.
First time I ever saw a sword droop like that when you pick it up though. The blade is way too thin. No large sword should bend when you pick it up. Christ, it must be like .125 or something like that in thisckness.
truth be told, this 'sword' is simply a piece of crap. The blade (although what you say about flex vs weight balance is true) of a two-handed sword absolutely should not flex so much, if any sword should flex so much it would be a chinese gim/tai chi sword. plus the rat tail tang, that would practically snap after a few swings. horrible horrible sword =/
I have to agree with VengeanceIV on the quality as well. If you pick it up, even though it flexes way too much, you can actually see a bend in the blade about 12 to 16 inches down from the handle.
Even at $50.00 it's no bargain. You got took on that one I'm afraid. It's just plain junk.
i just ordered this today after watching your vid hope it lives up to expectations, im somehow nervous about the rod, cause thats where my other sword broke.
Hi, I hope you enjoy it! I love mine. This is really a wall hanger though. Not meant to be used. I take it down, look at it, hand it to people, we swing it around a bit. heavy sword as far as swords go. But it does have a rat tail tang so not really good for striking. Great value for the price, lot of steel and nice leather.
The Ogre Catapult is very popular and I should make a video on how to build it. I have created plans for a better faster big catapult that can be built even faster. I am probably going to do a video on that. I may still do the ogre. I do have complete assembly instructions for the ogre on my website with lots of pics and a parts list. Just browse my website or google Ogre Catapult.
It's A nice Sword, BUT I wouldn't Buy it. It has a rattail tang, And there's a lot that can go wrong with a tang like that. But It's Again A nice Hanging wall sword.
Will! That is SO COOL!!!!:) Very nice sword. Is there a water mellon paper mashay or otherwise in this swords future? Outstanding vid as usual!!! Great job Man!!!:)

Its not the wallace sword, its the braveheart sword, it is a nice one.

FYI... If you want a real sword check out Albion, though it will cost you a hell of a lot more than 50 bucks.

It's just wall hanger junk. Stainless steel swords suck... that shit will snap in two if you play too hard. European swords were never meant to be taken apart and cleaned. This notion is inspired by the Japanese sword community (were it is appropriate - but not needed often). It would be impossible to do that on a properly made Euro sword and seems totally pointless for this silly sword like object.
jackoffman1 2 years ago
It does look good though a real sword would not be that flexible. Flexibility in a sword is not a bad thing though it should not bend under it's own weight. Not to mention that it has a rat-tail tang, which means the part which extends into the hilt is a small rod. There are plenty of videos showing rat-tail swords breaking by just swinging it at nothing. Since it is a bastard sword it shouldn't be that flexible. I guess that you definitly get what you pay for.
TheMightyMelv 2 years ago 3
the fact that yuu can take off the hndle is proof that its not a proper sword.
proper swords are made out of carbon steel and do not flex as much as this and it would be stiffer because opf the force needed to swing the sword and take any impact from the force
yh this is a cheap wall hanger thats not good for much else
eoran2 2 years ago
thats not a sword, just a model :)
but also, its not even a two handed sword model.. thats called the "bastard sword" which is not two handed and not one handed either.. it has a handing and lenght between two-handed and one-handed, thats why its called as the bastard sword :)
galdornenharme 2 years ago
so its a hand and a half sword...

If you want a good sword for under $100, check out the musashi sword line.
nolofinwex 2 years ago 2
man... this is not a sword. :) its ment to be hanging on the wall and left there on the wall. if you would try to do some sword-sparring you would see the difference between carbon steel forged blade and this stainless steel. but looks good bro. :)
drakoncuka 2 years ago
is that a grenade??
wills311 2 years ago
A good Sword is supposed to be 'flexible'.. if it does not flex and bend-back and forth, then it will break and warp eventually- like an axe blade that is over used.
A quality sword will flex back and forth, and should always snap back to its Original position.
jrhafelein 2 years ago
this is no quality sword. a threaded stick the size of a twig is welded on the "blade"...ur better off wrapping the blade in duct tape and just use that as the handle
THISNAMEOWNS 2 years ago
Holy shitfucks the tang on that thing...
Ah well, you can't expect much for $39. The bastard's going to leave it on the wall anyway.
halfassedfart 2 years ago
The real one was absolutely not flimsy.
Only reason this one is flimsy is because its cheap ss steel.
shadowblack1987 2 years ago
rat tail tang...do not swing or even lift off the wall... for $180?..u got ripped off bad...

holybastard23 2 years ago
Dud it is not could a William Wallice sword it is could a claymore. the reason that it might of bean could that in the store (or where ever you got it ) is because it is like the one he had in the movie. But that was William Wallices favrite weapon.
stuff485 2 years ago
Wallhanger, 'sword-like object'.
As the man says " This is not something you would USE!" I'm glad he was clear on that.
This is not a sword, but an ornament, meant for display only. There are better quality Wallace Claymores available ( Full tang, carbon steel, etc.) if you want something you can swing around a bit.
Jeeperrandy 2 years ago 3
Another note to anyone wanting to get a sword "Stainless steel" is not used for real swords as it is too heavy and breaks as it is far too brittle. Also the rat tail tang when it breaks will cause the helicopter of death when it breaks if you ever try to use it. It is an ornament and that is all.
If you are thinking of getting a two hander get one made of high carbon steel with a full Tang (the part of the sword under the grip).
stonehartfloydfan 2 years ago
Rat tail tang. note: If any one gets this sword DO NOT SWING IT ROUND. A rat tail tang will break it is just a matter of time. If you want a sword to swing round and cut with make sure it has a full tang.
It is Like the man says "A Wall Hanger" for that is all it is.
stonehartfloydfan 2 years ago
this is bs
1 never get a sword thats under 150$
2 omg i could snp that on like have a tatami mat
HELLZONE7745 2 years ago 3
buy stuff from cold steel, its cheap, but you cant find better any were else, all full contact blades.
TumFlumBlackMetal 2 years ago
There are plenty of good, usable swords for under $150.
hellostupidfucker 2 years ago
First time I ever saw a sword droop like that when you pick it up though. The blade is way too thin. No large sword should bend when you pick it up. Christ, it must be like .125 or something like that in thisckness.
MrToober777 2 years ago
that a claymore it is like the when they use in deadliest warrior
princeofdarkkness 2 years ago
Did they cancel deadliest warrior?
Spanvro 2 years ago
no the first season is finish right i think they might make season 2 so yea i wish it not cancel i love that show it sick
princeofdarkkness 2 years ago
truth be told, this 'sword' is simply a piece of crap. The blade (although what you say about flex vs weight balance is true) of a two-handed sword absolutely should not flex so much, if any sword should flex so much it would be a chinese gim/tai chi sword. plus the rat tail tang, that would practically snap after a few swings. horrible horrible sword =/
VengeanceIV 2 years ago
I have to agree with VengeanceIV on the quality as well. If you pick it up, even though it flexes way too much, you can actually see a bend in the blade about 12 to 16 inches down from the handle.
Even at $50.00 it's no bargain. You got took on that one I'm afraid. It's just plain junk.
MrToober777 2 years ago
the blade is al bent :s
socvees 2 years ago
i just ordered this today after watching your vid hope it lives up to expectations, im somehow nervous about the rod, cause thats where my other sword broke.
is it sharp at least?
madbullowns 2 years ago
i mean i dont plan to use it for like battle lol, but something that could actually perform a sword's function of inflicting damage would be nice.
madbullowns 2 years ago
Mine is sharpened but not combat sharpened. It has a sharpened edge but not honed.
epicfantasy 2 years ago
Hi, I hope you enjoy it! I love mine. This is really a wall hanger though. Not meant to be used. I take it down, look at it, hand it to people, we swing it around a bit. heavy sword as far as swords go. But it does have a rat tail tang so not really good for striking. Great value for the price, lot of steel and nice leather.

tht shouldnt bend

So what kind of sword is it?
Without a scale it looks like a longsword, but with your hand it looks smaller, I myself have 2 Katanas, ones a steel Katana the others a Dai-Katana.

Claymore

hey u think u can post a video on how to build a Orega catapult the 2 feet one thanks keep up the good work
coolman6415 2 years ago
The Ogre Catapult is very popular and I should make a video on how to build it. I have created plans for a better faster big catapult that can be built even faster. I am probably going to do a video on that. I may still do the ogre. I do have complete assembly instructions for the ogre on my website with lots of pics and a parts list. Just browse my website or google Ogre Catapult.

It's A nice Sword, BUT I wouldn't Buy it. It has a rattail tang, And there's a lot that can go wrong with a tang like that. But It's Again A nice Hanging wall sword.
