Try the lift by beginning your feet an inch or two closer together on each side. You can explode much better when your legs are as wide as your hip flexors instead of wider than them. You're strong like a beast bro! If you worked on some other minor improvements (complete extension in the lower extremeties and wrist flexibility so you can get into a better rack position) I bet you could lift that weight and then some no problem!! Good stuff bro!
It hits multiple muscle groups, quads/hams, upper and lower back, traps, delts, forearms and bis. It is used mainly for explosiveness though, and a lot of performing it correctly is mastering the form.
@ASUKevinNee Firstly I must say it is awe inspiring to see someone move such massive weights so easily. I hope I am not out of place in giving you some advice. Almost NO athletic person is too inflexible to rack. It is almost always caused by a misunderstanding of technique. Remember that you should release your grip and just "finger tip" the bar while is rests on your delts. The correct width is important to allow elbows to get high. The width can vary greatly per individual, experiment.
I would LOVE to see what you'd be capable of if you developed even a half-decent rack position. you manhandle the weight and pop it up so high that it's really a shame that you're basically limiting the ultimate weight you can use (and thus by extension the potential training effect) by having such an awkward and dangerous rack. Your strength and power is just so off the charts that I really wonder what your true potential is on the Olympic lifts! (yes, I know they're not a priority for you!)
@wadedesarmo See how when he gets the bar up his arms are perpendicular to the ground and the bar is basically resting on his hands and wrists? A proper rack position (if you develop the flexibility to do it) is a MUCH safer way to receive the barbell. The elbows point close to straight ahead, the hands just grip the bar loosely, and it sits across the shoulders, in a very stable position. "Racking" the bar like in this video can be really hard on the wrists. Youtube "Olympic weightlifting"
