  • what is that language.I think it is Russian but I hear some latin base word like Dem-o-tra-ta and malo

  • Polish or Slovak.

  • It's Slovenian if you're still interested:)

  • This looks pretty impressive. I really like the athletic part of the fighting. Do you have more videos or a website of this?

  • Just to make the things clear. What you can see first, is a sportitive combat sport. It's movements are designed for elegance, distance, safety and speed, not power. Canne de combat is not designed for fight on the streets (there is one part of it, canne défense, that is about self defense, but it's a small part), but to fight using some kind of rules, to beat the opponet (and not enemy) with points. It's rapid, elegant, sportitive, athletic, and so. But not street fighting.

  • Good to point that out. The defense aspect is taught alot actually in France and even a bit in the the U.S. if you look for that. I enjoy both aspects, cenne de combat is fun and pretty and defense is a nasty and effective system with historical roots of my people.

  • sz332 Im probably taking you down memory lane replying to you after you posted so long.

But lets face it most of the Traditional martial arts cant cut it on the streets. Certainly not without substantial modification.

  • That is simply true :)

  • Its martial roots are plain to see, keep up the good work I say.

  • I do historical fencing and this is strnage.

  • historical? *snort* like what.. that lame renaissance faire drivel?

i practice savate and spanish rapier fencing. i find this stick fighting to be very appealing and NOT strange in the least.

  • We do all basic european fencing schools. German, Italian, Spanish and French. I am quite sure that our more experienced members could easily defeat these people coz they have lots of openings, loads of unncessaty moves and short weapons:)

  • very true!

  • Cane de Combat is a game. Le cane is the Martial Art.

  • So who would win, a Tennis Player, a Squash Player or a Badminton Player? Bearing in mind that they all use rackets in their sport. Or am I not comparing like with like? Just as you aren't!

  • urnign their backs is doable since it is not allowed to hit the back, sine they sue it it must be usefull

  • Right, turning their backs - fancy...

  • Canne de combat is not supposed to be a martial art, more a martial sport (according to its ruling board, though many practicioners want to "martialize" it). I think it is simply awesome, europaen kung fu (with sticks!), and the agility and sense if tempo and distance of the practitioners leaves me in awe.

  • I practiced kali and canne de combat is for my opinion more sofisticated and efficient method....but of course this is only my point of view.

  • Did I just see them turn their backs to their opponent during that first bout!?

  • fancy moves, entertaining for sure !
