@Fnordicus Yup, I see what you mean. Basically, I wanted viewers to follow our journey inwards, understanding that it began with the microscope, but that it's not ONLY the result of the microscope.
Your videos make me cry. The music, the editing, the information, it's all just so well put together that it's just overwhelming. You are very talented, keep doing what you do!
If there was a prize for great youtube videos you'll be #one. thanks for sharing such a great video and the reflection of your inner self, what a great human you are!!!
I just wanna take this moment to thank YOUTUBE for such a great job!!!
Oh, that's Keith Jarrett himself. He's one of my favourite musicians ever, but he had a tendency to vocalise along with his playing, a bit like Glenn Gould and Thelonius Monk. It's mostly inconspicuous, but I have some recordings of him where he simply won't shut up!
Hi Kripptic2. Thanks for the comment, and you obviously read my message, which I appreciate too! I have read about the shifting baseline. The mistake I think you are making though, is to think that because it is possible to find isolated examples of decreasing beauty, that means that the entire planet is decreasing in beauty. Earth is a complex dynamic system, where things are constantly in flux, so we can find cases of decreasing beauty and cases of increasing beauty.
The sources of the images are listed in the sidebar, but getting them in HD has meant either ripping DVDs into mp4 or downloading the footage from the internet. I'm a bit obsessed with making sure everything is as HD as possible.
Yes, and if I were officially asked to take it down for that reason, then I would of course immediately comply. For now however, I hope people can get some enjoyment from it.
Yeah, and what I really wanted to show was that is becomes more beautiful the closer we look. The typical examples of beauty (sunsets, mountains, flowers etc.) pale in comparison with a swirling galaxy.
The further away you go, the more similar the grand things seem to the small things.

Love your videos, but why are you attributing protein folding animations etc. to the microscope...? A bit misleading.
