my girlfriend and I saw Rhett on PBS tonight.. his acoustic stuff reminds me of the Crows...and then because we had seen Taking Back Sunday recently because my 13 year old daughter loves them and I do too.. he's a mix of the two...love his lyrics and this band fuckin' rocks!
The lack of "Teeth of the Hydra" upon you used to bug me until I realized it wasn't his lyric - which is why he took it out for a record that might be heard more than when it was just a 97's B-side.
That's a stupid argument. Do you really think Rhett Miller sits around trying to figure out if he's better without the 97's? I'm tired of reading dumbass arguments like this on every damned video on youtube.
I love the way he sings. Im a guy, but like Morrisey... this guy conquers a lot of male hearts.. like mine. This song makes me so emotional.. i could sing that to the girl i love now, if i had that voice of course.

Don't get me wrong, Rhett is great and all, but this doesn't do justice to him with the Old 97's! Their version is SOOO much better! I LOVE Rhett and all....but the Old 97's are only the GREATEST!
The guy has a gift for catchy pop gems. So many Old 97s have such witty lyrics. Rhett's a talent.

Rhett Miller came to my school today!! He did a solo acoustic concert for us. (It helps that this is alumni weekend and he graduated from my school).
