  • great finale to a great album

  • god is a word...and the argument ends there.

  • His style isn't my "cup o' tea" but it holds a good message. Of course, it'd be good to put all delusions away such as god or gods, the devil, our political system working, some people have other delusions such as seeing/hearing people that aren't there. All these delusions should result in immediate psychological review.

  • This fucking tune's killing me.

  • Bill Callahan understands that good songs are not meant to end after three or four minutes.

  • this album is stellar

  • it's rude to talk about religion, you never know who you're going to offend!

  • @cheesecakecia The religist don't care about who they offened, so I say 'fuck them.'

  • beautiful and thoughful

  • Can we make this site free of religious comments??...keeps your gods and beliefs away from here when visiting songs like this...

  • this is comforting.

  • To quote the man himself about this song: "Faith/Void came from the way sometimes people ask you, "Are you spiritual?" and you just kind of mumble an answer. And I started to realise that I had to answer this question properly for myself. It was like I'd been holding this rope, and putting it down on the floor and edging away. So I picked up that rope here. I resolved that question."

  • @addressunknown123 no clue. I thought your comment was spot on.

  • quite blunt with the refrain, Its time to put God away, but its delivery is non-confrontational and self-assured, as if youre easing listeners into being OK with the idea of letting go of religion.

  • @addressunknown123

wouldn't say not so much of letting go of religion, but accepting responsibility, and stop weighing it all on God. . So I think you are right, but more precisely its time to accept ownership of our actions and not hide behind God.I prefer democracy over autocracy for this reason. If something goes wrong in society we have only ourselves to blame and not a single ruler for life.

  • 2009 best

  • all I can say is enjoy this music and disregard the ramblins of this recluse idiot.

  • Wow. How people manage to rage on a Bill Callahan video page, is beyond me?

People are crazy. And this song is crazy beautiful.

  • I agree. I lament that I got caught up in what was immaterial.

  • @neglej - You said it. This is a wonderful song.

  • @neglej Add one part God, one part athiesm, and two parts unwarranted over-defensiveness and intolerance for other viewpoints. Shake well. Serve.

  • @mseales Touche! Well said!

  • Very beautiful song by a great artist btw debate your strange thoughts on a different place pls

  • well get the fuck the out then. Who needs you!

  • dodgedavis messaged me and called me a "stinkin nigga"...that's pretty funny! Hey why don't you post those comments here, so all of your christian pals can see what a hypocrite you really are!

  • Uh you're a godamned idiot and I don't know what the fuch you're talking about DUMBASS! And I ain't a Fuckin Christian! But you are right about one thing Christians are hypocrites just like every other religious entity!

  • Wow, now I am repeating myself. Gues I am getting old.

  • You have mistaken me for someone else Buffoon! What are you some follower of Limbaugh or O'Reilly, spreading lies and discontent and demogaugery?

  • I first heard this song while driving from Grass Valley to Rocklin on Dog Bar Road on a Friday afternoon in August or Sept of 2009. What a great experience it was, thanks to the Avant Garage on KVMR!

  • there is no such thing as blasphemy

  • God is a superstition.

  • @TheDensley7

    You are correct my friend.

    All religions stand down.

    No more wars for differences.

  • so is faith/void the name of the band? I'm trying to find the band faith/void cause my friend recomended them to me. What's bill callahan?

  • I'd bet you figured it out already, but Bill Callahan is the name of the band. I reckon he used to do solo work and eventually got a band behind him.

  • yeah... I figured it out. Was looking for a band called "faith/void" my friend didn't recomend them, just said that out of convenience. I heard about them cause it was a band that Thurston Moore really liked from an old interview I read with him from like '89.

Knowing Thurston's tastes though, I'm assuming it's a run of 50 records and is nearly impossible to find... internet or no internet. (and that's what bugs me about Thurston, like c'mon man... really? they're THAT unknown?)

  • K.... update: Faith/Void was a dual band CD consisting of two bands, The Faith & Void. It's terrible music, but I finally found what ol thurston was talking about. Of course it's gonna be awful.

Bill Callahan is great though.... reminds me of Bonnie Prince Billy a little.... y'know, kinda boring but still good.

  • @freezazoid the faith / void split is piece of hardcore history. legendary music :P i bet this title is an hommage.

  • This song "Faith/ Void" is extracted from Bill Callahan's solo album "Sometimes I wish we were an eagle". Bill Callahan is also the singer and composer of the band Smog.

  • Love it.

  • Really nice song to relax to on a sunday evening.

  • great song. Thanks!

  • It was on a cool Friday afternoon, driving over Bear River.

  • Wow...cool! What a moron.

  • Heard this on KVMR Grass Valley public radio while driving the van for Sierra College and bought the CD! Great experience!

  • Hmmmmm...
