Wendy's Flying Fish Drawings in Rule of Rose

find the - (most likely true) - theories about hoffman and clara - it's really upsetting to read though especially if you're female so brace yourself....

Hey wait, I JUST thought of something! If you watch the very beginning cutscene before you even get to the load screne, there's a flying whale (or a 'flying fish') looking thing at the end of the cutscene! Is that related to the drawing? Or is it how Jinnifer saw the airship becuase it was huge and flew in the air? Or what is that suppose to mean? PLEASE ANSWER ME!!!

It is a fish, Hoffman's koi. The seemingly giant size is because there is a little model building resembling the orphanage inside of Hoffman's aquarium. No doubt Jennifer and Wendy spent time looking at the koi swim in the aquarium and imagining it as a giant fish-shaped airship flying above the orphanage.

There is also a koi drawing on the filth room wall in the Sir Peter Chapter. Another of Wendy's, perhaps?

It's hard for me to know what to make of drawings, or other things, that appear on the airship but aren't seen in the orphanage, and we never see any drawings on the walls of the filth room in the orphanage. Perhaps it is best to think of these drawings as just something that Jennifer's dreaming mind is doing?

But that koi drawing does seem similar to Wendy's other koi drawings as opposed to those other drawings in the airship filth room which look like drawings by Thomas.

Hahaha, this 'If it tells you to go one way, go the other' tactic is my philosophy for all games! Normally, I just run into invisible walls or whatever, maybe an extra item. Imagine how thrilled I was when I discovered that, time and time again, RoR rewarded my explorations!

The aquarium in which Mr. Hoffman's koi (carp) swam had a tiny model in it of a mansion that looked like the orphanage mansion. So it would have been natural for the orphans to watch and imagine a scene like the one you refer to, in which the koi in the aquarium was a giant fish-like airship flying above the orphanage. Notice the mansion in the scene with the giant koi resembles the aquarium mansion more than the orphanage mansion (no surrounding walls or trees, for example).

It's common theory on PNs blog that the fish represents togetherness, friendship, love(not necessarily in the romantic sense), that sort of thing. The koi/carp (can't recall which) generally symbolizes that in Japanese culture, and this is, after all, a Japanese game.

For your YouTube videos, you should definitely TURN UP THE BRIGHTNESS SETTINGS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE in game, as YouTube likes to do this stupid thing where even though in reality it's decently bright, it's nearly impossible to see anything.

There isn't any brightness option for the game, only "Contrast" and "Noir Filter". Max clarity comes with maximizing the "Contrast" and minimizing the "Noir Filter" so I do that (and it seems to give max brightness as well).

I can brighten things more with software however.

Well usually I just group together contrast with brightness, so that's what I meant. Apologies to you, mate.

It's good to get feedback that somebody is unhappy with the darkness of the videos. It is, after all, something I can adjust with the software. You may not see the difference right away as I have recorded some footage in advance for future videos and may not choose to record new footage for those.
