  • science is so lame. if we knew 'why' it wouldn't matter either way. it's a like a kid asking 'why why why '. they never get an answer. get over it. who cares?????????

  • @plhglh1 And so what if it is a chemical imbalance? It doesn't cause any real problem. Homosexuality is only an issue when people choose to make it an issue. Other than that homosexuals can live healthy successful lives and happy lives.

  • Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Psalm 51:5

  • Its fascinating. Could be true. I hope they find out soon, so everyone can move towards accepting homosexuals as nature's way of balance or just naturally created diversity in species. :-) It is also proven we are NOT the only species this happens to. Wish the majority of the world were open minded.

  • National geographic cannot be trusted. Not so long ago they where advertising their wicked ideas of the possibility to inhabitant mars, and use global warming, which is thus far not been proven to even exist, to make the circumstances there similar to earth.

As for this video, it's based on pretty much the same foundation: theories. Unconfirmed assumptions- not actual proof, but fiction.

  • ratings disabled? Why?

  • I really found this fascinating, to bad I dont have the channel though :( I also found it interesting that Jesus has the more masculine features of the two, pause around 6:20 and you can see that his jaw is more defined as well as his eyebrows, while the other has more prominent cheek bones, which would explain the theory of Jesus receiving more testosterone in the womb. Of course this is just my opinion.

  • @CJBVStudios2, every disease and disorder is "natural" with environmental influences in some cases. There could be videos on all kinds of disorders to show a biological basis for their existence, but that still doesn't change the fact that these diseases and disorders are unhealthy and abnormal.

  • wow

  • Does it really matter some people are gay and that is that....

  • this is stupid, there enviroments where the same??? haha , it just said one done sport and one done dance, clearly the one doing dance was surrounded by girls in the development of the sexuality , ofcourse he is ganna be gay , , this has all been proven as wrong

  • So what seems more realistic? What these scientists who have studied for years say, or what a very old book written by an unknown author barely says? Even though homosexuality would still be fine if it were a choice, this is still a good video that might educate a few ignorant people.

  • @plhglh1 On how to fix what? Homosexuality?

  • Comment removed

  • and people thought being gay was unnatural.

  • @CJBVStudios2, every disease and disorder is "natural" with environmental influences in some cases. There could be videos on all kinds of disorders to show a biological basis for their existence, but that still doesn't change the fact that these diseases and disorders are unhealthy and abnormal.

  • this is probably right.

  • Some homophobe will just say this is a gay agenda on Nat Geo's part. Bitter denial.

  • There's a lot in this video that is presented as fact, when in truth it is highly debatable in the field of sexual research. Here's another take on human sexual orientation development - a website - humansexualevolution

  • im not sure you can completely disregard nurture just because they were raised in the same household. kids in the same household can have very different experiences...

  • well this answered some of my questions...but it begs another...

...if the "gay" fetus isn't masculinized, then why is he not asexual INSTEAD of gay?

  • @WolfSyndrome --because the default gender is female, without testosterone in the brain, the brain stays female. The testosterone does flood the rest of the body to masculinize it.

  • my absolute favorite part about this upload is how dianegosh uses the word "disorder", then only uses "homosexuality" as an example. haha, lol... that's so true.

  • @VirtualBilly

Uhh........where do I use the word disorder?? This video was one hour long. Homosexuality was only one of the genetic differences shown between identical twins

  • Thanks! =] I love this video, I can use this to argue my speech. YAY!

  • so how bout lesbians???

  • @yellownians4u

What do you mean what about lesbians? They are homosexuals.

  • @codarkstarxx13 there haven't been many studies about female homosexuality, but it can be noted that studies show that women's sexuality and men's differ in how they work, females have a slightly more mailable sexuality (more likely to experiment and admire other females) though true lesbians, as one would expect, are much rarer than gays, at 2 to >1% of the female population, with gay males, as the video said, around 4% of the male population

  • What about bisexuals? What about lesbians? Men and women have different brains... Also, what about those who naturally changed their preference - due to influence/environment/ experiences? I don't believe you have to be either gay or straight. I think it's obvious that most of us are a little bisexual. However, the environment we grew up in shapes our approach towards sex. What about straight men who have gay sex in prison? Or people who are gay for pay? Some people are more sexually curious.

  • well, prison gay and gay for pay dont count, because the person is not really attracted. in gay for pay, they just want the money they get from it, and in prison, theyre just really horny.

  • the twins are hot

  • But how would women become lesbian?

  • horrible pictures but interesting theory

  • this goes to prove my point that everything starts in the mother's womb...thank u National Geographic for proving my point...this all has to do with science/biology...I just wish people would REALIZE THAT

  • Did anyone else raise an eyebrow at 6:10-6:20?

  • @Heyaitsjohn Yep. I was playing freecell while watching & flinched when I heard that - disease... come on!

  • Lmfao i know what you mean, im sure the narrator wasnt referring to homosexuality as a disease. He was probably meaning disease as in sickle cell in one twin or something along those lines.

  • @Heyaitsjohn no.

  • what the person meant was that the switches are also the same reason people get sick (sick like a cold or a virus) while others dont.

  • I would like to remind people that even though it is often referred to as a law, even the Theory of Gravitation is still as such a theory. It has many tests that testify its existence, but it is still a theory.

  • Gravity is a law and a theory. Theories don't become laws. Theories and laws describe different things.

  • remind me of the Skins T.V show, emily and katie are identical twins one is completely gay when the other only cares about boys

  • Unless your gay I think it would be difficult to have an opinion. As a gay man I dont know why I am gay but know that it is something I did not choose. It is exactly the same as finding women attractive if your straight. You just do. I also knew as a pre teen and definitely knew as a teen. It was very difficult to be gay at that age.

  • @CalibSotella: I completely agree with you. It is difficult to be gay at a young age. The difference for me now, though, is I'm older now and don't give a shit what people think. :) I also totally agree that it is a choice: Who the hell would choose persecution and all the hell gay people go through?

  • How is heterosexuality made?

  • were you not watching the video?

  • This video proves nothing; It is full of \theories and speculations.

    "Some scientist believe..."

    "If this theory is correct..."

    "Many mysteries remain..."

    If..

    It may be..

    maybe the answer...

  • Amen, gilbertd2174! I have just been writing these exact words down to say that this all is just speculations... :D

  • Thats how finding out information works, my man.

  • this makes the most sense out of any of the theories.

  • INTERESTING

  • YEP

  • there are also alternative explinations,...say that one twin is born with a less masculinized brain,....if you are seen as different in some way, based on assumed traits associated with homosexuality, then there will be an increase likelihood you will develop these attractions, because we will feel isolated from other same sex peers and role models and develop attractions based on this, we often desire that which we feel is most unlike ourselves which is defined social views on gender roles.

  • this is very tenuous, phrasings like "may" or "we believe" means they are essentually guessing, and that we should not conclude based on the current level of understanding that epigenetics are even playing any role here, as this has not yet been empierically tested as it relates to sexual orientation. in other words, untill they actually prove a determinative genetic component, there isnt one...many animals can be forced to orientate to the same sex...there is no gentic component in these.

  • technically, this video explains that epigenetics is actually not genetics in the common definition. Instead, epigenetics focuses on "proteins" present in our cells which turn genes on or off. The suppression or initiation of genes is a new area of biology which appears to be somewhat "random" in regards to what these proteins decide to do. Please watch the segment which explains these proteins. I believe you have misunderstood.

  • @dianegosh

unless they can prove that epigenetics is actually determining ones sexual attractions it isnt,...or more actuately the hypothisis is true "or" false, they can only prove that there are genetic commonalities among some gay men, they cannot prove that all gay men have these commonalities or what they mean as far as how sexual orientation works and develops,..these common traits may be general traits associated with certain brain functions which may indirectly affect sexuality.

  • @dianegosh

and its my understanding that epigenetics are not nessicarily determinative in regards to other behaviors, meaning they can be overcome,..the "hand walkers" for instance were able to learn to walk normally with therapy, so while epigenetics might have played a role in why they walked on all fours,...self determination was able to override the impulse...pretty much proving that epigenetics are not likely to prevent someone from deciding to not follow thier predisposition by choice.

  • I don't follow this at all.

  • @dianegosh there was a nova special called the "the family that walks on all fours" explores the relationship between epigenetic and congenital cerebellar ataxia,...that with certain development circumstances caused these children to grow up with the inability to walk upright, they walked on all fours, with their hands flat on the ground and their feet on the ground, as opposed to on their hand and knees, ...they were later able train themselves to walk upright.

  • Interesting. I'll have to look this up. Thanks.

  • Arguing that someone's predisposed genetic makeup can or should be overcome to please you is shameful to say the least! Homosexual is an intrinsic part of all species including us homosapiens and our next nearest evolutionary cousin homoneanderthalis who were more intelligent than our species. Homosexuality hurts no one and is neither right nor wrong but is completely natural!

  • Internet high-five - place hand here.

  • there are few problems with the statements made in this video,...no one is denying that there is a genetic component to our sexuality,...the question is weather or not that component is determinative or weather development must play a role., genetic differences in twins exist but there can be made no assumption that these are determinative, they may only be casual,...there is no proof that more famine brains control who we will find sexually attractive,...that is an unproven hypothesis,

  • Nah its not true someone can be born gay its rather they want to

  • Find a single person who decided to be gay out of choice, instead of going through a long denial/struggle and eventual acceptance, and I think more might believe what your selling. Heck, huge numbers of them contemplate suiside because of it (cause death would be better at that moment).

And refuting your oppinion doesn't take science. Just some basic honesty with an obvious truth.

  • @RoseIndy i actually know a gay man who did choose to be gay,...he grew up fairly normally with normal attractions to females and no "aparent" attractions to males then at some point in his early adult life he choose to have sex with another man, decided he liked it enough to do it again...and he then continued to do it...while one could argue he was always gay,..but that is an assumption, he doesnt think he was, why should we?

however i gather he is an exception...most dont seem to choose.

  • According to you, he had attractions to women and later developed attractions to men. This says he is bisexual.

Choosing to ignore a part of our sexuality does not remove it.

  • well, thats how most gay people actually find out that theyre gay, or the guy you knew was just bi

  • That's stupid. One could argue that you're not born straight either. That would make you and the rest of us bisexual.

  • @meast1000

lol i didn't know u could choose to be born gay

  • selso is cuter than the straight guy. I know its off topic but had to say ittt.

    anywho though, very interesting video!

  • When do heterosexuals "choose" to be heterosexual?

..........Then the same must apply for homosexuals right? Or is there two sets of logic?

  • Is this study pretty much Conclusive? Why is this not brought to the attention to the public?

  • The science of epigenetics is very new and the average lay-person would not come across these findings unless they looked for it. It's so new, that scientists are finding out just how much MORE complex our DNA actually is.The turning off and on of certain genes so randomly by these unique proteins just means that randomness is STILL planned in our bodies which just supports the variations needed for natural selection's success. I should upload my other video on other differences in twins.

  • Thank you so much for the information and please I need further education on this topic. Thank you.

  • Please upload it! And any other videos you have! I subscribed! lol

  • I very much believe this is all quite conclusive, but they keep learning additional details every year (the brain and development is still much of an unknown). Mentioning science like this to the masses though (much like the discovery of really old tree rings), will probably just be written off as anti-Christain, anti-American, anti-Family smut to just about everyone who doesn't know it already.

  • That was from a peer reviewed article I found while researching this topic. Just thought it was a very interesting concept...though to be fair it is a bit dated (written in 1991)

  • ''What is possible is that evolutionary pressures could lead to the selection of genes that cause individual members of a species to have certain mental mechanisms relevant to sexual interaction. During the course of an individual's development, these mechanisms interact with the environment to produce certain sexual preferences, which in turn lead to certain types of behavior."

  • Very interesting and so true. I'm currently covering evolution topics right now with my students. Everything comes back to evolution and natural selection. THanks for posting.

  • No problem! I am trying to get into education my self. Hoping to be a history teacher.

  • I don't understand why people would want to clarify homosexuality with science. Who gives a shit? Gay people know they can't be anything but gay, but there's a bunch of straight people who just want to satisfy their curiosity. Discovering a reason behind homosexuality only substantiates a 'cure' for it. If they can change the gender of your child, it won't be long till they can change the sexuality. I don't understand why straight people are trying to get all up in our business.

  • Well, first of all, I am an educator. EVERYONE can benefit from learning regardless of the topic. For many, including myself, I couldn't care less who is or isn't gay, straight, lesbian, bi, or transsexual. BUT............since there are so many assholes out there who hate against what they think is wrong, I believe using science to educate even ONE of them so they stop hating is worth posting a video. I hope you would understand.

  • actually i understand. PLUS the more times you do it differently with everyone person is another angle to discussing. it's like canvassing or debating. it doesn't bother me mostly but topics can feel beat to death at times. i've been accused but i get it.

  • i keep posting comments that aren't making the cut. oh well. but i get it. i'm not a very competitve person.

  • Sorry........you're comments DO make the cut. I just don't get to approve them but once a day. gotta work, ya know LOL

I just mod comments to prevent assholes.

  • Also........CURE??

The explanation for various sexualities or gender disorders by science is nothing more than that.....an explanation. Those looking for a cure are nothing more than so-called normal people who that think anyone NOT like them must change. BUT, the research explaining the biology behind homosexuality in males is used to shut the assholes up who actually think it is a choice. Anything that can help society to accept diversity and embrace it is a positive in my opinion.

  • My point is, bible-wielding nut jobs aren't going to change their minds because you put facts in their face. The fact that we're willing to walk around despite their protests should more be more than enough. If you put science to it, especially genetics, there's going to be a way to alter it. There's some answers that are truly beneficial, but this one seems trivial at most. :/

  • I'm transsexual and I've been through hell. Physically, Socially, Mentally, you name it.

  • I'm so sorry for your difficult time I hope things have gotten better for you and that you are able to live an authentic life.

  • Live your life. Screw the haters.

  • Very interesting and believable theory.

From the way i see it, determining the cause of sexual orientation is not relevant.

Why? There is nothing wrong with being gay.

Scientists should be looking more into Physical/Mental illness.

  • If the first time you found out you were straight was through nudity than your probably gay but don't even know it......

  • This is very informative to the potential biological basis of sexuality but I cannot help to find it somewhat funny......

  • this is a theory not a fact !!!!!!!

  • So's everything in science!!!!!!!

  • do you have a better explaination? This seems pretty logical if you ask me, especially when it's studied by people who probably know a lot more than someone like you. Unless, are you scientist? Probably not.

  • Religion and social norms fall apart in the face of true science. Go home and read more folks. Stop watching American idol and eating Mcdonalds

  • This video implies that homosexuality is a disease.

  • Really?? I didn't feel that way at all. I felt like it totally explained a possibility for biological basis of homosexuality. If you think that it is a disease, that is too bad. But, the fact is that some people think anything which deviates from the "normal" is defective. Mother nature's reasons for variation aren't always defects. They are just variations.

  • Dianegosh you miss understood. The video --- said the brain or the testis didn't do as it was suppose to, the definition of disease, causing some males to be gay before birth. Its saying that something malfunctioned in utero. Its saying gay men are damaged individuals. That gives those who don't like the gay life style somethig to fix. As well as, giving gay men the backing of God. Whether or not the video is correct, I really don't care. I respect homosexuals like I respect most ppl.

  • The video said that either the brain didn't accept testosterone when it was suppose to, or the testis didn't produce enough to give the brain and body. Medically speaking that's a diease. A condition I belief many will try to use to fix homosexual males. While on the flip side some will say God or nature meant for it to happen, as you already have. It doesn't matter which is true, that is how it will be used. Personally, I'll still repect ppl for who they are.

  • This explains it so well, i love the music too

  • The first day I saw a hot girl naked.

  • So if you'd seen a hot, naked boy you would've been gay? Give me a freakin' break with that shit, man! If what you said is true, you are bisexual.

  • how does the testosterone theory explain lesbians?

is it theyre getting too much testosterone and its changing their sexual preference?

  • Who the hell do you think you are giving me a lesson on what my video says!! I also resent you "putting it in layman's" terms for me when that is what I was trying to do for you. And for your information, the default gender is female. The default brain is FEMALE. Go back and study your book again. This is my profession, to explain brain development, so stop picking and choosing what facts you care to believe and which one's you care to disregard or forget about to suit your own agenda.

  • You are a bit mistaken. The video does NOT say gays are gay because of a lack of testosterone. It says that the hypothalamus does not absorb the testosterone during embryonic development, thus keeping the brain in the default female gender. It clearly says that the REST of the baby's body absorbs the testosterone just fine. The only lack of testosterone occurs during week 5 of embryonic development. This is exactly why people don't understand the truth. Even watching this, ppl get it wrong.

  • It's also interesting to note how the gay one's face sets differently. We gays, unconsciously, relax our muscles in our face differently than a hetero would. This further suggests that homosexuality isn't a conscious decision.

  • i dont get it .. wht?

  • @sin181188 LOL hahaha that lightened the mood a bit!!

  • "Sexual imprinting" research hasn't disproved biological theories by any means ... if anything, it tends to support what was mentioned in the video.

  • Right, it couldn't have anything to do with means of politics, differing ideologies and cultures, matters of race and ethnicity, the quest for superiority of one state or states over others by military might, or the same dangerous amalgam of hatred, anger, and fear that people have with others that are different than them. If you honestly believe that the world would be without war, hatred and evil in general if religion and theism was to be cast out, you are incredibly ignorant and naive.

  • Ah ha! The mystery is solved, Columbo style... But now doesn't this open the door for fanatics to now claim that we (gays) are then "broken"? Or is it still a matter of genetic expression, like brown eyes, or big feet?

  • I do not believe as some do, that sexuality is a choice. Some who believe being gay is a choice also believe everyone is born straight like themselves. The question I have is why would someone who is straight choose to be gay?

  • EXACTLY!!

  • Yeah, and why would someone gay choose to be straight!? No way, Jose! XD!

  • Seriously! How does one ''choose'' their feelings? I just dont get it.

  • Or, better yet, why would gays choose a life of hell (persecution, name-calling, hate-crimes, etc.)? To proove a point? People need to get real.

  • Problem is no one prove people are born gay. I believe it is a choice. While I also believe homosexuality is disproportionally attacked, it is still immoral and should not be allowed.

  • It is not a choice. If you were gay, you'd understand that in a nano-second.

Did you actually watch this all the way through? That is the point.

God created (intended) me this way so how can it be immoral?

And please don't quote from the Bible...

  • Well, this proved to me personally that we currently do not know for sure that homosexuality is not entirely a choice. Due to my religious bias, I'm going to say that it's a choice. That is what we currently know. It could be come a fallacy in the future, but saying that this theory is true is a complete guess. Have fun.

  • You said it correctly. Your religious bias. There is an immense amount of evidence (growing amount) that sexual orientation is a complex interplay between genetics and the environment. For the most part sexual orientation is set in stone prior to adulthood. If this confronts your belief system then I'd question and rethink my belief system if I were you.

  • Let me get this straight...

Your religious beliefs are your justification that homosexuality is a choice? You don't KNOW that it is; you're only assuming that it is.

What's ironic is that you're denying science claiming that a theory is a guess, while you're encouraging religion claiming that it's knowledge.

  • @Stewie9205 Thank you for saying that. No pun intended with the opening ("Let me get this straight.") Right? :-)

  • Great video man. I lvoe seeing vids like this. Even tho I already know sexuality is not choosen. I just hope that this helps educate some people so they stop being retards. :-)

  • Uhh.......did you actually watch it?? If you actually did, then you would understand that "epigenetics" is a new branch of genetics which will turn what we "think" we know about genetics completely upside down. This "epigenetic" explanation for homosexuality is only ONE small example from the entire episode which shows how the activation or inactivation of random genes by these "proteins" present in our cellular "environment" can alter the expression of our genetic code. Watch again.

  • BEING GAY ISNT A CHOICE

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!

  • Gay were being mistreated on this world because of the Religion, Politics and Power of Straight Men. One thing for sure World must be controlled by Straight Men and for Straight Men only. History always tells us how this straight men suppressed the ideology of unified sexes and the equality of power among counter sexes whether its gay or female... Sample is our Pope, We never had a chance to have a female pope simply because

  • It's simple

    1. In response to Christians. Christians often say "Christianity is a decision not a debate" if so and a gay "chooses" to be gay then it's also a decision not a debate.

    2. If the reason for the person being gay is biology, then don't pick on those who are unfortuante. Just like the deaf or blind.

    3. If a person is gay from abuse or environment then have empathy not attack.

I'm not gay but this is a really simple debate. Firstly, why do people think there can be only one reason.

  • I like the way you think!!!

  • 1. I don't understand the confusion. Firstly, procreation requires a male and a female. Therefore, if you are geneticaly born gay it maybe considered a flaw. If it is a flaw, just like being deaf or blind is it right to attack these people? IMO No.

    2. If a person is gay from environmental influence such as abuse. Is that their fault? IMO No.

    3. The religious dont like their beleifs debated. They often say "it's a decision not a debate", well if a gay is gay by choice, Ditto.

  • It does not matter what science says. People will always mistreat others for the joy of it, or pick and choose what is real and what is not.

  • Sadly, I think you are right. There will be a few people with open minds looking to be educated. Those are the people that I hope this video helps. And for the assholes who will continue to harass, humiliate and degrade ...........well, I better not say what I'm thinking.

  • i'm gay and it didn't answer my question as to how i became gay. and i'm sorry brandonlee but i actually believe being gay is a brain defect and, being such, is incurable...

  • i don't like this video because it makes homosexuality seem like a birth defect, or an incurable disease you get at birth...

  • This theory does not fully add up.

Autism is caused be excessive testosterone levels during womb development but you can get autistic gay males.

  • I was not aware that the cause of autism had been determined. I am in education and our autistic children are thought to have autism from a variety of supposed causes. I think you may have your info mixed up.

  • Sorry i made a mistake.

The cause of Autism has not yet been confirmed but scientists think testosterone levels may be the cause.

  • autism has no cause yet, they have not found one.

  • I guess I have to stop calling my brother a liar. He's been telling me he was born that way and I wouldn't accept it as such. I guess he really was born that way afterall.

  • I don't think the finger ratio statistic reflects a person's sexuality. A male classmate looked at my hand and declared that I must be a lesbian because my ring finger is much longer than my index finger. However, I don't feel any attraction towards women. Does the finger ratio indicator only apply to men?

  • I agree that the finger ratio is a bit of a stretch. I have no idea if there is any credibility to this theory. It could just be a myth.

  • it is a myth, although it does not apply to everyone, there are people with birth defects that give them diffrent sized fingers. bu it is true to a sense that most gay boys do have this and most straight boys have different sized fingers. i ran a test myself. i myself am a MtF transgender and have same sized pointer abd ring fingers, but everyone else in my family that is a boy have difference sized pointer and ring fingers.

  • Remember that these are that the findings are based on population studies. If it isn't applicable to you or your friend it doesn't make it a myth. You wouldn't take the relationship between smoking and lung cancer as a myth even if your grandpa has been smoking heavily for 50 years and have not developed lung cancer.

  • No, it is not a myth. Studies have shown relationship between 2D:4D finger ratio and sexual orientation, repeatedly. The studies have, however, had mixed results because of the difficulty to take account all the other variables that effect 2D:4D-ratio such as ethnicity. Still, findings point that there is difference at least between white male homosexuals and white male heterosexual.

  • This is the biggest load of horseshit in the history of horses or shit. Nat Geo makes about as much sense as a Pat Robertson rant. You will never ever ever be able to track down the neural correlates of human arousal, much less something as complex and diverse as sexual preference. It's not even a question of determinism vs. choice, it's about presenting the politics of science as if...vanilla over chocolate is somewhere in the brain, a single neuron or group of neurons.

  • and you make sense? speak english, because your as understandable as a "rat on a leash teaching a history lesson."

  • Some may be born homosexual, but why would we not want to change? Does desire attract us so much? For what reasons would we follow our mechanically created circumstances?

If we really want change, if we really want to be a creator of life, we must begin to understand our desires. Science cannot find everything using only mere physical sight and sound...there is more to life than this physical realm, you have seen it, but we are not awake.

  • You definitely are correct by saying that science cannot address certain questions. However, all components of a scientific model must have grounding in the physical, observable world, or else what we do will not be science.

Evidence is also lacking for the idea that sexual orientation can be changed by some form of "choice." The brain underlies all behavior, and you cannot force something upon the brain that its structures cannot accommodate for. e.g. imagining space in 4 or 5 dimensions.

  • Ok. I'm GAY and yr STRAIGHT, why don't we switch "body in soul" for ONE DAY!!!

    see wot its like!!!

I no for sure that u are STRAIGHT: there's no way in the WORLD of turning to become GAY... right? --- that's b'cuz being STRAIGHT is just the WAY YOU ARE and vice versa.

  • What science rejects today, it accepts tomorrow.

    - Samael Aun Weor

  • complete moron. if he was smart enough he wouldn't say that. many uneducated ppl are saying that now just because they are stupid and don't get the science :)

  • this video missed 2 major factors 1 bisexuals and 2 people can go from from straight to homo to bi and back

  • here's a question, what does it matter?

  • allow comments, it will give the video exposure!

  • The theory that the female mother's body produces antibodies to feminize the male fetus sounds perfectly reasonable except when female lesbians are considered.

And the finger ration and hair swirl statistics, I think are false... I'm gay but my ring-finger is definitely longer than my index finger on both hands...and I have 2 swirls on my head and one "half swirl" type thing...? any thoughts?

  • These are just theories I believe. As for lesbianism, hmm...Maybe(Just a thought I have no real idea.) Most Lesbians have older brothers and left over remnants of the brother are still in the womb and affect the feotus somehow. Im probobly wrong but it's just a though.

  • Also the Hypothalamus or Amygdala (I can't remember which) is larger in a lesbian compared to a straight woman. There have also been studies that show the more sons a woman has each has an increased chance of being gay as her body becomes more efficient at rejecting the testosterone the fetus tries to produce. Homosexuality is mostly genetic, I will admit some people choose, but most don't.

  • Bring back Tokugawa Ieyasu and make him the bloody Shogun of the world... Make things soooooo much better!

    Reanimation, if only....

The video's information has yet to be irrefutably proven, but it gives some sense to why homosexuality is prevalent within males.

The only problem is, if this is proven, the Christian powers will do whatever they can to change those who "suffer" from homosexuality by manipulating genes. Epistasis and expressivity of genes is what makes this a BADDDDDDD idea.

  • i thought 10% of the population is gay

  • I have no idea and I don't think anyone really knows since many are not able to be openly gay.

  • Reports have gone as low as 0.5% (1 out of 200 people) and as high as 15% (1,2 out of 10 people) - in San Fransisco.

  • While watching this I couldn't help but think of the research showing that there are correlations to sexual orientation and 2D:4D finger length ratio on the right hand. Perhaps our right hands are almost like a snapshot of what went on inside the womb? Or how much testosterone/estrogen was absorbed by the hypothalamus?

  • Yea, there are a lot of wierd statistical quirks with hormone exposure in the womb (finger ratios, hair swirls, inner ear differences, etc). Not sure how much it actually affects this issue though.

  • Glad you all enjoy this piece...I think it is a very important message that needs to be told....

  • Wow.........was it really you and your brother who did this video?? You indicated that you were more facially expressive. Does that mean you are the twin on the left?

I was so happy that NatGeo finally did a piece like this. I wish it was mandatory viewing for all people.

  • Yes that's me...

  • Excellent video! It makes total sense. Unfortunately, most bigots are also willfully scientifically illiterate and won't even bother to try to un
