Actually you have to go mach 2.35 or batter at 80,000ft because of the air-density or I should say nearly lack of it. The volume of air that must be pushed over the lifting surfaces to produce lift is directly related density of the atmosphere you fly in. Higher Density less volume you need push over the wing to produce the same amount lift for a given wing area. The engines are turbojets-- they process atmosphere at a fix velocity and can overspeed easily even at 80k.
@maddog1522006 This jet was designed as an interceptor to XB-70, of course it can shoot a missile. As for F-16, it all depends on merging geometry and speeds. There is a good chance that MiG-25 would simply outrun the F-16 and even if F-16 fires a missile, MiG-25 has a good chance of getting out of missiles range before missile gets it. Good pilot knows how to do exactly that.

Thats compared to 29.92 inches of mercury on a standard day at sea level. At this low a pressure blood, water, saliva, would instantly evaporate into water vapor regardless of the temperature.

Nice vid, the flight is pricey, several thousand dollars, maybe over a dozen. Most of it is for the fuel. This bird eats lots of it (checkout the exhausts). But man, literally going to space at 2.5M is the best.

Actually, the pilot was in the compartment behind me. This Mig was outfitted with an extended nose for training new pilots. He did let me take control on the way down at 60k feet and mach 1.5. I was able to execute a 360 roll left, then right. Bitchin!

As stupid as your comment is let me explain: US military is high tec but small in size, it is not designed for a large all out war, it is more for precision striking and small scale surgical operations. Russian military is made for rolling through a country, it is larger, cheaper and more diverse. In short, US does not have the manpower or the machines to open up a real battle front anywhere, they barely have enough to occupy a small country like Iraq.

Russia has the newest most high tec air force (though less stealth planes then US), a cheaper better main battle tank, better troop transport (a BTR), more infantry and they have a much MUCH better rocket artillery. US has its stealth planes (though not too many, expensive), large fleet with carriers and much better satellite coverage plus some very nice helicopters. A war between the two nations would end badly for both... But who cares, they will both fight china soon anyway.

By 1975 the U.S. was mostly unopposed militarily. Politically it was a failure.

Nice vid, the flight is pricey, several thousand dollars, maybe over a dozen. Most of it is for the fuel. This bird eats lots of it (checkout the exhausts). But man, literally going to space at 2.5M is the best.

I am a true multi-tasker; flying a MiG at supersonic speeds and videotaping is easy.
Actually, the pilot was in the compartment behind me. This Mig was outfitted with an extended nose for training new pilots. He did let me take control on the way down at 60k feet and mach 1.5. I was able to execute a 360 roll left, then right. Bitchin!

As stupid as your comment is let me explain: US military is high tec but small in size, it is not designed for a large all out war, it is more for precision striking and small scale surgical operations. Russian military is made for rolling through a country, it is larger, cheaper and more diverse. In short, US does not have the manpower or the machines to open up a real battle front anywhere, they barely have enough to occupy a small country like Iraq.

Every country has a military because in the event of an "all out war", they need to be able to defend themselves. Also, i'd take quality over quantity and day of the week. About 40 years ago, America lost 60,000 troops in Vietnam, but casualties, and death's on the vietnamese side were estimated to be in the area of 1.5 million. thats nothing to brag about i know, but lets look at the facts.

Russia has the newest most high tec air force (though less stealth planes then US), a cheaper better main battle tank, better troop transport (a BTR), more infantry and they have a much MUCH better rocket artillery. US has its stealth planes (though not too many, expensive), large fleet with carriers and much better satellite coverage plus some very nice helicopters. A war between the two nations would end badly for both... But who cares, they will both fight china soon anyway.

You are inconsistent Dipp shit. As you seen in this video a mig-25 has the highest record in altitude a jet plain can fly. It is also old now and is not used much by the russian miitary. You should also see the russian helicoptors which are more advanced than what the USA uses. I also think that Russian tanks are better than USA and the Russian su-37 is a real competitor with the F-22.

Roughly Two Percent of the American soldiers in Vietnam were killed, 58,228 to be exact. Not 80,000. The Russians were defeated in a number of large battles in Afghanistan. The Americans won every medium & large size battle in Vietnam. In fact, after the USSR fell it was discovered Russia could not believe the U.S. left Vietnam after beating them so badly. By 1975 the U.S. was mostly unopposed militarily. Politically it was a failure.
