Dear Lola - this is my favorite nocturne. I wonder if you would play my next favorite - opus 48 #1. It is so hard to get the balance right in that one. I think maybe you would add something very special to it.
@irene98229 haha right? I will NEVER. EVER play the piano like that..I mean, yes it sounds wonderful, but once you look at her hand... things go wrong =..=
@HySipher I see. Artistic expression, maybe? She sits upright and coiled like a spring, maybe she had to vent off some steam. Every one has a stage habit, aye? But, you are probably right. Still, I love her and her playing chopin. Well met T
@Thaulopi Yes I agree. I mean..yes that sounds amazing! As long as I don't look at her hand..I..I just can't bear someone play the piano like that(hand movements only), so I choose not to watch the vid but listen to it..You are absolutely right though, everyone has a stage habit and OMG I love Chopin and her playing..(as long as I don't watch the vid haha :)
This piano work by Chopin, my favorite of all piano works, has here been beautifully presented. This great master of the piano has what I call "the touch" required to present such a work in all its beauty. Imo, it is rare, and I thank you for this insightful presentation. To go full screen and watch your hands actually doing it was extraordinary sight to me. Bless you for your talent and focus.

This is my favorite nocturne of Chopin. I love this music since I was young and I remenber my time in piano. Without words to say. This the best music in my life. I know that post in two years ago.....But Thank you Lola. You touch my heart.
We have all the ingredients here for a beautiful day and a peaceful ride to our home with a big smile. Life could not get better at least for today....
This piece may sound simple, but it takes a lot of work and practice. One thing I found out is when your at the mall and want to meet women, find a piano store and sit down and play Chopin Etude OP 8 No. 12. I don't know what it is, but this kinda music seems to be a woman magnet. If your a biginner, play the moon light sonata ot Fur Lise. It also has advantage's at social event's.

I love how people on YouTube enjoy verbally tearing one another down. It's classy. Love this piece, love Ms. Astanova's talent, and am listening to this on 'repeat'.
ChoirRobin55 - bad form? What does that mean? You are one of the many assholes jealous of her talent. You are not good enough to come up to her feet. You are showing what an incompetent asshole you really are. You suck at piano, obviously. Lola is great, and anyone who doesn't see that is just blind, or jealous.
I just don't understand the bad form comment. If someone is AMAZING at something, but has bad form.. What the hell? Why does there even need to be form? What if someone has a bad back or something? They can still play amazingly, but God forbid the bad form- They shouldn't play at all, huh? Bad form, >.<' What a joke. That's like saying women should still have corsets and eat with 5 spoons and forks.
Did you get a manicure before that performance? Aw, but you played it so well. The ending was dramatic and beautiful...my favorite interpretation goes to Evgeny Kissin on this one.
not bad, but a sense of touch and control are lacking. IMO, I've found that working on some mozart sonatas helps a great deal, because they are written so economically. It pretty much forces you to focus on even sound quality.
she has touch problems. there uneveness in her touch, which makes a piece like chopins nocturn difficult for her. without mastery of touch, this piece cannot sound great
I can only listen to this, not watch it. If my dear piano teacher were still alive, she would croak just watching. The "form" is horrible; looks like a self-taught pianist with no guidance from an instructor. Sorry Lola
@iamsupermanforever Maybe, but still, she makes the piano sound wonderful, don't you think? I'd say if someone can play as clear and eloquent as Lola does, the "form" is really just unimportant.
@iamsupermanforever I totaly disagree with you. Can't help it. But i just love to watch the video. It's amazing. ( and not only because she's like really hot ;P )
although she is obviously a beautiful woman, I was staring at her hands the entire time. I know nothing about classical music. So maybe someone can educate me; how do you know whent to hit what key? is there instructions on the sheet music on the timing of the strikes of the keys? I wish i could learn to play piano :(
You play the notes according to the rhythm of the piece. Everything you need to know about it is in the sheet music (score) and everyone can learn to read sheet music. And you can learn to play the piano. I started late too and I'm doing ok and having lots of fun. You should give it a try, maybe have a lesson or two with a teacher and see if you like it.
@abmsghost yup. she wastes too much energy and movement. u should play laterally not up and down. lol but she can do it very well though. i could never get away with that. rofl but it would sound much smoother if she played it laterally. more choppy up and down fingers. but i like her slower tempo.
@PianoTHIS It's that showy rhetoric that young keyboardists love to personify. Only with maturity do they realize that they are performing excessively, and when certain showiness is employed on the piano, it is result of the music, not the other way around.
one has to agree that all of the greats had very controlled hand shaped, not those dancing up in the air... look at ashkenazy, horowitz, cziffra, pollini, rubinstein.. josef hofmann also, i belive... photos of rach show he had hands like steel...all technically supreme people had firm(not tight, note this) good hand positions... exceptions are there, like kissin, astanova, lisitsa though...
@gouloum2222 She does a wonderful job playing Chopin. It doesn't matter if she looks tense, either. People have their styles, and her notes are clean and flowing. If you have some real criticism, make it. Don't waste comment space with empty and pompous words.
@Ohnodiwu when i said tense i was talking about her hands and believe me whatever the style of the pianist is, it's never a good sign. the way you touch a piano is responsible of the sound you get. but i'll give you that, for this piece it's okay because the tempo is relatively slow and so however you touch it you can get a decent impression of flowing and clean work. im not making a critique for the sake of it (im not a baad person lol) but because i felt it was important to notice it.
@49kasey well that's not my opinion tension in hands are not a sign of strength. like liszt said , you have to have "dead hands". a good visual example would be Lisitsa, Argerich, Barenboim. total relax hands with still tremendous power.
@49kasey@49kasey well that's not my opinion tension in hands are not a sign of strength. like liszt said , you have to have "dead hands". a good visual example would be Lisitsa, Argerich, Barenboim, Richter. total relax hands with still tremendous power.
@gouloum2222 Look, she couldn't possibly play with such delicacy if her hands were tense. And read all the positive comments. You are the only negator. I think you're trying to build your own house by tearing down others. This is a beautiful and inspired performance, I don't care what her hands look like.
The cinderblock wall ruins the acoustic element of the presentation. She has such beautiful technique and hands. Phrasing is just a little, a very little off.
@LeonR1993 if you think this is his most beautiful work, you obviously haven't heard Chopin's Sonata in b flat minor, and his Waltz in a flat minor, or his Nocturne in C sharp minor, or his "Fantasie" Impromptu..
Wow, that was so delecately played! you have such controlled power. I've been playing piano since i was 10, that makes 7&1/2 years, and I'm hoping to have that sort of EMOTION in my music in the future. You've inspired me and encouraged me. I'm learning this song for a scholarship that I'm applying for, and will encorporate some of your elements in my playing. THANK YOU!
I think everyone EXCLUSIVELY listening to classical music is a bit ignorant. I'd listen to eminem as I'd listen to this. His music touches me as much as this. And If you would disagree that the 'current' style music doesn't do it for you, you're not giving it a chance
But in the end, this music truly hits my heart, and it'll stay there forever.
@iPlayPiiano OK. Poland vs the USA. I think many people worldwide would know Chopin better than Eminem somehow. We will see who is still around in 200 years' time.
The rapid passages need to be tempered a bit. I think she rushes into them too quickly. It's like she knows they are coming and can't stand the anticipation. If she were to hang back just a bit, it would more fully match the exquisite emotion she has set up in the slower parts.
Weird things going on with her hands. But hey, whatever works.
@Beethovenfan12 Good observations! She misses the 1st D flat after the trill at the head of the "grand fioritura" passage (about 4:08), then gets a bit tangled in the bramble of close fingerwork coming down. One can see that she is not pleased. She's too good and musical not to cringe when she hears that! I agree that she psyched herself out , anticipating (understandably) THE passage in the piece.
Wow beautiful music. There's so many aspects I could praise, as others before me have, but if I were to type them all out I'd be typing all day! And as sad as it is that this should mean anything in the music industry, the fact that you are a very beautiful woman is a plus as well!
Oh my gosh, for the first few minutes of the video, I thought the video was in slow motion while the sound was just placed in, because of how easily she played! This video has totally made me look at a piano differently, it's like a canvas that you can put your emotions in from how the way she plays!
A lovely performance of a lovely piece. Bravo!

@49kasey gosh fucking nope. I am talking about her HANDS man.
gouloum2222 1 year ago
@gouloum2222 Me too. That's how she plays so loud sometimes, she's unusually strong. She's like a friggin' athlete on the piano.
49kasey 1 year ago
@49kasey well that's not my opinion tension in hands are not a sign of strength. like liszt said , you have to have "dead hands". a good visual example would be Lisitsa, Argerich, Barenboim. total relax hands with still tremendous power.

Phrasing is just a little, a very little off.

gouloum2222 1 year ago
@LeonR1993 if you think this is his most beautiful work, you obviously haven't heard Chopin's Sonata in b flat minor, and his Waltz in a flat minor, or his Nocturne in C sharp minor, or his "Fantasie" Impromptu..
adamdcFaN 5 months ago
@adamdcFaN Well, i know them all actually, but my opinion is changed since i discovered variations brillante op 12.

Oh and yeah, she's hot.
iPlayPiiano 1 year ago
@iPlayPiiano OK. Poland vs the USA. I think many people worldwide would know Chopin better than Eminem somehow. We will see who is still around in 200 years' time.
SugarTomAppleRoger 1 year ago
@SugarTomAppleRoger Lol there you go being ignorant. I'm not saying Em is better than this in ANY way, I'm just putting them on the same line.

bravo. just incredible. if you dont like this piano piece you could be just plain crazy or tone deft. it cleanses the soul i believe

@2xtrmshot lol... you mean tone "deaf".. if someone could be tone "deft", that would actually be a benefit.

Beethovenfan12 1 year ago
@Beethovenfan12 Good observations! She misses the 1st D flat after the trill at the head of the "grand fioritura" passage (about 4:08), then gets a bit tangled in the bramble of close fingerwork coming down. One can see that she is not pleased. She's too good and musical not to cringe when she hears that! I agree that she psyched herself out , anticipating (understandably) THE passage in the piece.

I saw this before and heard it from her. It sounds more authentic and awesome the second.

Wow beautiful music. There's so many aspects I could praise, as others before me have, but if I were to type them all out I'd be typing all day! And as sad as it is that this should mean anything in the music industry, the fact that you are a very beautiful woman is a plus as well!

Mad skills on the piano.
only the few can earn such a skill so eloquent and beautiful on the piano, only the few, with determination, devotion inspiration and practice.

Oh my gosh, for the first few minutes of the video, I thought the video was in slow motion while the sound was just placed in, because of how easily she played! This video has totally made me look at a piano differently, it's like a canvas that you can put your emotions in from how the way she plays!
