I watched videos, the ones that do touch the plow, for example, many of them plow down a hill because it's easier, when in fact they plow across a hill. When their patience ran out after waiting 20 years for legal justice, the people had no other recourse but to expropriate the land themselves by any means necessary.

Mugabe systematically violated it: 1990 - parliament act to confiscate land without the right of appeal in court. Mugabe declares: ' I, Robert Mugabe, will not be dragged to court by a settler'. Designated for forceful repossession: 1992 - 13 farms, 1993 - 70 farms.

Bottomline: White Farmers were growing tobacco on 85%+ of prime Zimbabwean land, these farming families were linked to the aristocratic families of Europe. Africans were originally rooted out into unfertile lands. Mugabe came under pressure to redistribute land.

none, ZImbabwe belongs to those who live there, black and white. Politics aside, Zimbabwe is pretty bad, it's not as bad as let's say Haiti(which is pushing off farmers too, for foreign companies). Any nation, anywhere, where farmers are threatened goes down hill very quickly.

I do believe that Zimbabweans are good farmers but they just thing individually hence they only grow food for themselves as a family not to sell and stuff like that.

actually, the ones getting lands are not farmers, but war vets. I watched videos, the ones that do touch the plow, for example, many of them plow down a hill because it's easier, when in fact they plow across a hill. They use poor outdated agriculural methods, indigiounous methods in many cases, the land is nowhere near as productive as it shoud be.

I just wanted you to realise how stupid the whole concept of racism is. Seriously, how can you hate someone simply because of the colour of their skin. Hopefully one day you will realise that blacks are just as human as anyone else and that they are not all bad. Besides, blacks don't choose to be born black anymore than whites choose to be born white. Oh and what makes you so sure that I am black, I could be a fellow white man just as I assume you are, but, unlike you, I'm no racist.

Following your logic Ndebele must get out to Nothern Natal from where they crossed Limpopo circa 1826, killed scores of Shona and drove them off their lands. Shona too must get out to the North East from where they came 150 years earlier and forced Bushmen off their land. I would not be surprised if Bushmen aren't indiginous to these parts of the world either because history of Africa is full of tribal migrations. If you start to define land ownership by "who was there first" you will never end.

Karma? Speaking about karma, look, those whites that Mugabe drove off the land did not die from hunger and cholera. Wherever they are, in South Africa, Australia or UK, they are doing well. By Zimbabwean standards extremely well. It is those who kicked them out and kept voting for Mugabe who are now living in slums without electricity or sewage and are forced to drink water infected by cholera and parasitic worms and to sift through piles of garbage to find something to eat.

"why will he kick out the white farmers" There is a perfect reason why. You see, by late 90s Zimbabwe was rapidly failing. Mugabe was quickly losing support. He had to do something very popular among blacks in order to survive. What could it be so immensely appealing to the blacks that ZANU power would continue? There is nothing more popular among world's poor, and Zimbabwe is a perfect example, than wealth redistribution. Robbing wealthy pleases poor as nothing else and that is what Mugabe did.

Very good videoa. Fucking Mugabe seized my uncle's farm. In that farm they had 1000 hectares of the best tobbacco in thew world. Zimababwe was the country which produced more farm resources in all Africa. This video shows reality.

According to birthright who is the owner of the land, say, around Bulawayo? Ndebele or Kalanga? Or is it Rozwi who were slaughtered there by Ndebele in 1830? (Bulawayo means place of slaughter') Or is it Bushmen who were kicked out by Rozwi even earlier? The truth is that the only rights and freedoms by birth are citizenship ones and all citizens must be equal in the eyes of Law regardless of tribe or race or anything else; the opposite equals Nazi state and thats what Zimbabwe has become.

As a result of taking back what is their birthright Birthright is an interesting right. According to it a Zim citizen with black skin pigmentation suddenly has more rights over a piece of land than another Zim citizen not gifted with the same amount of melanin, despite the fact that it is the latter who paid for the land, who invested years of life and tons of energy into it. In reality it is not the right, but a popular justification for a brutal theft by a bunch of brainless thugs.

The Lancaster House Agreement--signed by the representatives of the ZANU-ZAPU guerrilla movements and the British government in 1980--promised to legally transfer ownership of the millions of acres of arable land from a handful of very privileged white farmers back to the Zimbabwean people.

The British government reneged on this promise while the people of Zimbabwe patiently waited for reparations in the form of land reform to happen. When their patience ran out after waiting 20 years for legal justice, the people had no other recourse but to expropriate the land themselves by any means necessary.

According to international law, once Zimbabwe declared independence, UK has no obligations towards it whatsoever. Nevertheless, UK agreed to finance resettlements of poor on a basis of willing seller - willing buyer principle.
Mugabe systematically violated it: 1990 - parliament act to confiscate land without the right of appeal in court. Mugabe declares: ' I, Robert Mugabe, will not be dragged to court by a settler'. Designated for forceful repossession: 1992 - 13 farms, 1993 - 70 farms.

Many of the confiscated farms belonged to political opponents such as Sithole and Chikerewa.
1994, new scandal: the poor have not been resettled on the expropriated farms, instead the farms have been leased to former agriculture minister Witness Mangwende (who pushed the act) and scores of ZANU officials, including Perence Shiri (army chief), and Augustine Chihuri (police chief). Nominal rents were charged, sometimes none at all.
After having paid L44m, Britain stopped further financing.

The truth is Mugabe turned on white farmers as the scapegoat for the country ills. The problem is not lack of land, but inability of blacks to use it efficiently. In 1980 Blacks owned 61% of all land, but produced about 10% of all marketable products. Over the years the efficiency did not improve, but the population grew from 6m to 12m people. Each year produced 40,000 families, but Mugabe failed to meet this growth with new jobs. As tensions rose, someone had to take the blame, but not Mugabe.
