I have heard that the frequency of women "marrying down" socioeconomically is still relatively low, which may be part of the thrust of this discussion here. Except in a couple cases, I believe in other primate species the male is dominant. Perhaps since environmental conditions have changed so much since humans left the jungle, any advantage to the human species of male dominance may no longer be significant?
