  • which famous singer is he supposed to be? I believe I always thought he was like a Sam Cooke puppet, lol. But I could be wrong. I mean he does sound kinda like him.

  • I still sing this, 30+ years since hearing it.

    this is RAD!

  • I didn't like Chris Cerf's scream, it's on my nerves. But, I agree he's a talented person.

  • He was putting all of his heart and soul into the song.

  • They just don't make kids' TV like they used to.

  • lol! i remember this! i wish my class was like that now.

  • "so if you want the teacher to call on you"

"bop bop bop better raise your hand"

    yess lol

  • I remember on my first day of kindergarten knowing I had to raise my hand from watching this on TV. Vintage Sesame Street is amazing :)

  • until I clicked on the link, I had forgotten about this clip. Then he crossed the room and it was like wow!

  • I like how Sesame Street spoofs many different kinds of pop music.

  • chris cerf and jim henson were the leader singers in about 90% of the songs in the 80's

  • My class wasn't as crunk as this, LOL!

  • that dude so black he is purple lol

  • how funny that the character sings better then people on American idol lol

  • Hahaha There should be a Muppet Idol XD

  • This must be a music class, lol

  • I know this a Parody of Blue Moon by The Marcels.

  • Anyone have a crap teacher who told you to "put your hand down?"

  • I don't remember school being this fun

  • This is awesome!

  • Does anyone know who the voice of Little Chrissy was? And does anyone have the skit where he literally rocked the babies to sleep in the daycare?

"Go, baby, go/Yeah, go to sleep/Go, baby, go/To a rock 'n' roll beat...."

  • Cerf.

  • They don't make musical skits like this anymore...they focus too much on using Green screens and technology and now its seems to be more about Elmo. I was always an Elmo fan, but sesame street seems to rely to hard on the Elmo brand.

  • I remember distinctly when I noticed that a clear switch to "Elmoism" on SS had been made. As soon as Elmo's World came in, giving the character his own feature like that, the whole feeling and direction of the show started to change and SS is now dying.

They're trying too hard to make it cutesy and accessible, and as a result it's becoming more silly, shrill and annoying (in keeping with many other kids shows) and losing a lot of the humour and depth that made original SS great.

  • i love this guys hair:P

  • They should start to send those songs from seasame street again!

  • I want to be little again with my pjs on, transformers slippers and a bowl of cereal in my lap watchin this good stuff!

Aww mann, y DID i HAVE TO GROW UP?? :(

  • Hehe very Sha na na.

  • This is one of my favorite songs!

  • wow, i luv the 50s doo-wop vibe. very catchy.

  • i luv this vid but i seriously objet to the message oif this song i think its 100% WRONG

  • If you think kids raising their hand in a classroom is wrong, how do you survive a day without having a heart attack from all the other things that probably annoy the crap out of you?

  • Aww he looks like sammy hagar. I love that little guy.

  • ha ha ha fully !, luv the little kid singing baritone

  • Little Chrissy ruled the 80s!...... and that is such an 80's thing to say :D

  • More than 20 years since I last saw this video on television and I've hardly forgotten any of it. Thanks for posting it, thanks for the memories, thank you forever!

  • I haven't forgotten this song, even those 16 years later. Love it, except looking back, I wonder why this dude has hippie/Warren Zevon hair and is singing doo wop malt shop music. Although I'm kind of glad that the producers didn't consider that - looks can be deceiving; wouldn't you expect flat tops to be singing this?

  • I used to hate it when I would raise my hand and the teacher would call on someone else...lol

  • raise it up hi-yiy-yiy-yiy! :)

  • You know, someone needs to fund a classic Sesame Street style approach to, say, teaching algebra. What self-respecting high school student wouldn't groan and grin (and learn) at the same time?

  • I use to sing the hell out this song!!! God bless classic sesame street!

  • YAAY malt shop music! :) <3

  • those little girls have lovely baritone voices

  • Ha! Indeed, they do.

  • Kids nowadays need to watch this. Sesame Street was the best back in the day!

  • i was 3 when i first saw this, those were the good old days. kudos to the person who posted this video. it's awesome.

  • I remember watching this when i was like 3. it was like 1988 i think. wow, those were some good times, better days. hahaha, i didn't think stuff like this could be found anymore. That's awesome.

  • I remember watching this when I was like 3. wow those were some good times,it was like 1988 i think. hahaha, this is great stuff, those were better days.I didn't think stuff like this could be found anymore. That's awesome.

  • please tell me these guys got a cd out there somewhere........ id buy it pronto, im a sesame st junkie, at least the golden oldies.......luv um!!!!!!

  • Raise your hand! In the classroom in school! Show that you know the ruuule! Raise your ha-a-and!

  • i love sesame street. brings back good memories

  • Jim Henson was such a genius!

  • brings back memories

  • The base singer....should his voice already be that deep?

    luv it!

  • HAHAHA

  • Little Chrissy is the ugliest muppet I've ever seen. He's a real eyesore.

The song wasn't too bad. But the snake in the beginning is the coolest pit viper I've seen!

  • I used to see this when I was little

When I would go to the Day care I read to the little

kids They would raise their hands when I ask them a question

  • They should show this in schools today!

  • don't they?

  • I believe he says "baby be sure to raise your hand".

  • I haven't seen this in years!

  • That looks like a lesson to me.

  • That's An actual Doo-wop group in the background. I Think it's the Drifters.

  • DO-DO-DO-DO-BA-DO-BA-DO-BE!

  • Um not sure, but I think it might be Kevin Clash.

  • Actually, This Is a Parody of Blue Moon.

  • So... I wonder what their reason was for removing Chrissy and the Alphabeats from the present day Sesame Street????

  • What a great tune to this piece very 1950's. 5 stars. Thanks for posting.

  • Little Crissy Rules!

  • Here is reason 10,000,000,010 out of the 6.02 × 10 to the 23 reasons: Please raise your hand whenever you want to speak to an attendant.

  • I really like Little Chrissy too but, I wonder why he is wearing a suit in this skit when on other skits by himself or with his Alphabeats on stage, he wears a shirt with a collar. My opinion is that, I think Little Chrissy should always be wearing a suit (like he's wearing on this skit) whenever he is performing on stage by himself or with his Alphabeats.

  • I always used to think that purple kid at that one part was saying "baby shut up and raise your hand."

  • Doesn't he say, "Baby, ya shoulda raised your hand!"?

  • I know but, I'm just saying that's what I thought he said when I was younger.

  • Ahhh.. okay! Thanks for the clear up.

  • This is now and forever stuck in my head :)

  • good you need to raise yo hand

  • from the other side of the tracks.. lol

  • WOW this brings back memories.... LOL

  • "Raise your hand...now that we've told why...you can raise it up highyiyiyi.." ROTFLMAO!!! I remember I use to sing that...lol

  • Wouldn't it be great to have Little Chrissy as a teacher?;).

  • Jeff Moss, I believe. This tune sounds a lot like a tune I did with barbershop a few years back in school, though I'm not actually sure if it's meant to be a spin off of that song. Come to think of it, I don't even know how old this other song is. It's called "Come and Go With Me". But anyway, good song.

  • omg that is awesome. im gonna be singin it all day

  • This is the freaking best! he's got some BANGIN hair

  • How could I not forgot this one! Christopher Cerf is so wonderful!

  • Does anyone have It's Alive?

  • That tune sound like "I'm Gonna Always Love You".

  • Yeah...and I thought "I'm Gonna Always Love You" sounded a lot like "With Every Beat Of My Heart" (I think Jeff Moss wrote both songs!).

  • What about Blue Moon?

  • the little kids voices all sound the same, lol! :D

  • I remember this one, it was on all the time, thanks!

  • Anybody got Listen To The Bells? I wanna see that one up here on YouTube someday.

  • Another one of my favorite Chrissy songs! Thanks a million!

  • College students, in particular, take heed. If you have a question, raise your hand. Otherwise, turn your cell phone off, and SHUT UP.

  • MORE CERF! Do you have "Can't Get No" The Rolling Stones parody? I think that was Jim doing the performance of Chrissy. I heard rumors that Chris did actually perform Muppets, but I'm not quite sure. _Eric ;)
