I understand your logic about the flush draw coming on the turn but he could still likely call with a strong hand knowing 80% of the time the flush isn't coming. Obvious bluffs to us normally mean value bets at their level.
Question: If d'Agostino had had the guts to (massively) reraise Ivey postflop , would he have taken the pot? Of course on the turn there is no way he could have won the hand vs. Ivey.
I guess when DAgostino made the bet on the river, Ivey was thinking DAgostino probably had a open end straight draw on the flop and kept calling his bets but did not make the nuts on the river and decided to bluff.
any of his 2p+ hands would raise the turn, or flop if 43, ex maybe sets (prob but slim maybe) and a queen is prob raising flop and if he did flat it hes checking down, anything in his A high midpair range checks down so he had to be calling turn with flush or strait draws. only a low set beats him here since higher ones probably 3 bet pre, or a lucky weird 89 910 draw getting there

@MRP0k3rs this probably was an easy for phil ivey but you have to remember the bet was $11,000 in a $16,000 pot. i doubt you would be willing to risk that amount of money when all you have is pair nines unless you are a very rich person.
When you are involved in a hand you shouldn't think about the "money" at all.
Think of it as big blinds. if you start thinking like: oh man I could buy a car for this pot, you will play scared and that will affect your play negative.
If the amounts are too high, you should move down to a lower level, where you are more comfortable.

He's playing 2nd top pair with top kicker, and he has already commited that much into the pot. I personally wouldn't fold with that flop and Ivey's hand.

@kb24crazylaker you can get a read, it's just that most of the usual live reads don't apply. but there are ones that are exclusive to online such as speed of play.
That wasn't that crazy of a call. If you have the cash being bet proportionately relevant to us financially, and follow it again from the beginning, given you know Phil's hand and not the other guys...you would at the end be left with the same read. Guy calls till the river. Phil checks. Guy bets considerably high. Either he missed his straight or flush, or he has you beat with Q's.

Its a superstandard, easy call.
D'Agostino is repping just 1 hand!
Its bvb and he is for sure 3b any decent Q, same with 88-99.
He will raise turn with a flopped set 33-44 as he would both protect his hand from the turned draws and at the same time ensure he gets stack in by river.
The only hand he can have is JT, that floated flop and turned oesd.
Add a tonne of missed draws and A9o is a snapcall getting great odds.

@MRP0k3rs this probably was an easy for phil ivey but you have to remember the bet was $11,000 in a $16,000 pot. i doubt you would be willing to risk that amount of money when all you have is pair nines unless you are a very rich person.

When you are involved in a hand you shouldn't think about the "money" at all.
Think of it as big blinds. if you start thinking like: oh man I could buy a car for this pot, you will play scared and that will affect your play negative.
If the amounts are too high, you should move down to a lower level, where you are more comfortable.

@MRP0k3rs all i'm saying is its an easy call for ivey because he's rich and full tilt probably gives him money for him to play on their site so that amount means nothing. but to a normal person, the stakes are very high and people's style of play vary based on the stakes of a game. people play differently with play money than with real money. pro poker players generally play more conservatively at the wsop than other tournaments. stakes matter when you're considering a call

@MRP0k3rs If D'Agostino had a set, The turn was a blank for draws so he may have just called Ivey's turn bet, hoping Ivey will bluff at the River. If he raised the turn Ivey may have folded if he had nothing.

He's playing 2nd top pair with top kicker, and he has already commited that much into the pot. I personally wouldn't fold with that flop and Ivey's hand.

That wasn't that crazy of a call. If you have the cash being bet proportionately relevant to us financially, and follow it again from the beginning, given you know Phil's hand and not the other guys...you would at the end be left with the same read. Guy calls till the river. Phil checks. Guy bets considerably high. Either he missed his straight or flush, or he has you beat with Q's.

Don't see what so amazing with that call. obviously when phil raises and Dagostino calls, and the board comes 4 Q 3 rainbow, they are both pretty positive that noone has hitted any card, as it is a standard play. I bet Ivey feels confident that he has the best hand because of the ace. Then the 9 comes and he bets again, and Dagostino calls, and Ivey checks on the river, it's a trap, and a damn good one. So no, no amazing call her, just very good play
